The #1 test scenario I want to see with the 2024 QM8 is brightness with BFI in 120fps content (PC Gaming).
With 5,000 nits capability, does it reach 2,500 nits in BFI? Does BFI change tone mapping? Are all calibration controls still available with BFI?

Nope...watch HDTVTest and Classy Tech Calibrations they do much more one to one thorough tests this was really really bad if you know what FOMO was really doing here....like most youtubers using the wrong settings, not comparing one to one. Just bad man! Learn about the technology from experts then you can see through all the bullshit on youtube. He can be quite good from time to time but he's not consistent enough, very frustrating when you want to know how they perform compared to the reference and get this mess instead....also this wasn't a review.
He is misleading if you don't know much about tech (I studied and work in tech and have learnt alot about the TV side from the pros) as he does do more than alot of other TV reviewers but doesn't do it well like the pros mentioned above.

That's only because he wasn't using the equivalent settings that they looked so different. He put the QN900D from the accurate FMM (Static TM CE Off) to something like Standard Mode very early on in the video, which uses Active TM and CE Low.... 😄 He clearly knows very little of what he is doing like most youtubers. Digital trends is pretty bad too more like an ad....that just reads specs sheets and little else. Others use OOTB settings quite literally, so no good for comparing at all.
Only watch the pros HDTVTest and Classy Tech Calibrations if you want to see how TVs perform one to one. They are the only ones that seem to actually care about giving the right info and educating you properly so much more thorough. 😀

@30:08 HDR still causing trouble for even high end TVs 🙂 Clearly you should be able to see the image there. Maybe I'll pull it up in SDR on my Blu-ray and see what it looks like. Alita also looks really bad in Professional mode.
Even the A95L looks like a $200 TV as if a black hole absorbed the 3-dimensionality of the image and all the colors and that TV. I watched Alita in 3D SDR a year or two ago and it looked amazing.

Very good and extensive comparison, thank you Mr. Fomo. Isn't it surprising that we all thought that mini LED was going into the dust of tech but look at the improvements of these mini LEDs. The 2024 QM8 looks like it improved things that consumers complained about and the 900 series was an expensive tv with the same ole - same ole but was a material upgrade this year. Let's be fair, while the Sony (A95L/Bravia9) has some advantages these tvs shown will have some advantages as well. There is no perfect TV and like you said, you have to make a (informed) decision on what things you like and which things you are ok with not having. The next test could be motion and upscaling 😉 to help us all with informed decisions. Thank you.

X90L has several matted blooming screen. X93L x90K has Sever -rainbow smear 😮. It’s like coast a StarWar Light sord in front of tv. N X93L only has Hisense 2021 Hisense U8G LEVEL local dimming , BUT only 2150:1 native contrast. Hisense 2020 H9G already had like 6000:1-7000:1 Native contrast crisp.

The latest firmware for the '23 QM8 (v295) actually fixes the black crushing in DV (where it clips 1-3% completely in v283) and improves HDR10 greatly. It's a little less aggressive about retaining small specular highlights, but in exchange for fixing some of the black level issues. Probably the best that the set has looked thus far. Not sure if your set has received it, since TCL is so slow to roll updates out. Flashable USB version is up in the AVSForum thread though.

@FOMO, in your opinion, does the 2024 QM8 need a professional calibration? That's an important thing for us to know as many of us don't have calibrators near us, in addition to the added cost. I had to have Classy come to my state to calibrate my C2 last year.

    • @stopthefomo
      @stopthefomo  Месяц назад

Not really, not worth it because TCL hasn't done a great job with the calibration tools on their TV - better to calibrate the U8N if you need accuracy. '24 QM8 is perfect for bright room watching (what you'd normally watch as Cinema Home on C2) especially bright punch content but if you watch darker moodier movies, then I'd go with the U8N as it has more refined shadow detail/processing.

It's a real shame that the TCL qm851 Doesn't let you access the DETAIL Image enhancer in anything lower than 4k and it's not the only TV Brand's and Model's That has this False Advertising,,,,,,, There's a lot of TV's that will only get the best in 4k The only way around that is OLED But Not all OLED's Will let you Access this function Unless it's 4k

I think we’re a little too forgiving on Samsung, they should always be two steps I had of TCL, and as for Sony, skin tone accuracy when a television leans too much in the blue/cool, I don’t know about all that. As for the high sons , let’s just base it. They didn’t even try this year, the you ate K would most likely meet with the same results competing with these TVs. just about the same results, high did not try this year. Shame, they are starting to take notes from Samsung.

DUDE that Fenix person is SONY FAN. Most SONY chasers hate Hisense somehow. U should just sit on it see in person check it out then make the educated choice. Kinda like adopt a puppy, when in Dogson, when u meet the dog its diff feel. Whatever make u like”this is the one, my heart skipped a beat a beat (yeah over tv)” n do that :) 😊
U better Wait it out to see more reviews.
For me I would get HIsense because I had $5000 60” led before , n Hisense did NOT disappoint as the “passing the torch” TV. I will wait for U9N Come out lol. :) :) first :) any of them are NO fail.
But Hisense is known to have TV sound like $800- $1000 sound bar. I heard the U9N has even more upgraded sound. I am 1 WEirdo had $5000 tv (came with mini subwoofer) way back, so to this day i never had sound bar lol. When I buy any OTHER tv, a $1700 tv is $2700 to me, a $2300 tV is $3300 to me lol. Then id be like :”ah, the extra $3000 not worth the upgrade of TV image, not worth it”. So i end up stuck with Hisense cuz their SOUND are like $4000 + tv level. Lol. 😂 yes, ppl have thoes $2000 Klipsche LEGIT large Theater sound system, they are better.

Dont compare SONY with the brand like TCL or Hisense , unless China brands are sponsoring you .
Below are of the tricks the reviewers used when evaluating tv , whether you want to the glass is half empty or the glass is half full .
One example , if you say SONY tv is not the blackest Black , i hv seen seen has a much blacker Black ‘ , this will create impression SONY is not the best .
Or you say like , TCL is an outstanding tv for the price , I highly reccomend this tv . This will sound very impressive .
SONY basically is the best tv , i dont care if robot measurement indicate other wise . IT is your eyes you hv to trust l the color , the detail and the upscaling of lower reso content are the best .
