- Hello Everyone!
Today is my Birthday! Perfect time to use some pastel cake frosting colors on this mixed media portrait. I am trying to be more intuitive with my techniques and trying to trust the process more. So, I start out with an abstract background using a variety of tools and colors that I really enjoy but am unaccustomed to using. Then because of the "Figure it out as I go" method that I am employing, I sort of fumble my way through the rest of the painting.

Golden Heavy Body Acrylics - Teal, Neutral Gray
Liquitex Basics - Bright Aqua Green, Rose Pink, Unbleached Titanium
Amsterdam - Titanium White
Winsor & Newton - Light Violet, Powder Blue
Master's Touch - Sea Foam Green, Light Coral, Indian Yellow, Gray Blue
Liquitex Heavy Body - Cadmium Orange, Light Pink
Artist's Loft - Turquoise (Acrylic Ink)

Lydia, I watched your video. Your's is the best example of that I've seen in a while. I loved the multiple layering of templets. I wish you might explain what type of sprayes you use.

The piece is 👌🏻🎨💜, great mood, colours work well with design to create it. I am always surprised how the grungy backgrounds help set the tone of the painting!! I do always keep on working on a painting, especially when it doesn't feel right until it does😅 even if it goes where I didn't initially expect it to😁. Hehehe, even the watercolour, often they don't look like watercolour anymore due to addition of gouche and marker, but it works....

Did you ever had that phase, when you have so much fun by just "smiering" and working with colors and tools, you over do the work or is there not such thing like over worked?
I really like that there is a kind of cold but also warms to this painting is. It makes me feel like the time right between winter and spring, like last days of winter. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I love it.

Thank you! I'm using a mixture of mainly Golden, Liquitex and Master's Choice.
I've never ever been able to paint faces or anything close to realism. It might be the shadowing and placement. Any advice?!
Did you take the Milan class? I think that’s what your style reminds me of.
