Wwwwaaaahhhh.....So amazing! Even if you're not a fan of Medusa, you certainly become a fan after watching this. And you're choice of music puts it in the zone. Many applause 👏👏👏🎨💙
HAUNTINGLY FANTASTIC!! Those soul piercing eyes! Adding the little bloodshot touch was very cool! Great snake skins, (a lot of work) heads and coloring, it’s just beautiful! That music was on point! The whole experience was spooky as heck and I loved it! 🐍
I am deadly terrified of snakes so I thought I would not be able to watch this one! But I did and once I started I couldn’t stop watching. I am mesmerized by the whole process, creating the patterns with the gelli plate, using the inks for the snake colors, then the portrait, those eyes….. And to top it off the music you choose as a background makes this a surreal experience. I am in a trance LOL. You never cease to amaze and inspire me to some day paint like that!
Thank you so much! It was a fun process . I think the snakes are my favorite part, but I'm glad they're not real! I don't think I would enjoy that many living snakes in one place.😊 I'm so happy you enjoyed it though!❤
Cannot give this enough thumbs up. I can see you put a lot of thought and pre-planning into this piece. Absolutely love the video presentation. Excellent Art work.
LOVE IT!!!! I have always been fascinated by Medusa and the Art Nouveau style suits her beautifully ❤ Wow Lydia, she lives.... 👌🏻🎨🙌🏻. I love this style as well, sometimes think I should have been a 1920's baby 😁
Good grief, this is totally badaSSSS! Such cool ideas going on here with the snake creation! And watching the face change & eventually morph into her final look... It's just a phenomenal piece of art. Love this one!
Holy bananas. Incredible. I was eating and literally stopped chewing bc I was stunned. Especially at the oil layering segment, right when the volume to the eyes was added. Wowzerz
You're my favorite. Also, you inspire me to want to try painting. I see that you hold your paint brush like I hold a pencil and that is exciting. Of course I have no idea how to paint, but maybe if I binge watch all your videos I can learn by osmosis? No? I'm still watching them all.
OMGG! I am In LOVE with this gorgeous Medusa! Well done! I just found your channel tonight and I am already a huge Fan! Thanks so much for sharing your process here with all of us! Just Breathtaking!
Whoa, Sunshine, you need to be making these into some kind of Tarot deck! Brilliant to make the snakeskin via gelli plate. The music with this was pretty wild - pun intended! Amazing painting, and getting to watch the process even more so. I had to go over to the stove for a moment and when I turned back around to my computer screen and caught sight again of those just-painted eyes looking through me - holy s**t, batgirl - gave me the heebie jeebies! As usual this was amazing. You are brilliant!
Hi Janina! I have thought about doing that! That would be a lot of cards! Thank you! This painting was a lot like a puzzle with all the snakes, but it was fun in a challenging way.❤😊
@lydiabroderick867 Yeah, the snakes were a bit like a Celtic knot! It was interesting to see the snake head right adjacent to her face! It was great watching you place the gelli papers down in the various shapes for the different snakes. Yup, that would be a lot of paintings to do a Tarot deck... but if you keep doing occasional ones like these you may end up having that many anyway! Happy painting!
This is absolutely amazing. Love the use of colour; it all blends so beautifully and yet each one stands out too. Fabulous music. I just tried to buy one of his CDs but they're all sold out...I'm not surprised! Thank you, Lydia. :)
WOW I luv your work, such a Goth look to this - all except I am terrified of snakes 🐍 😅. Fantastic Art regardless - that face is SO amazing. ❤❤❤. I also love the things you use to make designs, I recognized a few of them lol. Thank-you!
Wow! I think I missed this one! I love the burlap texture, it looks like chainmail and would be awesome as armour on a Templar Night's head gear with a bright light coming down from above (hint, hint 😉)... Also love how you do eyes, so grabby even right from the beginning.. Oh and the creepy Gregorian music, I'm gonna take a guess and say you're Tim Burton fan?? lol As always, love your work Lydia it's a pleasure to watch someone so creative... Cheers, Neil...
Haunting Nightmare! Your artwork is magnificent and the colors are awesome. I am terrified of snakes, don't like them at all. I did see you glue any pieces to make it a collage? I may have been so scared that I closed my eyes. It came out amazing.
This is one of my favorites of yours. Really cool with all that texture in the mono prints adding so much. I wish you would do a tutorial on how to draw and paint faces because you are so good at it and I have tried all my life and haven’t got it yet. Also, when I have told several artist friends that you do an acrylic painting first, essentially, and then paint over it with oils, they are all very surprised and say they are afraid it will peel off. The gesso is acrylic but it’s meant to be absorbent and regular acrylic paints wouldn’t do that. So I’m curious how long these have stood the test of time?
You can totally paint oil over acrylic. Believe it or not it's a regular practice in the professional art world. It doesn't peel off. That's a common misconception. You just have to make sure the acrylics are completely dry before applying oils.😊 However, you can't paint acrylic over oil. That's when it can peel off. Thank you so much for your comment.
I really have a fear and dislike of snakes, that said I watched the whole video without heart palpations and I thought the painting was great considering I don’t like snakes, I still like watching your creative process and painting skill.
Wow, just wonderful! I have always had a soft spot for her as well. What a tragic story to be damned by your own Goddess for being raped in her temple. A big reason Athena was never a Goddess I was drawn to.
If you wouldn’t think me too intrusive what is your full time job?? I too work but want to paint full time !! Your work is MAGNIFICENT …. I hope to realize my own talent and am INSPIRED BY YOUR WORK ….THANK YOU!!!
She is amazing and we are all now turned to stone with her gaze. Love the use of the gelli thing to make the scales. Question - when you do our oil glaze layer, do you thin the oil with any medium or just use transparent oil paint? I'm learning!
Just saw this and it’s amazing! I miss your dulcet tones, but I love the background music. I think you might have mixed up another commenter with me, unless you call someone else mom? Bravo!
I would love to see a Gaia painting, possibly a pregnant mother figure with a little Buddhist symbolism thrown in. Just an idea I had and wanted to share.
I think you are headed to the dark side with the art and videos girl. What happened to tigers and zebras. Save yourself...look toward the light!! Awesome piece by the way. 😉
Thank you! I have been reading a lot of mythology stories lately. They are what I find inspiring right now. I tend to go through phases with inspiration depending on what I'm reading or thinking about. These paintings are kind of time consuming. I'll probably break it up with some other mixed media paintings in between.❤😊

Thank you!!! Yes! Peter Gundry is my favorite modern composer. I listen while painting and his music just creates a mood. Love it...😊

tHISSSSSS is absolutely so darkly beautiful. One of your most stunning pieces. Vibrant yet chiaroscuro-esque? I made an adjective. Love.
Thank you so much! I love the new adjective too!❤😊

Amazing 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼just invested in a little gelli plate, thanks for the inspiration 😬😬
Awesome! The gelli plate is a lot of fun... Kind of addictive once you start!😁❤
@@lydiabroderick867 I am discovering that 😉😬
I just had to watch it again on a slower speed...lol Her stare is so intense!
Genius!!!!!
Your technique for the scales was very clever. Love it! Are there more mythology paintings coming?
I really have a fear and dislike of snakes, that said I watched the whole video without heart palpations and I thought the painting was great considering I don’t like snakes, I still like watching your creative process and painting skill.

She is amazing and we are all now turned to stone with her gaze. Love the use of the gelli thing to make the scales. Question - when you do our oil glaze layer, do you thin the oil with any medium or just use transparent oil paint? I'm learning!
Hi! I use Galkyd gel medium by Gamblin with my oil paints. It not only helps with glazing, but it also speeds up the drying time.😊
@@lydiabroderick867 Thanks!!
Mega!!!
Just saw this and it’s amazing! I miss your dulcet tones, but I love the background music. I think you might have mixed up another commenter with me, unless you call someone else mom? Bravo!
Ooops! Yeah... I fixed that!😂❤❤❤
Another wonderful video! Question: why do you use matte gel medium as your glue - and why not any other adhesive? Thank you.
Thank you! I use it because it seals the papers and it doesn't yellow over time.😊
I would love to see a Gaia painting, possibly a pregnant mother figure with a little Buddhist symbolism thrown in. Just an idea I had and wanted to share.
Gripping… 👌🏻
Lydia what sort of paper did you use to make the cello prints ?
I think you are headed to the dark side with the art and videos girl. What happened to tigers and zebras. Save yourself...look toward the light!! Awesome piece by the way. 😉

Where did you find the snake skin pieces?
I made them with a gelli plate then cut them out. It's in the video.😊
Be careful Lydia...I just sent that message to my friends. A shame I can't spell MARRY.😅
❤
