    I've never practiced ear training before, but came across this vid just before a walk and decided listen while out on it, and it was incredibly helpful! Was getting quality right about 70% of the time and even started getting some of the inversions right towards the end. Thanks so much, will be checking out your other vids.

    Fully agree with other comments: this is the best ear training video on RUclips that I can use on the go!
    Question for others: I wonder if everyone finds singing all the individual notes on your own without hearing the arpeggiated notes is harder than identifying the chord quality itself? That's been my experience, so I'm not able to identify the inversions without hearing the individual notes played.

    Great stuff! Thanks a bunch. (Audio quality is so-so, but that’s obviously a secondary consideration.)
    I took the usual Freshman and Sophomore Theory and Ear Straining 🤪 waaay back in the mid-‘80s. After decades of work-work-work, I’ve recently checked back on my ear-training level, and it was utterly humiliating!
    Nevertheless, on these particular exercises, I did much much better than I expected!

      Oh my god that’s me and I’m stressing about it haha, I went online to take a practice exam and every single Minor I got incorrect for putting Major, and vise versa. I can differentiate the difference in the notes but I can’t pinpoint a M and m :(

      The 1st inversion of M7 corresponds to a minor6 in root position and 1st inversion of m7 corresponds to a major6 in root position. Adding the 7 ‘flips’ the expected quality of major/minor

    • @StephanieDouglassMusic
      @StephanieDouglassMusic  2 года назад

      That's a tricky one! For me it's the crunch between the root and the 7th in the M7 chord. They tend to feel "floaty" to me.
