      Do they hire new drivers out of school? Trying to see what company’s I can drive for.. I’m about a two months away from getting my CDL. Starting class in the 21st of this month. Hopefully looking to be hired before the end of October, when classes are scheduled to end. Fortunately I’m a good student and should be able to get through pre-trip and theory fast because I’ve done a lot of this in my own before starting class. So, I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get enough drives in, hopefully earlier than they typically schedule them, in order to finish more quickly. Fortunately there are multiple instructors and only 10 students max per class!

    Every job has it's ups and downs. Ups in trucking? You're alone. Downs? Stress/frustration due to traffic/construction/detours/weird small docks but mostly it's other drivers out there living their best life like nobody else exists. Cut you off, jump in front and slow down, refuse to let you merge or catch an exit, cross 3 lanes of traffic in front of you and run over the median to catch their own exit, run down the shoulder popping up next to you, you're trying to change lanes and nobody will let you go now the guys behind pop out and drive up next to you in the lane you're trying to switch to, its just great.

    • @linamarie84
      @linamarie84 22 дня назад

      People decide to go into the position they do. You use your brain power and free will to research, apply and take steps necessary.

Maybe your other job options don’t pay well enough to support you or your family the way you need to, put your kids through school, pay medical bills, buy a house, save for retirement or investing etc. Maybe you’re doing the job to save up enough to pay for schooling so you can do the job you actually want to do.
      If you don’t have a better alternative or enough money to do what you want to do, you essentially *_are_* being forced to do something, you do what you can until you can do better. Absolutely true, and you didn't even hit all the OTHER "high points" required to be a driver...
    Got 30 yrs OTR, the last 20 in one stretch, following a divorce I filed, and won, in 1994. Now happily retired. Bro, you and all the other "Hands" out there, EARN your way !!!
    ... Be safe, enjoy as much as you can, and "Don't let the "turkeys" get you down...".

    As a trucker he's right, it takes a certain mentality to do this job. But at the same time it's freeing.
