#bmwi3 Here I show how to code the I3 using BimmerCode on Android. Gear Camera-Galaxy S10+ Microphone-Pixel A. Edited by- Me Follow me on @twitter BelkinEco Facebook-@EcoBelkin
Updated 042824 Pairing the blue dongle that you are using is going to be through the Bimmercode/link app its self - not through the phones blue settings. The bluetooth dongle I used is Veepeak OBDcheck BLE+-bought in 2020. For those that are looking for the file path and don't care to watch the video- Here- This PC\users phone\Internal storage\Android\data\de.appomotive.bimmercode\files\Backups. Personally, I enabled the full fuel tank capacity because I do drive my I3 on long trips and having that little bit extra fuel could shave time off the trip. I also enabled the hold state of charge. For those longer road trips- this could allow me to potentially skip down time at a charger. I know sounds counter intuitive. Also, can allow me to charge the car without a charger. I.E. when I go into the restaurant to eat- I could run the rex while I’m inside eating..-in theory anyway. I disabled the seat beat chime- because BMW gong sound is awful. Would you prefer to use BimmerCode or software like BMW iDrive coding? What options have you coded on your I3? Never did find a way to keep the hatch unlocked after opening the hatch.
My top coding’s.. Rear daytime running lights, folding door mirrors when locking, default in Sport mode, tyre temperatures alongside pressures, Rolls Royce chimes instead of the annoying bongs.
Is there a way to enable the rearview camera to be selected while driving down the road? I have the Bimmercode app and did the Rex, extra fuel and AM radio and have heard the camera can be done but haven't found the option in the app. Thanks!
I have not found a solution. I am pondering that in idrive- the auto lock feature- could turned off by the user. That may stop the hatch from auto locking.
If your car is optioned with passive entry like mines then you can have the key fob on you or in your pocket and open the tailgate with the car locked and vice versa
@@EcoBelkin I bought mine two years ago, and it was coded, I'm taking it into BMW service department for a warranty claim and I would love to put it back to factory settings. I would just like to know what is the next step. Thank you.
I'm actually at home now trying to revert things. Everything is going well, but I want to revert the limit of fuel capacity that's under instrument cluster and when I click on it, there's no other option but active, it says that the only way to revert it is to use a back up, which I don't have because I bought this vehicle coded already. Do you know of any other way to revert it?
The Rex part is coded. By default it's not an option show in idrive on American i3s before 2017? I think. The bimmer app is compatible with allbmws I believe.
Not sure you can turn off the lock feature. Part of the safety system when charging I think. But with some dc chargers- that locking is Hella annoying.
There are lots of people talking on reddit about coding thier 2017 i3's with no problem.. Where did you hear that You can't code a 2016 or older? @EcoBelkin
@@EcoBelkin Okay! I thought you meant you couldn't code it at all, phew! I put an order in for the reader yesterday and I take possession of my 2017 i3 in a couple days.. Is it just the fuel tank expansion, how about the other useful coding, like the option to turn on the gas motor at 75% or less? Do you still have the i3, are you enjoying it? thanks for getting back to me.
@@David-by3im I still have my I3. I do enjoy it- but I would not buy another BMW. You should be able to code for HOLD STATE OF CHARGE as in America I don't that was ever enabled.

That gong is hella annoying.
I didn't know there are rear DRLs.
Explanation mark came on after seatbeltthe chassis how to get it off
Thanks for the very thorough step by step. Gave me the confidence to finally code it. Excellent Video!
Glad it helped!
Great stuff and thank you for taking the time to explain more in-depth it’s appreciated
Thanks... I had just replaced my old phone a couple weeks back, and was wondering how to transfer my Backups! Now I can go out and play some more!
How is the i3 running after years of ownership? How long have you had it? How many miles? Any issues?
Four years this March. Currently 130k miles. No issues other then what I have filmed for it.
Can you please explain how you go into accessory mode?
Just press the start/stop button without your foot on the brake. Car should say in accessory mode.
Thanks for the video. I was able add the extender.
Is there a code list online that you can overlook and see all the code before coding? it would make it it a lot quicker and less coding .
did I hear you right? I can't do this with my 2014?
2014 here as well. R we SOL to code?
Yup 😅 I’m 2016 so im good to code 😊
He said 2016 and OLDER i3’s. You should be good to go with your 2014.

That I am not sure of.
Well that's something nobody mentioned before. I have a 2014. 😢
Do you have a link for the exact dongle
not a link- the one I use is Veepeak OBDcheck BLE+
How do you set the tailgate so it unlocks with the doors? I hate it when the doors are unlocked and you have to push button to unlock the tail gate .
Man I am with you on that! I hate unlocking the doors and the tail gate is still locked.
I have not found a solution.
@@EcoBelkin How do you set the hatch so it stays unlocked after unlocking it?
I have not found a solution.
I am pondering that in idrive- the auto lock feature- could turned off by the user. That may stop the hatch from auto locking.
If your car is optioned with passive entry like mines then you can have the key fob on you or in your pocket and open the tailgate with the car locked and vice versa
@@TechyGamerVibeZ My I3 doesn't have that passive entry. My expedition does and its hella useful.
How do you pair the OBD dongle?
In the phones Bluetooth settings, like any other Bluetooth device, or might be through the app
@@rp9674 figured it out. It’s through the app.
I’m having trouble connecting. Any tips?
@@DeeeZeee99it’s thru the app not Bluetooth settings
Does anybody know how to reverse the coding back to factory settings?
As long as you saved your original configuration you can reload that file or just back in and revert the settings you changed

Ah well. You'd have to go through each item and change it back to default setting. Other wise I don't have am answer on that one.

Are all i3 compatible with Bimmer app?
Are all bmw i3 compatible with Bimmer app? Mine is a 2016 with Rex but the Rex doesn’t show up on the screen. Will it appear after coding?

I want turn off DC fast charging lock function.

always wear your seatbelt.
Correct.
However that BMW gong is Hella annoying
No need to worry about it if you are wearing that seatbelt like you should.
@@inkspot78 Correct-But I am human, and I don't need a light or sound chime to remind me to put my seat belt on.

For the fuel tank coding is 2016 and older. 2017+ the tanks full capacity is available from the factory with no coding.
