I love it when you say..."I want to experiment with..." then create a masterpiece. 😕 Your generosity in sharing your process does not go unrecognized. Thanks!
Wow, thankyou.great video , Appreciate it.ive done alot of chalkboard art but never tried painting, never heard of glazing with oils , came out really really well.
I love how you take a reference photo as a jumping off point and just make it your own with a creative twist. That blue/orange combo is a favorite of mine. Wonderful piece! I'd heard of chiaroscuro but not tenebrism so thanks for that info 👍👍 Hope you feel better soon.
Love the hair > branches concept and using the black. I admire how you move from sketch to detail so instinctively, even using different techniques. Thank you!
Get well soon Lydia. I have been through your earlier videos and watched your work and wanted to say how far you have come. I am just going to say it. I love your work, you know this. I love how you use different techniques and the concepts you come up with. Love the colour combinations and styles. You are really producing some great pieces. Take care of yourself ❤
When you explain what you do, I am like...oh sure I can do that...when I start trying paint a face...nop...stil not able to paint a face ... I like this mystic paintings and your concepts!
Awesome work! I love it. I, too, enjoy painting or collaging on black canvas. I can hardly stand to use white canvases any more. Thank you for sharing your techniques and I hope you feel better now (from the cold).
Beautiful as always and I think I am going to try a black background in acrylics. I have done a few oils in the past with dark backgrounds, as I love that look too, but I have yet to try in acrylics. You have inspired me yet again, thanks ☺️.
Even with a head-cold you're amazing and inspiring. Love this latest piece on black. I'll be incorporating the concept in some of my artwork and see where it goes.
So helpful! I just had an epic fail trying to paint on black gesso. The colors disappeared as they dried. Now that I have seen this, I will try again. Thx
Beautiful, love the concept and imagery, moving from autumn to winter!! 👌🏻🙌🏻🎨💖 I did quite a few horse portraits and nudes on a black surface. I literally felt as if I was revealing the image by painting in the light. Bonus, the artwork always popped😁.
How lucky I had just bought a couple of black canvases. Love the idea of finding a free photo and adding a creative spin. Love the painting ❤ hope you feel better asap.
Lydia i loved that you continue to explore and experiment. The concept of the shift of the seasons would be cool to try again with all 4 of the seasons. What do you think?
Wow very nice painting lyda. I still always follow you channel. I want to be ask One questions can i use colour Yellow orche . ultramarine blue and Scarlet red in painting landscapes on black canvas
Really interesting technique! Turned out beautiful! Question: when glazing with oils, what medium do you use and what proportions of medium to oil paint (approximately)? Love this! Thanks for being such an inspiration! 🤩😍🤩
Hi there! I use Galkyd gel medium by Gamblin. I don't really measure the amounts for glazing. I eyeball it til I achieve the desired transparency. A little oil paint goes a long way when glazing.😊
Hello! I looove this so much! I found you in hopes that i could learn some tricks to get started on painting on a black canvas. Would you mind sharing the oil glaze you used? I've only ever worked with acrylic paint. Thank you!
Being sick sucks. So……..stop it. Contrasts in the painting works wonderfully. Love the use of term “chiaroscuro” - out of the darkness of obscurity (see what I did there?)
Fascinating. It looked like she was wearing a hood, which I really liked, until you highlighted the top of her hair, also if you just glazed the face with oils, wouldn't that part look shiny compared with the rest of the painting
I love it when you say..."I want to experiment with..." then create a masterpiece. 😕 Your generosity in sharing your process does not go unrecognized. Thanks!
Thank you Michelle!!!❤❤❤

@@lydiabroderick867 Thank you Lydia! I have Galkyd Lite, so I will keep playing with it. 😊
Love your work and enjoy learning from you. A question? How did you trace your sketch on to the black canvas. Thank you for sharing.
I use saral paper. You can purchase on Amazon.🤗

I glazed the other half as well with Paynes gray. I also varnish my paintings, so that makes the finish uniform either way.😊
