I watched your video and wet to Lowes for the same part you have on yours! Yes it cost a little more than the old type, but I did it! I love it! Thank you so much! Also a lady at Lowes was going to buy a new hose! She didn’t know you could repair! She bought one of these too! Thank you for your help!
Around The Home my problem is that piece of the nozzle of sprinkler is stuck on my hose end and I can’t get it off…I will try and cut it off like you…then replace it with new one.
EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thank you so much for the reminder to pick up the better clamp. I ran out of them and just used the thin ring clamps I had lying around. I always cut myself, too, on those sharp ends that grow longer after they're screwed on. I once tried to snip one back and round it out -- even filed it -- but it's still in the way, so then I had to hassle around with thick outdoor tape to "pad" it. It looked ridiculous. I'm just going to mosey on over to Amazon (where else?) and buy the right one (or two). I'm a petite 68 year-old Yiayia (Greek Grandma) and still love to do all of these repairs and tinkering with gardening power equipment I built and maintain myself. I just rebuilt our old beloved 2002 John Deere LT150 lawn tractor after a head-on collision with a deck post last summer. As I always taught my now 4 grown sons, my philosophy is that, if you have the utter nerve, you can accomplish positively anything. I've always had that utter nerve (unmitigated gall?), and so I learned. Hubby just smiles and shakes his head. He's jealous... LOL!

Thank you for this. I accidentally cut the last 15 feet of my 100 foot heavy duty garden hose with the lawn tractor today (high grass) . This saves me $ compared to replacing the entire hose. Excellent instruction here!
I didn't understand exactly where to clamp it, went too far down and it was leaking everywhere. Glad I found this, was able to finally fix it today...took about 90 seconds
Excellent. Thank you. Went online to purchase through Amazon but it would have been 2 weeks+ delivery. Went to ACE bought the same exact product, followed your lead and Voila! Thank you, thank you.
Glad it helped! Also, thank you for letting me know about the shipping on the fittings. The links that I had were better then that, but something changed. I have new updated links in the video.
Thank you, sir. I had no idea these existed. I have like three hoses that have the same issue and I don’t wanna buy another one this will fix my problem. thumbs way up.
Pure genius! Thank you so much for the simple solution. I watched a few other methods and yours is definitely the best and fastest. You have done a tremendous service here sir!
Just watched this and it worked. Here is my experience to help others. I got a male end by mistake. I kept it for the other end. I went back and got the female end. It's metal with stainless steel screws and is brass and the clamp is like aluminum. I used a sharp utility knife and just eyed the cut. I hacked a couple of uneven parts. I do have a PVC cutter but didn't want to dig it out. The product I bought at Ace Hardware said it would fit both size hoses. I think it's 5/ and 3/4. I used the correct size screw driver, which seems important to do, and unscrewed the sleeve. Using a cordless drill is fine for taking the screws out and putting them back in but don't use the drill with a Phillips but to do the final tightening. Use that big fat screwdriver and do the final cranking by hand. You can easily slip the screwdriver when tightening and hurt yourself. You can also strup the screws if they are cheap. As I tightened it, I eyed the gap on both sides. Making sure to alternate a little turning of each screw back and forth. Always making sure the gap of the clamps stay parallel. This is what would cause a leak along with a really bad cutting of the hose and also not lining the sleeve up in the right spot. I personally left a little gap below the insert and the sleeve but wanted to mention this little detail. I believe that's correct but tell me if I'm wrong. The gap was about 1/8 inch. In the end, no leak. One more tip, I did put the whole setup against my deck rail as I tightened the final turns. This keeps you from putting the screw driver through your hand. Lol. As for tightening, I did as much as I could just barely before the point when the screws felt like they would slip or strip. Take your time and like I said, turn one screw a little and then the other and back and forth. I think it cost about 14 bucks for all metal, which is a little high but we get a discount at Ace. If you need to do both sides, in my case, it may be best to buy a new hose.. mine is pretty strong and lives with pressure a lot and never ruptured so I wanted to salvage it. Some may want to look at the chemicals in the metal if using for drinking water. If you've been vaxed, don't waist your time though. I really hope this helps someone!
Very cool, I have this old hose outside the previous owner had it rigged up for watering the lawn and the end is chopped off. Thought I would throw it away, figured I’d search this. Bingo, guess I’ll put a new end on it and keep it! In the old days, I’d have to ask around if this is even possible, these day just do a quick search on youtube and figure all this stuff out. Thanks man!
I had a hell of a time getting the brass piece down into the hose all the way. I ended up getting some coconut oil that I had in the house and coating the brass piece and then also put some down inside the hose as deep as I thought the brass piece was going to go and voila! The lubricant makes all the difference!
I can't get the brass piece down my hose all the way either. I was just going to try the same thing but I have to rest now. Wore me out. I'm encouraged to know that it worked for you.
Thank you for this great video. I have one of those stupid lightweight flat hoses that I do not care for that much cause they crimp too much and its annoying..... but it really is too new of a hose to replace and the metal end fell off. I cut the end as you instructed and the flat hose ending was still a little too small to fit over the brass clamp male end, so I nipped it a little on one side so I could shove the hose over it as far as I could. Then I used duct tape to secure the end of the hose around the male brass end and screwed the clamp on and voila, its not leaking and works great so far. I am using my sprinkler with it right now.

Thanks for this video, straight to the point and very informative ordered the part from the Amazon link thanks for that as well don't have time to be running to Lowe's and then I have the part.🤭
So, it must be the female end I need for my hose. Somehow a sprinkler attachment can't be loosened BY ME so I'm going to cut the thing plus with that section of hose and do the same thing you've done here! Really good video.
So the broken hose has caused drama lol . I’m so excited to do this now!! Thank you so much! I know it’s simple but I could still mess it up so lol I appreciate it 🙏🏾
Amazon has it for $8.80, local ACE Hardware has it for $6.49. My money stays local. Thanks for the helpful video. I second the joy of your video NOT having background music.
You are welcome. And while Amazon doesn't always have the best prices, using our links helps support a small business -ours. Appreciate your views and subscription.
Great video. However, the end of my hose still leaked a bit around the clamp. What we did was to add a few layers of duct tape around the hose underneath the clamp and that was enough for a good seal. Our hose is ten years old so it may have lost some of its integrity.
After you cut the end off, measure the inside diameter, or the ID. Glad to help. Thanks for watching and don't forget to stop by our website for many more helpful videos. www.greatwhiteninja.com
I actually don't think that you can use it on one of those hoses. I know a lot of people like those because they are light and easy to move around, but I don't think that they are repairable. I could be wrong, but I know that this repair kit is not for them.
@Daisy Ortiz sorry for the late reply. Most hoses are 5/8" and I am not sure I have seen any smaller. But there may be some "as seen on TV" type hoses that are. Commercial grade hoses are normally 3/4". These fitting work on both. I have links in the video description for them, but here is the male end like for you. www.amazon.com/Gilmour-Zinc-Male-Coupling-01MZ/dp/B0008JGSCM?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0008JGSCM&pd_rd_r=8603f14d-7e62-11e8-9d6e-6d9b471821ce&pd_rd_w=thQpV&pd_rd_wg=IEnYU&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=3914568618330124508&pf_rd_r=1PBFPXRRW5G3SC6X8Z2J&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&refRID=1PBFPXRRW5G3SC6X8Z2J&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=greatwhitenin-20&linkId=80c778d1f61370f8ff774218b9b23e1d&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl

I replaced one of these about a year ago and today it popped off. It took some effort to get the fitting back into the hose (thanks to the people who suggested hot water and petroleum jelly). Then my issue was that the clamp will not fit over the hose next to the female fitting. It's just not big enough. I ended up screwing it down on the hose below the fitting about 1 1/2-2". It's not leaking so I hope the fix lasts. I wonder why I had this issue and others don't comment on it.
Help. I bought this same product but it’s too big to get my garden hose around. How do I measure garden hose width? From outside to outside? Or, the width of the actual opening?
This should fit all standard garden hoses. You would measure the I.D. or inside diameter of the hose. The inexpensive hoses are hard to get on and it may help to put the last two inches of the hose in some hot water for a minute to soften it up and allow it to stretch a little.
Yes, it does work the same way if you are replacing the female end. The most common garden hose size is 5/8. It is possible to have a commercial hose with a 3/4 inch end. So these ends that I use should work for your hose assuming it's not one of those nylon fabric ultra lights. 👍 So glad to help! Thank you for watching. @Twister Sister, that you so much. I am trying to go full time with this channel and my cooking channel in the spring. So, right now I am trying to upgrade the way I do things and make it a better all around experience for my viewers.
This is just what I needed to fix my oops of attaching the hose reel without feeding the leader hose into the base first! Thank you!!!!! I love the interwebs!

Great to hear! 👍
Thank you for the 4 years later review! Very helpful!
My pleasure!
My end of hose is welded onto the sprayer with corrosion. I'm just going to cut the damn thing off and buy a new end. The sprayer is broken anyway so no big loss. Thanks for the video.
Replace rubber washer some time,,the tiny leaks for long time can weld shut the spray gun and the hose ends
Yep
same!! Haven't been able to use the hose for anything else and thought I had to get a new hose. So glad I don't have to.
WOW......had no idea you can do that. Off to Home Depot now. Thank You so much
Thanks, and I wouldn't go to Home Depot this time. Here, watch this. ruclips.net/video/tF2guBw10es/видео.html

So, it must be the female end I need for my hose. Somehow a sprinkler attachment can't be loosened BY ME so I'm going to cut the thing plus with that section of hose and do the same thing you've done here! Really good video.

Great video. However, the end of my hose still leaked a bit around the clamp. What we did was to add a few layers of duct tape around the hose underneath the clamp and that was enough for a good seal. Our hose is ten years old so it may have lost some of its integrity.
Great tip!
Boy, this video just hosed me! Thanks...great stuff!

Thanks for the video. How do you measure the hose to determine if it is a 5/8 or 3/4?

Great vedeo I have a question
I have the same problem how can I use on the flexible or expandable hose?
I actually don't think that you can use it on one of those hoses. I know a lot of people like those because they are light and easy to move around, but I don't think that they are repairable. I could be wrong, but I know that this repair kit is not for them.
Thank you!! Will do this tomorrow!
Also, my father will be getting this look 😑

I have the same hose, what size did you get for yours. And thank you for this, I will be replacing it myself 💗 my husband will be super proud.
@Daisy Ortiz sorry for the late reply. Most hoses are 5/8" and I am not sure I have seen any smaller. But there may be some "as seen on TV" type hoses that are. Commercial grade hoses are normally 3/4". These fitting work on both. I have links in the video description for them, but here is the male end like for you. www.amazon.com/Gilmour-Zinc-Male-Coupling-01MZ/dp/B0008JGSCM?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0008JGSCM&pd_rd_r=8603f14d-7e62-11e8-9d6e-6d9b471821ce&pd_rd_w=thQpV&pd_rd_wg=IEnYU&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=3914568618330124508&pf_rd_r=1PBFPXRRW5G3SC6X8Z2J&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&refRID=1PBFPXRRW5G3SC6X8Z2J&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=greatwhitenin-20&linkId=80c778d1f61370f8ff774218b9b23e1d&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl

So can I use the old metal part? Just cut it out and reuse it? Using a clamp of course.
You mean like if the hose got damaged at least a few inches away from the end and the end was still good, could you put a fitting like this on it? www.amazon.com/Rocky-Mountain-Goods-Metal-Mender/dp/B07Q58CRYJ?crid=5USM6XRGLQFI&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.4eL96rB-BH9vYisgqgZppIAuh3wJ4npI-XFDUVJnZuQ7Q97sYBoxs2X78q7F5vG6OrXmb9tQ66-REkBoxuYxP2_y_-x25uw-JrpLtLVM0gu50eE0alO-ATHAu0SFsPVMbicRyIBUXryJh-kWuUptuUEiPMnPT_OsnPYrdhLmZUwjFIi1hm3v99QAqkZ8G14PeZlcJYE_cXuXBetl95D6i3f_h7i7fN_hkLGPS5yFw1O0VaBz3x4Yg8TAVpor8d7iz4RCRRU3d5vYgHbh3XlDdIZNAPaGLciKGFbMWUA9ZBs.yY6qQc8Zfh_k41z5kWdtu1hH8yf6B5RO4u904z8qFVE&dib_tag=se&keywords=hose+coupler+repair&qid=1730113393&sprefix=hose+coupler+repair%2Caps%2C126&sr=8-8&linkCode=ll1&tag=greatwhitenin-20&linkId=021ff08716a38135d40a14d93ade73b8&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl

What do you do when the new end leaks? Just happened to me when I put the exact same end on it. Thanks !
What kind of hose?
@@AroundTheHome1 it is a black contractor grade garden hose from Home Depot.
Thanks for the video. Home Depot one is about half price. Even the same brand in ace hardware is much cheaper.
The one at Home Depot is not solid brass. Read the reviews on that one.
Thank you! I just bought a hose and my dog chewed up like 3 foot of it, so I had to find a cheaper option than buying another $50 hose!

Thanks I was going to try and heat it up with some flame. It’s a really good rubber hose that I don’t want to throw away!
Did it work?
Stupid question, works the same way to replace a worn-out female hose end? Also, what if I am not sure of the diameter of the hose? Thanks!
