This is a brilliant solution! I got an expensive 100 foot metal hose last fall and it already has a leak. I had no idea how to fix it until I found your excellent video. Thank you for such clear information and directions. You are a wonderful teacher! I'm a subscriber now. 👏
A solid gold video with clear, step by step instructions and links for supplies. As a person who has to make my own repairs, videos like these are invaluable. Thank you so much for making it. Now I don’t have to toss my steel hose.
This is awesome!! My neighbors put a brand new stainless steel hose on the curb after it started leaking and they didn't want to deal with fixing it. I picked it up and will try this seemingly easy, cheap fix. Thank you so much for posting!
I bought a 100" Bionic Steel hose for around $60 with a 5-year warranty. After one winter or about 7 months of use, it started leaking. I called the Customer Assistance number provided on the Amazon website, showed them screenshots of the purchase and pictures of the leak, and they sent a new hose. You're welcome to the hose with the leak if you like.
Dude thank you so much for this video, you just saved our dog rescue some funds in trying to replace a recently popped hose and an old one that was put out of order a few months back!! Many thanks!⭐
I cannot thank you enough! This worked great on fixing my hose! Your directions were perfect. Thank you for the links to the products too!!! You saved my hose!! Thank you tons! 5stars ⭐️
What about putting new ends on? I have the same situation - cut my hose in half with the mower. But I'd like to turn it into two 50' hoses. How would you do that?
Heat the hose up when u insert the barb fitting next time and it will slide right on and as it cools it will shrink back on and seal tight.thats what I do wit my pool hoses to connect to fittings
Thanks for the question. Everything is still doing well. As long as you clean the area very well to create a good bonding surface, it should last you a very long time. If I experience any issues with it, I will provide everyone with an update.
The only thing I can think of right now is to use an air pump on one end and have the other side blocked. Then have someone listen for a hissing sound and that will probably give you a general area. The other possible way is with a thermal camera. I personally do not have one and i have never tried doing it. A thermal camera can probably show you where the water is leaking through by looking at the temperature change when you block one end and you let water in. Thermal cameras are very expensive, but you might be able to find one in a library. I borrowed one once from a local library. If i think of anything else, i will send you a message.
I am going to try to create another video with another coupling method. There are better ways to prevent it from leaks, but the problem is that when we start spending above a certain amount, it makes more sense to just buy a new hose.
I have not worked on the end yet, but it looks like it has a compressed fitting on it. If it came off your hose, you can probably use a hose clamp to tighten the hose to the coupler.
You can also use a hair dryer, burner from stove, lighter, etc. Anything heat source. Just be careful that you don't burn the material and keep a water source near for safety . With any flames you will need to keep a distance and take your time.
IMHO, I don’t believe that this is a quality repair.. that shrink tubing looks like the non glue type from harbor freight. And even if it has glue. It will not be strong enough glue for most municipal water supply pressures. I’d like to see the results in a follow up test video of a repair that actually works under pressure, not just theory. I’m interested because I am repairing my metal hose 🎉Thanks

Love it. Thank you. A delivery truck ran over my 100 foot hose. Now I can fixit it. THANK YOU

Warrantee does not cover damage done to the hose by a vehicle or other equipment.

This was very helpful. My bionic steel hose started leaking at the collar only after a year of use. Will try this. TY.
I sprayed wd40 on the barb to slide it easier . Great content. Good job.
I cannot thank you enough!

Thank you tons!

Show to us how to fix the nozzle of metal waterhose.ty
Well done clear, concise and super useful method 👍🏼 Thank You
Wow ! Great job man. And a great video showing us how to do the same. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your solution.
That’s a good hose, my dogs biting days were over after I got this.
Nice repair. Going to try it.
you left out the most critical segment of this video. the full water pressure test to prove no leaks??
Well played, sir.
The bionic line is good, what I learned DO NOT pull it if it's hung up on anything. You can unravel it's outer stainless casing.
What about putting new ends on? I have the same situation - cut my hose in half with the mower. But I'd like to turn it into two 50' hoses. How would you do that?
@@RACHELMCCARTY-eu1uz I will be getting rid of about 15 ft of hose, but I guess it would be interesting to try that.
Thanks for the help

Good idea. Thanks for the tip.
Where did you buy the shrink pieces and what are they called?
Mine started to leak. Can you tell me how to unravel the steel link?
What size splicer did you use? My hose busted too
Besides running over with mower how else did hise hold up?
Thanks for the question.

Was that adhesive version of heatshrink or plain heatshrink? Very nice discussion and Thanks for showing what is inside the metal jacket. Bravo!
Thank you for your comment. It is a marine graded heat shrink with adhesive lined to seal the connection from the elements
Excellent! Thank you!!!
How do you determine where the leak is?

the pressure from the water will stick cause it to leak at the site where it was cut

Well, we didn’t see if your fix fixed it. No water test. That was necessary but?
Great help. Thank you.
No problem. Make sure to clean all the surfaces very well before starting everything . It helps make a good connection.
What if I don't have a heat gun what else can I use
You can also use a hair dryer, burner from stove, lighter, etc. Anything heat source. Just be careful that you don't burn the material and keep a water source near for safety . With any flames you will need to keep a distance and take your time.
Also, clean the surfaces very well and make sure that they are dry before connecting everything so that it creates a good bond.
Great job!
Thanks, it's still running strong
actually i started doing that almost 2 years ago and posted it on youtube
I'm not too sure if is worth fixing it. It might be cheaper to buy a new one.
