    I live here in LA for the last 5 years and when I need to learn new concepts I can learn it much better in spanish (my first language) I don't know how but if you find the way to make bilingual videos or you create a second channel I will subscribe for sure. I do AC for 4 years and refrigeration for 1 ½ years both commercial and always try to learn more and more. But I know I could be better if I learn it in spanish, unfortunately I came to late when I was 30. Gracias hermano! Sos muy buen técnico

    "Yes, our cooler is too hot."
    Well that's because it's not a cooler. It's wired up to be a sauna.

    What's up bro, hey I'm a rookie refrigeration tech too, plenty of commercial HVAC tho... My question to you is, if that is a medium temp box, do they really need a electric defrost? Could you not just take that out for the time being untill you troubleshoot the DTFD and high limit safety and let it do a off-cycle air defrost?
    Thanks for getting in the RUclips game and making these videos, they really help newbie techs like me!!

      matt scott well, it doesn’t NEED electric defrost but that’s the way the customer has it, so we don’t want to start yanking stuff off of it. It’s a lot easier to just fix it properly and normally we would do that on the spot. This customer however, likes to get a diagnosis first and then they approve the work. A lot of the time, we just have to play by the customers rules.

      Rookie Refrigeration You are so right. I have a few questions I’d really like to run by you if you would take time to email me. My email is: proceb995@gmail.com. I sent you this one because I look but don’t pay too close attention to them. Just subject it “major HVACR questions”. And thank you in advance

    Usually coolers dont need defrost heater, fans run 24\7

    • @rookierefrigeration4357

      Yeah, I still don’t know why this was installed this way but we just leave it as it is unless it causes problems.

    • @guillermowillybianchini5313

      Maybe because it was a freezer in the past

    You are doing a GOOD JOB showing and representing the HVAC/Refrigeration Industry.... Showing the Good, Badd and Ugly... There are so many different avenues one can choose when you come into this field...
    I myself do the same job you are doing in Atlanta, Ga... We take care of Publix, Kroger, Save Alots, primarily.... That on call is a bitch, but part of the job.... But I always recommend people that ask me about the field togo into Refrigeration because you going to do Air Conditioning also....

    Condenser on roof for coolers had timers, no heaters. So was it suppose to air defrost? Managers complaining the box temp would rise at various times . I remove time clocks from circuit and have not had a problem for 16yrs. Fans run constant . Temps always perfect.

      Yup. I have no idea why this was installed this way. We just made it as good as possible. I wasn’t about to start tearing stuff out lol

  • @mariomorua8141
    @mariomorua8141 4 года назад +3

    Rookie Refrigeration, just wondering. If you would have just disconnected all heaters and left fans powered up to run continuously, could that have done it as the complete fix? The defrost timer is working correctly, or maybe could have added or taken off some time.

    • @rookierefrigeration4357
      @rookierefrigeration4357  4 года назад +1

      Mario Morua yes. I could have just made it off cycle defrost. But this is what the customer wanted. We just have to recommend and do what’s needed

    please explain to me how a freezer would be a walk in cooler? If you want to convert to a walk in freezer to cooler, remove the defrost heaters and timeclock. Have the evap fans to run all of the time, youre trying to do a cooler with a freezer application. So the whole thing is messed up. Wire it as a cooler

    Sorry I'm late to the party, but I noticed you were looking at the wrong wiring schematic for this evaporator setup. Heatcraft provides a number of different diagrams, one which specifically addresses when there are contactors in the condensing unit for the fans and defrost heaters. The one you needed should have been one the other diagrams on the unit. Here it is in their systems installation manual at the bottom of p.25: docs.google.com/viewer?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.heatcraftrpd.com%2FPDF%2FI%26O%2FH-IM-CU.pdf
    The way it was wired was basically correct per the schematic, but it looks like they messed up the wiring of the terminator because it (obviously) wasn't working.
    This diagram also shows how that heater limit t'stat was supposed to be connected.
    Hopefully this may help the next time you find this kind of mess. ;)

    Hey dude . shouldn't that temperature bulb be on the suction line because it should be reading that tempreture

    • @rookierefrigeration4357
      @rookierefrigeration4357  4 года назад +1

      pretty cure Forever this thermostat is used for air temperature. So it is reading the box temp as a form of temperature control. Not on the suction line.
