Hi Tangible! I believe if you're holding for the long term such as 25 years, its not to crucial timing the market as long term gains will out whey the cost now. However, having said that, I can't help but find myself trying to wait till the premiums drop a bit before I buy. Awesome content as always.

I'm with you on this one. I would pay a bit more for something dinosaur related (to a point) being SilverSaurus. Some of the Dino coins I have are limited but being limited doesn't always mean something has more value. Out of approx 25 oz of gold and 1000 oz of silver we're talking a few oz of silver that I've paid a bit more than bullion. There is a small stack of Crowns forming and I've a few sovs that were slightly above the basic bullion price but they were well priced for what they are. Generally I'm buying low priced bullion on a regular basis when the price is right and if I see something outside of this that looks great value I will stray sometimes.

Proofs can be a minefield, but if you buy the right ones you can see a quick appreciation of the value. The great engravers series being a prime example. It seems if they're sold out on the day of release they'll probably do well is the overall consensus of opinion. I think if you're going to go down the numismatic route it's probably worth buying older proofs where they have a proven track record of sales prices over years. This would be more easily researchable. Anything newly released is going to be a speculative purchase although I'd like to think this years sovereign is a safe bet due to the fact that every other year with a one off design has risen in value.
