This video helped me a lot. I chose the U8k because it's on sale at Walmart right now for $898. I dont regret it at all because sound quality is important to me. I do have a home stereo, but there are times I want to listen quieter than that can provide. Most of my watching is in a darkened room, so the brightness isnt all that important to me. Either way, I feel I couldnt have gone wrong though. Thank you for this. Youve made a subscriber out of me.

Thank you for the reviews, and, in particular, this head to head comparison. Lots of information to digest but as you said, anybody would be pleased with either model. In the end I chose the Hisense for 3 reasons: 1. I have owned many TCL TVs already, and they are great. I wanted to experience another manfacturer's product to "spread the love". This is my first Hisense TV purchase. 2. The 75" U8K was $300 less than the 75" QM8 at my local Best Buy (both were on sale). That is a signicant difference. 3. The 2 year warranty of the Hisense vs the TCL's 1 year. This helps me sleep better knowing that for the next 2 years I don't have to worry about any issues that may arise. So far I've had the Hisense for a week and am extremely pleased. Although I'm confident that I would have enjoyed the TCL just as much, I have zero regrets. This truly is a fantastic model and dollar for dollar, has got to best the best bang for the buck TV right now. Thanks again. Keep the reviews coming and I'll keep watching.

I just bought a U8K for $750 last weekend and I'm pretty happy with the purchase. I use my PS5 for apps, so no real problem there for me. Also, a side note on the remote, you can stand the remote up on it's end. It's an unusual feature, but I assume that is how Hisense intended the remote to sit.

Love my 75 U8H from last year. Absolutely competes with my LG C2, I actually prefer it in the family room since i never have to adjust picture settings for crushing blacks. @mcslimz 4 месяца назад

@@Icipher4 they both look great in the dark. I play PC games, PS5, and watch TV on my 42" c2 and love it. It's my personal. The Hisense u8h is the big family TV. It also kicks ass at night for TV, hd content. You can't go wrong with either. Every now and then the Hisense would have a smidge of a glow on some content, but it's seriously not a big deal at all when it rarely happens, the mini led panel is great at negating this. If you want peace of mind go OLED. But if you're on a budget don't sleep on mini led u8h or the later models. They're very much identical in my opinion. As a bonus, I prefer Google tv vs LG UI. The Hisense is a beast with all those 4k/OLED demos on RUclips lol. The 75 inch model has a glossy panel unlike the others I seen at Best buy, the Hisense best buy demo tvs were sadly promoted on demo imo vs the LG and sonys against the wall.

I remember years ago when I walked into a Sam's Club and checked out a TCL and noted with approval that it was the only brand with a factory two -year warranty! I picked up a 43" 4k TCL in a pawn shop 4 years ago and it is still doing well to this day. Later on we rented a HiSense A6 and after two months it went back due to a number of issues and we purchased a Sony X90J which is absolutely fantastic after two minutes of fine-tuning. But I am all for competition and I can hardly wait for the review of the 85UX!

Hey HOnest truth. ME since my (2nd) last 60” Sharp Aquos Quatrum DIEd. D ONLY thing at time would match up was --HISENSE Flagship. I am NOT exaggerating. Cuz coming off from $4000 tv i have picky eyes. I went to BESTBUY loooking around all kinda sucked. Yes some 4 K more advanced in resolution but d Color just odd.
Luckily -Stop d Fomo, n Quatum TV. Those 2 were giving HOnest reviews. I snatched Hisense n VERY VEYR VERY sceptical. But yeah ME was JUST BLOWN AWAY Floored. Same with my Husbnd. He was pro Sony. Same was i. I had PINK SONY laptop in the 2010s, n i have 2 sets sony ear buds $300 each. Like their TV just not d SAME as Sharp or HIsnse. Yes they are good, but color just different.
I CAN BET-- a LOT of money on Caleb UX --Hisense review.
He is going to put UX on -FILM Maker mode.
Then BACKLIGHT (over all panel) brightness to left at 100% bloodily bright.
Then “Brightness” (black level, front panel black adjustment) left at --50%
N he will turn motion processing off.
He will change color from WARM 1 or Warm 2 to like Cold or “standard”
And he will Absolutely change --Color space from “native “ (natrual) to “AUTO” (which will make image look like shi)
He has done that to last 4 Gen Hisense. So its predictable. Also this is exact the BS u are seeing it now when Hisense vs TCL.

Thanks for this excellent comparison video. Personally speaking, I'm almost certain I'd rather spend a few more bucks and buy a QD-OLED or OLED TV instead of choosing between these two LCD models. Since 55" is the biggest screen I need I can save money on a "smaller" TV and invest those savings in better picture quality. I also don't need an especially bright TV because I can control the ambient light in my room. And even though I wouldn't base my final purchasing decision on the design of the remote control, I'll say that wobbly remote controls DO bother me (there are situations where I like to be able to operate the remote with one hand while it's resting on a flat surface - like a computer mouse - and wobbly remotes make that difficult).

I have my own reason for favoring the U8H: According to another trusted testing site, the U8K & its sibling U7K are the only two eARC TVs on the market that support both (a) all four HDR formats (HDR10, HDR10+, DV, HLG) AND (b) passthru of all four lossless / uncompressed surround sound formats (Dolby TrueHD & MAT, both with or without Atmos; DTS-HD MA with or without DTS:X; and especially multichannel PCM 5.1 / 7.1). Sony TVs & 2023 LG OLEDs will do (b), but don't support HDR10+; one 2023 Samsung model also does (b) but omits DV. All the sets on the market before the U7K & U8K that passed (a) limited PCM to 2.0 channels and/or blocked DTS-HD MA, a huge annoyance to me. Getting past that is why I just ordered a U8K.

I live where ATSC 3.0 is available so a big selling point. 3.0 content is limited at present. It really sounds like price at the moment of purchase could be the big swing factor. I have a Hisense 55U8G which doubles as my PC/game monitor and the 65U8H in my living room. The 65U8H is the first TV I've owned that doesn't require a soundbar. I did gild the lily and have my Jamo 5.1.2 speakers and a Denon 2700H hooked up to it. Nothing out for now that would tempt me to replace either TV.

If Hisense made an 85" version I would likely have chosen it over the Sony. I really like the Sony as well. Got it half price as a last year model. The U8K seems to do a better job with detail in dark scenes if we look at the scene in 14:52 , take a look at Mouse's shirt. It's practically not visible on the TCL, seems like they've artificially crushed the blacks and lifted the brightness to portray a higher contrast ratio.

Difficult really to tell if that's just the way their camera is picking up the two screens. It might be an optical illusion due to the background wall panel behind the units, but it almost looks like the two TVs aren't quite flush with each other, like they've been angled inward at the center. Also, I don't think Caleb mentioned if these comparisons were based on out-of-the-box or calibrated. I'm guessing the former. From reading/watching other reviews and comparisons, the U8K handles shadow detail better in some cases whereas the QM8 does a better job at tone mapping. It does sound like the differences are minimal though, definitely not a massive gulf between the two on either front.

Not certain that it matters but - in the comparison of the foil on the wine bottle and the greyness vs the blackness of the screens - surely you can see what wee can see in the long shots, which is that far more white light is being reflected onto the Hisense from the wall across from the TV than is being reflected from what appears to be a very dark wall below the stairs reflected in the TLC TV. If you want us to believe these comparisons - the TVs truly need to be tested under the same conditions. I think its fair to say - you prefer the TCL and it shows.

I have that problem. But when i disable local dimming the lines disappear. I went to the store and checked the tv it had the same problem. When i used grayscale, the lines are visible (on device youtube source and playstation 5). but when i watch high bit rate content there is no problem. The servise told me that this is normal for this TV, but the U7KQ does not have the problem when i test it in the store. Thoughts? I wish that you could take a look at my TV, , i need a expert, i don't believe them. They say if i return the tv and get the same model the same problem will be present. I like the ASTC 3.0 tuner is cool so we can finally get 1080p OTA, but I mostly prefer the Hisense U8K because it looks like the TCL QM8 was washing things out too much on the bright side and crushing some of the blacks. Hisense U8K seemed to maintain the in-between shades and details better even if it did not get us bright or as dark as the TCL QM8. The other kicker for me is that I have heard repeatedly that the built-in sound on the Hisense is much better and I would like to go without a sound bar -- which is supposedly a thing with the Hisense. The thing that is nagging at me is if I want the Sony X90L which is not as bright nor as good with the black levels, but supposedly has MUCH better processing -- especially with handling motion. Decisions. Decisions.

Personally I've always been a bit more of a TCL fanboy so I'd probably have a hard time going away from that between these 2 TVs. But one important advantage I would say that the Hisense has here is the ability to get a 55" model. I have a TCL 65" 65S555 that I got a for a great deal earlier this year in my living room, but if I was looking for a TV for any other place in my house, 55" would probably be about the max size I could get. I definitely think that hurts the QM8 for TCL. I'm also interested to see whether or not TCL would come out with a Roku version of this. My previous TV and current TV are both TCL Roku TV models and I've always liked the interface so that would make me pretty hesitant to try a new one like Google TV.

Hisense U8 series has--SIGNIFICANT Speakers. I cant explain. It’s like U expect that from at least $500+ sound bar setup.
Long ago,,,we were looking to get NEW premium CAR, we got Infiniti V6 engine nice car. Came with 12 BOSE speakers. After that…when I went to CAR show…All I care was “what each car speaks sound like”.
I cant o back to Shaky, snappy, chunky noise speakers. TCL Roku speaker can be very BUZZYING.
Ppl dont realize HOW TV speaker MAKE the TV watching often more than pictures. U8K has VERY significant advantage with its SPEAKERS.I have tried BOSE 300 sound bar. Against 65” Hisense 2021 model i have at home. D BOSE 300 level sound like junk. Need BOSE 600 to match. That’s 2 yr old Gen.
U8K will have full theatre experience with d sound. Especially for movie n steaming. 😅

@@birdtj82 I definitely could see how that could be a big difference-maker for a lot of people. Personally, I'm running my TV audio through a receiver to some really high quality speakers and a nice subwoofer so the TV's on board speakers don't really matter that much to me. But it's definitely a good piece of information to take note of.

Really need the TCL QM8 85" vs Sony X93L comparison in order to know if the Sony premium is worth the cost difference. A lot of people including me are waiting to make a purchase decision. Unfortunately, many BB stores do not have the TCL QM8 on display.

No agree about Hisense remote, and something else. But Hisense remote adapt Perfectly with the oval shape of your palms (very ergonomic), you can even feel it, better than a square. And I love also, the fact that has a flat base. Ty Caleb 👍

An observation - everything changed when you flipped to the comparison disc via hdmi 😂
Methink the problems with the onboard software appearance tainted not just the Matrix comparisons but the entire experience (I thought the tcl was looking better everytime as well).
Once you switched to the disc, it was like we both felt the Hisense won every single scene.

Are you using a US-version of the Hisense tv? Here in the Netherlands it is not shipped with two feet on the sides, but with one large one in the middle, which is really annoying if you want to place a soundbar close in front of the tv.

I just purchased the 85" QM8 and I absolutely love it!! I've been reading and watching all the reviews between these 2 TVs, and my personal preference had me lean towards the TCL, especially since I do have a bright livingroom. But for those talking about how the brightness can take away the details some, I've noticed dropping brightness down from 100 to 80 does help clear picture a little better. Also, I didn't have this problem, thankfully, but some people might have to play the TCL lottery regarding no defects from the manufacturer.

You could also leave brightness at 100 and up the gamma one or two notches instead. :)

Excellent Review sir! I was actually out looking for a 65" TV for my Bar/Lounge area of my home. My criteria: Overall solid PQ, mostly in a darker environment, although there are windows in there. Sound Quality was a BIG factor as I do not want to use a soundbar as I am hanging it and want to limit extra mounting and additional peripherals and Best Bang for my Buck. Initially a VERY helpful and knowledgeable salesman at Best Buy (who ironically is from Japan and Sony certified), when I gave him my criteria, showed me the TCL. It was very impressive! In fact, I was prepared to buy it. Unfortunately they had none new in box for sale. Not even for ordering online. A testimony to the popularity of this TV. I need the TV now for a big NEW YEARS EVE party we are hosting at my home. So at the latest, would be 2 days from now. He then said, you know what, we have a really nice Hisense that is super comparable. Although they were not side by side, when I watched content on the U8K, my eyes were just as impressed and I have really good vision without need for glasses. Although we did not test out the sound quality, on paper, the U8K clearly wins in this important area for me. Plus, it was new in the box ready to go. So I bought it for $900 (same price as the QM8).
I also read a detailed review on RTINGS that I have trusted for many years. They pointed out that the U8K was better out of the box without calibration. That is VERY appealing to me as well. They also have it edging out the TCL very slightly. Splitting hairs really.
I do know a thing or two about TV.s and great PQ as I currently own a Sony BRAVIA XR X95K and a Epson 5050UB in my Home Theater showing on a 135" Silver Screen.

That facial expression was gold. 😅 I had never see anyone flipping head to compare that fast it was 😅. N he finally JSUT came over to see the U8K 75” run around checking price n angles etc for longest time

Great comparison! Surprised the Hisense has better gradation performance with its 8-bit panel vs TCL’s 10-bit. And really the TCL should have splurged with a 3.0 tuner. For any antenna users it’s going to be a big deal especially in the next year or two.

So yeah….at end of this video he has throw in SONY X90L “if both dont work out”. It’s avert marketing UP selling . --as if “if u have issue with both, this ….will fix ur issues”. I took business school for it. He always does this werid secret things in his videos. Either : covert put down or cover 1 up.

Yes, since my local stations are via my attic antenna, the 3.0 tuner is a must. Some of my local programing is likely already in 4k.

ATSC 3.0 is under valued, it's awesome. Amazing how 1080p looks so much better than 1080i. Kudos to Hisense for going all in on ATSC 3.0

All in All this video proves why u pay extra for Sony...the processor chip . Sony won't always be the brightest , but u get the directors intent . If that doesn't matter than tcl n hisense the way to go and make your own settings.
Do think Hisense picture is usually better overall.
