+ellebangs I have a question about bleaching. I use to have an ash brown box color for a year and a few months ago I did a bleach wash because I wanted to go blond, but I leave it in a golden/orange stage and have been waiting to bath bleach for a second time. I'm a hairstylist and use Redken color products all the time but tend to stick to what I know. I really appreciate you taking the time to show how you go about using the blonde idol! Thanks again
I love that you put good information out for us who are creative types & love to play at home with our hair. Trust me a good hairdresser will always be needed for me as no matter how hard I try I can never get my hair color or blowout to ever be as beautiful as you guys do no matter how much I know or practice 😊. Nice to have a pro doing a video. I do not really want to do my hair at home and prefer the salon, but due to disability and less places cutting off access, it's become my only option. it's just like the off grid stuff-there are so many on youtube who will show you how to do it wrong, that it's good to find one that can help those w/ no option other than DIY.
Omg really don’t like other criticizing you. Obviously you know what ur viewers want that why ur channel is successful. Don’t listen to others do u girl! Thank u!
I love what you do. I do my hair at home and truly appreciate the tips and guidance. but even if I wasn't doing my own hair I would still really appreciate the information to talk to the stylist with. thank you for you!!
I just want to say thank you for making these videos! I've learned so much from you, and I constantly get asked where I get my hair done. Nobody believes me when I say I cut and colour it myself. Hairdressers in Norway are just too expensive for a poor student to afford!
eenish i totally hear you! I went from dark brunette to pale blonde which needs touch ups and this will cost you a bunch getting it done every 3 weeks. I don't want any roots to show so I loved the idea still going and keeping it blonde while not being able to afford a stylist (student life lol). LOVE this channel
+eenish I Agree, also here in Italy highlights in the salon are just to expensive and you know, blonde is addictive, you always want more and more and costs a lot of money. Most of the time I wasn't even satisfied with the salon results, so I think this girl is really helpful and prepared
haha a year later I still have to say: I'm still happy with getting my hair blonde at home. Also my hair looks healthy thanks to olaplex and pro naturals, if anybody is still looking for products for bleached hair. I mean, it's an effort to get your dark hair blonde and keep the damage to a minimum but it's worth it! I'm glad I saved so much money (about 600 bucks a year). Stil have to say: Professionals are still likely to be better at it, especially when it comes to toning. Toning or dying bleached hair can be difficult, so I give credit here for sure!
Thank you I appreciate your information. Because every time I do ask my stylist they just tell me to come in. Well I can’t go in every 3-6 weeks. So it’s nice to have this info for the in between visits. Thank you, 🙏🏻
+ellebangs Love ur Tutorial please don't get offended bc my "Real name ." is Elle...is ur name Elle for real, bc all the Elle's I know r short for Eleanor and Elizabeth,....so just curious... Sorry I don't mean any offense,
Ella, I've just started watching your video's and I have really enjoyed what your saying with what I feel your good advice. All I've wanted is advise on my blonde regrowth on my coloured blond hair and what youve said had helped. Thank you so much and appreciated. Keep safe in health, joy and happiness. Kind regards Lorraine 🤗🤗
I definitely want to have my hair done by someone like you I cannot stop watching your videos I'm naturally a level 4 and currently between a level 10 to 12 but I am in love with your color
I agree with you, it's so expense to get your highlights and touch up (I have to do mine every three weeks! Ouch) So, thank you! Really helps. As far as hairdressers being pissed about your channel, bring your prices back to normal! $60-80 for a root touch up is ridic. I have to do my roots every 3 weeks. Too much of my money making others rich. Keep up the good work Elle
I agree! Thank you for giving people guidance that WILL do there own hair at home no matter what anyways so it's nice to get perfacianal help. I went to a Solon for the first time ever spent $120 to get highlights a d low lights and she screwed it up. so I will never go back again. I do my own hair a ND I have more luck doing it myself. so thank you for your help
You are so sweet for sharing all this info. I am not blonde and don't think I will ever be lol but I still watched the whole thing haha I would love to see videos of your formulas with darker hair
Girl I just found my dream hair. Lol. Glad I found some help for my hair finally. It’s almost long enough to “weave a highlight” in it. I can’t wait tho. I want blonde hair with silver highlights but don’t know how to go about it. My hair is black naturally. What I’m doing now is just bleaching my roots at this point then maybe hopefully add in the silver lights where I can I guess?
U have been so helpful with hair I've learned so much more then I already did bout hair I really appreciate all the help I color my own hair as well thank u again and I love ur videos today was first day watching them and I plan on watching so much more thank u again u r amazing
Hi Silvia, I have been doing my own hair now for over 6 years. I am not a licensed cosmetologist, just a girl on a tight budget and who LOVES to be creative on her own hair. How can I get a hold of the Blonde Idol Base Breaker and Highlift "P"? I have been using Color Brilliance HL/N-12.0 with 30 volume on my hair. I thought this Redken Product would be just what I have been waiting for! Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us. I am one of "those" girls who does her own hair. XOXO
Silvia, I have a question. It seems like the shade you currently have is more complimentary to your skin than the one in this video. Why is that? And how can we achieve that? I have more of a neutral skin tone but am struggling to find the right balance of warmth and cool? Please let me know if you already have a video discussing this? I love your content, and have been binge watching it the last few months.
I did it took the plunge went ginger red and honestly i love it. Looks like i have a tan. I couldn't be happier. I don't know but i was a fake blonde for years but I'm much happier a fake red lol. And its not dark didn't want a dark red it's natural ginger copper red and i am amazed how great it looks. I know it will fade but I'm gonna keep up with it. Keeping up with the blonde was so much more damaging. I was losing hair. It would look great on you if you decide to go red. Then we can reds tutorials to watch from you😄 thanks for relying your awsome!

Thanks for all your help. I really can't afford a hair dresser. I've always been pretty lucky with doing my own hair, but sometimes I have a question, I can't usually find the answer in your videos.
I’m going to stop going to salons thanks to you!! You saved me so much $, time and 100% more comfortable doing what I want for me / instead of someone else doing it for me
ellebangs, I would love to see you do videos of your formulas of your clients. Have you done any rose golds lately? I would love, love, love that one!! I'm going from blonde to Rose Gold myself and would love your suggestions and choice of colors. Thanks so much! Plz keep up the great work you're doing. You really help so many ppl by having this channel. Hope you have a Very Happy New Year, as well! Take care n plz put out those videos!!! 😉
Hairspray1983 thanks! Yes you're right! Just Keep in mind this is a video teach the everyday person, not just for hairdressers. Also how one can do it themselves. Which is so different than I would do on someone else :) thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for your videos! Silly question. It doesnt look like you get very close to your roots when you foil but when your hair is styled it looks amazing. So i just wanted to know how important it is to get close. I tried foiling once and gave up cuz i stressed about how close i wasnt getting.
Isn't adding the highlights (3rd step) on top of the highlift (2nd step), the same as adding bleach on top of bleach? Plus, on the 3rd step, you're adding bleach on to the length of your hair as well and not just the root. Isn't all that very damaging? I'm only asking because I bleach my hair roots every 2 months with box dye and I've let my roots grow out quite a bit because I'm trying to decide a new way of dying to be more careful and to avoid as much damage as possible. Can we buy the redken color for home use?
I love your videos and have been watching them for some time. What is your recommendation for your non-professional viewers that don't have access to buy Blonde Idol?
This is an amazing and very much appreciated video. Thank you a million for sharing your in-depth knowledge and insight. I am the free "girl-y-ish" girl who likes to explore all facets of beauty; mental, physical, internal or otherwise. Sometimes I am very fancy, but switch to just comfy casual. I scan YT while thinking, "tell/show me the way!" Someone who is similar not only in style yet in grace! This vid got the closest ever! Keep doing exactly what you are doing! Xo- Caty
Sylvia you are so talented and thank you so much for all of the information!!I have to start learning how to do my own hair. I have gone to five hairstylists in two years trying to get the perfect highlights and something always goes wrong. The one stylist who did a wonderful job moved so far away that it’s impossible for me to get to her without making it a complete day trip every four weeks. Now with the pandemic it’s even more than difficult. I have a medium-light brown base with 25% gray. My base has always been lightened to a level six before applying highlights. I recently went to a new salon and she lowered my base to a very dark almost level five and applied very light highlights. I do not like the contrast. When I went back for a touchup she just touched up the base color essentially erasing the highlighted roots about 2 inches. The demarcation is awful and I lost all brightness around my face. I need to fix this! I want to do it on my own. Do you have any advice or videos for brunettes with highlights? Also, why is it that when you get your first highlights and then you go back for a root touchup -they only touch up your roots with the base color and not touch up the highlights? This is something that I always experience in New York City? Is this an Industry standard for salons? Thank you so much!
I have been watching your videos for a couple of years and I can now save money and do my hair at home, but love the way your have done your hair in this video but I can't find these products in Canada, any suggestions. Thank you, you are gorgeous by the way!
What level of vol is used for the double processing? Also to add to that what is the base breaker mixed with? How can you tell if the hair will be able to handle all this overlapping? I too have dark hair but foil bleach with 20 and kinda mix my own base breaker with a perm 7a/20v on wet for ten It is ok but I want a more all over blond butter like. (I want it to look like I was born with it, like yours!) I have never used a any color lighter than an 8a again only a fast 10 and off and that was to close to brass so didn't think I could do the hi lifts and nobody has even suggested it... I wouldn't want cotton candy hair or orange hair my hair may be darker than yours I am a level 5 as far as I can tell. Any clips you have on this type color?
You have NOOOO idea how helpful your videos have been! I'm learning so much as a new subscriber and I would REALLY, REALLY appreciate (and enjoy immensely ;-) ) the video how-to's for your instagram pictures! Also, I have dark asian hair, but thinner than the normal average (lol), I was wondering how you can eliminate the banding that happens when you try to dye your hair at home :( with non-box dyes and salon grade dyes, please and thank you!!
Hi!!!! You are the BEST!! So you do the hi lift on the roots and then the bleach on the same day? What if there’s some brass on the mid & the ends? Can I just paint bleach on the brassy parts & then tone with a pearly toner?
Hi, I love your hair color, and I want the same color as you have, (my natural color is the 6 number) but is the problem, that in my country doesn't selling this Redken kit and Redken production. Maybe you can help to say what need to buy for that color in single product? Thank YOU
wow !! you only need to use 20vol with that highlift on ur level 5 base? its beautiful do you have any tips or tricks in choosing a highlift colour for an all over on scalp root retouch? its so confusing to pick just one to match the end colour? ... and at what point do u decide a normal tint will work with a 30vol rather than a highlift , thankyou
Hi Silvia, thank you so much for your informative videos! I just love every single one of them. Can you please tell me the base breaker you use is clear or cool color? I mix 103HL and 10N on my hair. I would like to go lighter. What would you recommend. Thank you so much!
So I have dark hair but have had blonde highlights for years. With social distancing I ordered the above products. Should this work for me? Any specific advice? I thought I’d experiment with the underside first.
I love your hair so beautiful!! I have a question im dark hair too naturally like yours . I have dark eyebrows. Do u too? Do u bleach them? I was thinking about bleaching mine but am scared. Or are your eyebrows naturally light? Thank u so much ! Your hair is gorgeous
Hello Elle, after bleaching my hair, I added medium blonde and light ash blonde, my hair suffered a bit of damage because I had put it through lots of changes trying to find the right color, red to brown to blonde. Its 6 weeks later and I want to go brighter so I purchase light ash blonde and light golden blonde, I know that I would have to bleach the roots but I am concerned that the color will change only the roots and not brighten the rest. Also my hair is damaged should I wait, I have been deep conditioning twice a week for the past 6 weeks. So do you recommend a toner or should I just stick with the previous color. Thanks so much.
I love this :). Question, what would be a good replacement for redken if I'm not able to purchase it? I can get stuff at Sally's or Peerless... Suggestions? :)
I love your channel...I would really like to see your techniques on achieving different hair colors. I really wish I lived in your area I would love to have blonde hair like yours♡♡♡♡
Thanks for the new video. I am a new blonde after 35 years as a red head. My daughter bleached it when I went to visit her in Chicago. So...my virgin root is starting to grow in (it's only about 1/8 inch so far) in 3 weeks. I can't seem to figure out what level it is. I'd say 30% of it is grey/white, and the rest is my normal brown. Do you have a good way for me to figure out what my natural level is? And if so, do I have to bleach the roots every time?
You make it look so easy, I am older - 56 so my roots are growing thru with grey - prob all grey then I have highlighted hair, although my natural color is dark brown, where do I start if grey is involved????
Your hair grows so fast. It takes about 2 months for me to get that kind of regrowth. I guess that's an advantage because I have about level 3 hair naturally and I like being very light blonde. I thought the lower levels were darker colors? Like level 1 is black and level 10 is lightest blonde.
I agree with what you're saying about teaching clients to do their own hair properly as a hairdresser. If my clients are going to retouch their own hair in between sessions I'd rather teach them the right knowledge than have them Come in with a box dyed mess for me to deal with every 8 weeks.
Silvia please help me! 💜 My hair is at home balayaged, and highlighted. My natural hair color, my roots are similar to yours, and about 2inch growth, don't know how to explain. lol. I'd love to tone my hair since it's gotten a little brassy, and I have the matrix socolor extra blonde highlift color, should I only use it on the highlighted hair or am I going to go all over brassy if I slap it all over? I've been wondering, not being able to decide what to do.. I'd still like to keep the balayage, since it's so natural on me. Maybe I'll do a little test somewhere on my hair. Love your videos!
I'v GOT TO TRY THIS COLOR LINE! Lol.. Thank u for this video! And by the way, the NYX makeup giveaway I won from you sweetie has been such an amazing addition to my collection!! It's gotten me to buy a LOT OF OTHER NYX ITEMS AS WELL! Lol..😘💋 winning this from you has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me, besides my babies! Lmbo.. I have gray hair with more of a blue tone to it and I love it so much but I also have a very dark root as well maybe a level 3 so do you have any advice on a more easy way to lighten the root without having to bleach too much? also a video on a safer hair to bleach roots would be awesome.

salondlali aw thanks that means a lot! Where do you do hair?
Your welcome just being honest 😉👌🏼In San Antonio Texas
You are by far my favorite beauty guru. Wonderful tips and as always, such a beauty! I always look forward to your videos.
Amanda Goss aw thanks so much what else would you like to see?
THANK YOU THANK YOU! Your videos are the best. Thanks for the detailed education for DIY at home coloring. Love your videos.
Toning or dying bleached hair can be difficult, so I give credit here for sure!
eenish what product do U recommend? I’m thinking of joico
Thank you I appreciate your information. Because every time I do ask my stylist they just tell me to come in. Well I can’t go in every 3-6 weeks. So it’s nice to have this info for the in between visits. Thank you, 🙏🏻
You're AMAZING! You have no idea how much you've helped me! Many thanks to you and Adam xxxxx
Ines Cabrera aw thank you so much for watching!! love you xo
Thank you for all that you've been teaching. It's amanzing! I can't stop watching your videos
I love how knowledgeable you are! I appreciate you and all that you do so much! 💕
Love the tips and trade secrets on pictures of clients idea!!! ...and as always I appreciate all the great advice and videos you bring to us!!
traciesvision yay! thanks for watching!
amazing!! Your hair color is perfect! I wish I trusted myself enough to do this to my hair!
Fareha Hussain Yes I definitely working on that! Thank you for you support even if this wasn't a fitting video! xx
Fareha Hussain I
Thank you so much for developing such an amazingly educational and entertaining channel!
You are amazing I love watching you explain everything best teacher ever 💕
Thank You so much for doing these videos. I have always loved doing my own hair, and you make it possible for me to do it right.
I'm thinking the same I have virgin roots about 3 -4 inches long lift them w high lift color then do highlights that'll work hopefully get me started
I LOVE your videos! Thank you for teaching us how to do our hair! Especially when we dont have enough money to go to a salon!
U have been so helpful with hair I've learned so much more then I already did bout hair I really appreciate all the help I color my own hair as well thank u again and I love ur videos today was first day watching them and I plan on watching so much more thank u again u r amazing
Sounds great idea for formula!
XOXO
I think you are wonderful and so helpful in spreading knowledge of different trends in other parts of the world - I'm in Australia :-)
Thank you for all of your help. I think your channel is great!
I'm a hairdresser and I'm terrified to attempt this but I'm desperate lol
I did it took the plunge went ginger red and honestly i love it. Looks like i have a tan. I couldn't be happier. I don't know but i was a fake blonde for years but I'm much happier a fake red lol. And its not dark didn't want a dark red it's natural ginger copper red and i am amazed how great it looks. I know it will fade but I'm gonna keep up with it. Keeping up with the blonde was so much more damaging. I was losing hair. It would look great on you if you decide to go red. Then we can reds tutorials to watch from you😄 thanks for relying your awsome!
eSalon are making some amazing, very easy to use Grey Coverage products now, so if you're interested please check out my video about "Grey root Coverage" - that'll simplify the process a lot and my link will give you 50% off. thanks for watching! xx
Thanks for all your help. I really can't afford a hair dresser. I've always been pretty lucky with doing my own hair, but sometimes I have a question, I can't usually find the answer in your videos.
I love this color!
You're amazing❤️ thank you for honesty and pretty professional advice.
I never had time to listen to how you did this but the result looks amazing
Aw lv ur channel :) thanks so much for sharing your hair knowledge! x Really makes a difference
If you use cleaner/thin partings-you won't have as much "drag", and your foils will be so much closer! :-) color is beautiful!
Hairspray1983 thanks! Yes you're right! Just Keep in mind this is a video teach the everyday person, not just for hairdressers. Also how one can do it themselves. Which is so different than I would do on someone else :) thanks for watching!
I love watching all your videos, you are so helpful in informing on hair color, highlights and cutting! Thank you so much !!
This is an amazing and very much appreciated video. Thank you a million for sharing your in-depth knowledge and insight. I am the free "girl-y-ish" girl who likes to explore all facets of beauty;
mental, physical, internal or otherwise.
I too have dark hair but foil bleach with 20 and kinda mix my own base breaker with a perm 7a/20v on wet for ten
It is ok but I want a more all over blond butter like.
I need a t shirt that says buttery blonde. I just love the way it rolls off thr tounge!
Thank YOU
I am also attending a Redken salon academy. I love the theory and products. You go girl!
your hair is stunning!
wow !! you only need to use 20vol with that highlift on ur level 5 base? its beautiful
do you have any tips or tricks in choosing a highlift colour for an all over on scalp root retouch?
its so confusing to pick just one to match the end colour? ... and at what point do u decide a normal tint will work with a 30vol rather than a highlift , thankyou
Do red copper ginger color! Would be amazing i bet. Strawberry blonde! Can't wait. C: Thanks!
pugsloveme2 Adam always tells me to go red :D
I love your hair and your channel!
I love your channel...I would really like to see your techniques on achieving different hair colors. I really wish I lived in your area I would love to have blonde hair like yours♡♡♡♡
My TAFE class here in Aus sit with me and watch you all the time! 💜💋
Awesome ideas! Cant wait for those videos!!
As a stylist myself, I think what you do is great. I am curious as to how you foil the back of your hair though by yourself!!
Beautuful . What colour eyeshadow do you have on? Its really natural and pretty
Going try my touch up this weekend nervous since first time myself having my hubby help my back
I am getting my hair lightened at the Aveda Institute by a "senior" student. Do you think that I can trust that she will not mess up? Thank you Elle!
I’ve heard a lot of people use 30 developer for such dark hair but you’re looks great with 20.. will 20 be okay !?
Do you like the Redkin better than the olaplex? Or is it not even comparable? I don't know much at all about these products haha! Great video :)
You are so stunningly beautiful inside and out, and I love your personality, thanks for sharing Elle, I have learnt so much from you.
Hi Sylvia, I love the idea of a kit... Not sure where to buy it? I'm not a professional. Can you help?
You make it look so easy, I am older - 56 so my roots are growing thru with grey - prob all grey then I have highlighted hair, although my natural color is dark brown, where do I start if grey is involved????
That's my problem. Dark hair with about 40-50% grey, with blonde highlights. Ugh.
If my clients are going to retouch their own hair in between sessions I'd rather teach them the right knowledge than have them
Come in with a box dyed mess for me to deal with every 8 weeks.
Lmbo.. Keep up the amazing and fantastic work Ms Silvia!! Xoxo
Tiffany (Anderson)
I have gray hair with more of a blue tone to it and I love it so much but I also have a very dark root as well maybe a level 3 so do you have any advice on a more easy way to lighten the root without having to bleach too much? also a video on a safer hair to bleach roots would be awesome.
