  • Viral gastroenteritis is an inflammation of the stomach and intestines caused by a viral infection. Its symptoms develop within 24 to 48 hours after exposure to virus.
    If anyone has the stomach bug, he or she may have one or more symptoms, specifically, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. After several days with the stomach bug, dehydration may be developed which may become a serious concern so; the symptoms of dehydration should be watched and medical attention should be sought. That's why, it is critical to get plenty of fluids including fluid replacement solutions with electrolytes along with water to restore the body’s hydration balance.

      If anyone have chills, fever, sore throat, stomach cramps or diarrhea, one should postpone the flight. If you feel healthy otherwise, it is safe to travel.
      At some point while traveling, people can pick up a stomach bug. It is most commonly contracted via contaminated food and water. So, it is vital to make sure that you only drink bottled or fully sterilized water, eat properly cooked and piping hot food, avoid eating cold food including salad and fruits that you can't peel yourself, remove any ice in the drink as water may not be fully sterilized, wash your hands before you eat and use an alcohol based hand gel to ensure that all the harmful bacteria are eliminated.
      In most cases, viral gastroenteritis is not harmful. However, it can become dangerous if it leads to dehydration.

    I've recently got the stomach flu or stomach bug. On Friday 10th, around 3-6 AM. I was feeling very thirsty, so I put a water bottle inside a freezer to make it cold since I like my waters like that, and when it was at the perfect temperature for me, I took it out, and I started guzzling down the water because I was super thirsty. Seconds later, I had a feeling between my stomach and my chest, I forced it out because I usually get burps, sadly that wasn't what I got in return. (Or what I expected) I started vomiting, and tried to hold it in, but it kept coming out which forced out of my mouth, I called my mom for help since I'm only 12 and didn't have any type of experience and didn't know it was a thing. I tried getting into the bathroom, but I didn't make it in time. Ever since that happened to me, I started feeling weak, and parts on my body started to hurt. I didn't attend school that morning because the last time I vomited I was 7, and between those ages. They didn't feel the same. So, I stayed home and laid down in my bedroom for the rest of the day. I had trouble getting up, and this weekend I was going to my aunt/uncles house to spend time with my male cousin (same age as me). Those plans were canceled. Maybe you guys can give me some advice on what to do, it would be helpful...

    • @equationbypharmacistmoms6802
      @equationbypharmacistmoms6802  Год назад +1

      Make sure you get plenty of rest because diarrhea and dehydration may make one tired and weak. Your body needs rest to fight off the infection.
      It is advised to stay home for 24 to 48 hrs after your symptoms have gone away to make sure that you are symptom free.
      To prevent the spread of infection to others, isolate yourself and wash your hands frequently.
      Don't eat hard-to-digest, spicy, acidic, cheesy and greasy foods. Don't force yourself to eat if you don’t feel like eating. Try to focus on keeping yourself hydrated. Sip on clear fluids. Water is the best option. But if you can't tolerate liquids, you can try chewing on ice chips.
      Don't take anti-diarrheal medication unless advised by the doctor as it can make harder for your body to get rid of virus.
      You will likely be able to fight off this virus without seeing a healthcare provider. Do seek medical care right away if your symptoms fail to improve or resolve over time.
      Take care.

    • @equationbypharmacistmoms6802
      @equationbypharmacistmoms6802  Год назад

      Viral infections such as stomach flu usually make diabetes more difficult to control as your blood glucose levels will rise higher than usual when the body tries to fight off the virus.
      If such is a case, you should continue taking your insulin or diabetic pills as usual and keep track of your blood glucose test results.
      Drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration. But you need to take small portions of sweet beverages to prevent your blood glucose from getting too high.
      If you are losing your weight without trying, it could be a sign of high blood glucose levels. So you need to weigh yourself every day.
      Keep monitoring your body temperature because fever can be a sign of infection.
      We wish you a speedy recovery.

    I am getting over this now. I was in the bed almost all afternoon yesterday after throwing up and diarrhea all morning. I threw up all my food from previous day and once that was gone, I started puking water and diarrhea. I had no idea this was highly contagious, I was cleaning up my son's puke not realizing I was exposing myself. The "knot in your stomach " feeling keeps you down and out. And the sight of food made me frown. The smell of food unbearable. I almost threw up after glancing at a bag of sunflower seeds. I threw up so hard, that my upper jaw line is sore, (the next day,) an the muscles in my chest are a little sore still. (I have a fear of vomiting which probably made it worse). I went to sleep last night with some cold chills down my legs. Woke up feeling alot better. (Knot in my stomach gone). But I only ate once today. Glad it's pretty much over!!!!!

    • @equationbypharmacistmoms6802
      @equationbypharmacistmoms6802  Год назад

      The virus can survive on hard surfaces for a number of days and can remain in the stool for up to two weeks or more after recovery.
      Likewise, the infected person's vomit is likely to be infectious to anyone who comes in contact with the person's vomit.
      It is likely that virus will still be present, if an appropriate disinfectant is not used to clean the contaminated areas.
      Rubber or disposable gloves should be put on, before wiping the area with a paper towel. The area should then be disinfected using bleach-based household product according to the directions indicated on the label. The area then should be cleaned using soap and hot water.

      Recovery from stomach flu varies from person to person. Dehydration due to stomach bug can leave an individual extremely weak. Stay hydrated to stay active and bounce back.
      Give your body rest and try to get the amount of sleep recommended according to your age. Cut back on your normal activity.
      As there is no clear timeline, one may take a month or two to return to normal activities.
      In fact, the fatigue goes away when the body has fight off infection. But post viral fatigue can occur if the fatigue lasts for a longer period of time after the infection has gone.

      Many people experience bloating after having stomach flu because of bacterial overgrowth in small intestine.
      Consuming ginger such as drinking ginger tea and ginger ale, taking ginger capsules or powder and chewing a piece of ginger can offer some relief from bloating.
      Drinking mint tea can also help to treat gas and bloating.

    I’ve lost 10 pounds this week thanks to norovirus. I’ve never felt this miserable omg. I got Zofran to help with the extreme nausea. I don’t wish this on anyone!

      Ondansetrone having brand name Zofran is used to treat vomiting and diarrhea in emergency situations. It usually starts working within 30 minutes and may take up to 2 hours to reach its full effects.
      Hope you are feeling well now.
