I had 1 hand on the garbage can lid about to toss a broken hose, and I'm like you know what let me check RUclips there's probably a way to fix this. Did not disappoint. You saved me a hose, thanks!

Thank you! It took me weeks of sulking from having no one to help fix my garden house. I cut the hose and still couldn't get the adapter in. After the first three minutes of your video (and a little boiling water for the hose), I put everything together correctly! Very grateful!

Last year I refitted my hoses and did not notice the fittings were dissimilar metal. Thumbs up 👍

I've used two different hose ends and they both had small leaks, so I put a small amount of silicone sealant on the barb before pushing it into the hose. I do the same with the hose splicer connections.

Using liquid soap on the inside of the hose [use your pinky for 360-degree coverage of the soap] should get your hose to slip on easily.

I’m glad you didn’t have to
I have no intentions of that - there’s nothing wrong with the hose I have except I have a sprayer I wanted to replace and it doesn’t want to come off 🙄
The hose I have is VERY long and is great all around the house- this year I’m gardening - sooo 🤔

Something you always have around to make the hose slide on easier and leave no residue. .. Use your finger to apply spit inside the hose. Works good on wood screws also.

How do you remove the spline in the hose (thing that prevents kinks)? You mentioned to remove about an inch but it's difficult to get in with a knife or scissors. I cut as much as i could and use a similar repair kit but was still getting leaks. This was on the female side.

Never seen this on hoses. We have those plastic quick release connectors, which can pressed in, and released by pulling the cilinder backwards

Interesting. I have some Metal fittings that I can add to the regular hose ends to do that but haven’t seen them built into the hoses. Appreciate the feedback.

@@HowToHomeDIY might be a Europe thing. I’m from Europe (Netherlands).
The only place I use threaded copper; is on copper water pipes in the house.
Also all garden accessories have the male end which fits on any hose I can buy, so basically hoses have the female quick release fittings (often one end with a disc in it to make the water flow stop if the accessory is pulled out), and the tap or accessories have male ends. To extend houses we use male to male fittings.

I forgot to mention that that clamp is tapered and is larger at one end than the other and should be placed on in a specific Direction

Buy a better hose with crush proof ends and avoid all this. They are expensive, but they pretty much last forever.
