I hate those days when lots of little time-consuming things happen. It feels like time flies by with no results. Good targeted advertising - I got an ice-machine advert on your video.
Good video on a common mistake everyone makes on a daily basis. We all make them in way or another. When you restock your van put 2 of each evap fans on your truck one to put in one for stock. Each rotation. Looked at on of these low profile unit the other day I couldn't believe how clean the evap coil was. Unit it 3 yrs old out in a common area for customers to walk in. Basically a room with to low profile units. Nice video thank you. Be safe be good.
barse ackwards rotation LOL. we all have those days, if it can be done wrong the first time it will! some of us sometimes insists on doing things thrice before it's right. it's always easier from the chair watching ;)
I started stocking the ecm version its reversible and covers a wide range of watts They are more expensive for the customers but more convenient for me P.s. love your videos
I’ve done the same thing with a fan motor, more times then I’d like to admit. I’m at the point now where it’s the first thing I do is check the rotation.
It really seems like that box WANTED to stay at 50. Stat resets, fan motor dies out, etc. You have violated the will of the cooler, Bill. There will be consequences.
Sometimes a job never goes easy you can get a call for a easy fix and i turns out to be a mess sometimes it gets really bad when its very old. But you can only do so much
So the thermostat was switching at the box temp. Could you have moved the wire from the yellow terminal to the blue? Was the thermostat just replaced before you got there by someone else?
it likely had burnt contacts inside, the blue terminal opens on temperature rise, while yellow closes, red is common of the spdt switch. Johnson Controls (A19ABC-74C) if I had to guess. but may have been fixed differential model :)
I thought when you were fiddling with it that the old thermostat turned on when you turned it up above 50 and turned back off when you turned it back down. I was wondering if someone had been playing games and reversed the wiring on that SPDT switch on the thermostat.

Ty for showing the mistake. These types of days are the worst. Appreciate you.
Woot another curious HVAC video!! I really enjoy watching these! Thank you!
Thanks

I like that you included the the wrong motor rotation installation part. Most would have left that out. great vid keep em comin
Thanks 👍
And here I thought I was the only one that had things like this happened to me. I wish I didn't get upset like you LOL.
Really like watching your videos, they’re interesting, informative and when you make a mistake you don’t hide it. Great work 👍👍

A little to late for that fan direction tip as I have already learned the hard way. LOL
Good work 👍👍👍👍
Thanks ✌️

If I'm not mistaken, reversing the polarity on that fan motor, would have reversed the fan direction, and gotten you your desired results.
SPDT.... It matters.. :-)
Nice video 👍
Thanks 👍

the wires on the thermostat were on wrong, set up for heating instead of cooling. It either never worked right or someone just replaced it
That was going through my mind too. Maybe a previous effort by a dabbler.
So, most likely nothing wrong with the old thermostat, just miswired. Can't have been long ago

Poltergeist.....
Wire was on wrong terminal, should have been on blue not red.

Whats the reason for a pump down, I realize its to keep liquid from the compressor, but is it for less parts and simplicity able to short cycle too?
Avoid the liquid component chilling down too much during off-cycle, which could harm the compressor
It helps with refrigerant migration and allows the compressor to reach its normal running compression ratios much faster
You thought you were done with the repair... nope! One of the fan motor on the evaporative coil failed!
As per usual, one thing leads to another
so true
