Hey everyone! As some of you may know, Rob and I stayed up until 5 am to film this video due to schedules and technical issues! So thank you for bearing with us! A few additional comments:
1) Some viewers misunderstood this part. Our opinion of Ben Rottenborn’s closing is in no way a reflection of who’s side we are on or what we think of him overall. Again, we’re commenting on the techniques and behaviors. One of the first things we learn in interrogation training is that if you let your biases about someone affect your analysis, your analysis is worthless. Absolutes and emotional convictions are useless when it comes to analysis. If you can’t look at each part separately without getting emotionally triggered, you cannot be objective. His techniques were well thought out despite what any of us personally think of him.
2) Concerning Amber not writing anything down. Yes, we’ve seen the video of her not writing anything down at a specific moment. But it is beyond silly to assume that just because she sometimes doesn’t write anything that means she never wrote anything down ever. So to those commenting that she wasn’t writing anything down on the post its; that’s not a reasonable assumption, Elaine didn’t look confused as one would if they were handed a blank note, she seemed unimpressed, I believe there was something on that note that she didn’t find too important. It’s one thing to try to appear busy, it’s another to pass around blank pages to your lawyers. Let’s be reasonable
3) I can’t speak for Rob but I myself do not believe that Amber has provided sufficient evidence to back up what she’s saying, furthermore she has had way too many inconsistencies in her story. As far as I’m concerned, Ben Rottenborn is fighting an uphill battle, no matter how good his closing was, the evidence speaks louder. I do not know, nor have I ever claimed to know, what the jury is going to decide but I personally feel the evidence is lacking.

Thank you for your channel. I'm only about 5 minutes into this video, but I have a question. Jurors take notes, are the notepads their's to take home or do they save them and keep them with court record?
There's a video posted today on RUclips saying one of the jurors homes was broken into. This was a concern of mine once "law tube" started sitting in on court hearings and charting speculations on juror reactions and how that translated to possible leanings to AH or JD. Not a great idea stating their seating and nationality either. For lawyers? This should have been an easy thing to see coming. Good luck.
Also I wanna say that Rottenborn's closing argument felt like I was being guilt tripped and manipulated, where Camille's felt like she was simply telling me what she knew and letting me decide what I believed. Amber's team has done nothing but alienate me this entire trial and his closing argument absolutely did not help that lol

This. He was VERY manipulative. He literally described Heard and said that was Depp. He was lying the whole time, just hoping to confuse the jury. It was gross.
I agree as well. If anything Rottenborn's closing was the only good thing I saw from Amber's side. But regardless I still believe evidence talk louder than words. And there for me Johnny depp is the victim and amber is the liar and a gold digger and evil!
Rottenborns angered me especially around if JD wins it sends the message that true survivors wont be believed. Guilt tripping all right
i recall the closing statement with "and if you are for the 1st Amendment, then you need to pick my client" (paraphrasing) ... im thinking 'lol trying to guilt ppl with the 1st amendment now eh? whelp theyre trying to use anything they can cuz they dont have much'
Absolutely nothing moved me more than Ben Chew's voice breaking towards the end of his closing statement. I actually teared up. I felt his emotion, I felt Camille's emotion too. They *know* that Johnny has been wronged. That, to me, is 100% more powerful than Rottenborn's guiltripping performance.

I disagree, Rottenborn was far more personable and engaging, it made him easier to listen to and follow. Ben Chew’s done next to nothing in this trial and Camille just barks statements in a dictatorial way. Not liking Depp’s council has nothing to do with not liking Depp and this is just my opinion, so Depp fans don’t come for me!
It says a lot that Camille's argument focused on the evidence of this case, but Rottenborn's argument was about believing women in general, about abuse survivors in general. Amber's only hope is relying on the credibility of other abuse survivors, because she herself doesn't have a case.
Good observation
Him opening the way he did with saying it sends a message to all abuse survivors put me off immediately. He just disgusted me more and more as the trial went on. It just doubled down on what Amber mocked Johnny with, the idea that he couldn't be a victim because he's a man. It was made VERY clear that she at least also participated in everything and also was abusive to him, audio very clearly proved that. His case he had to argue was if Johnny had ever hit her too. But he tried to say the verdict of Amber will say nothing will ever be enough, while disparaging a proven victim. There were so many other ways he could have taken things. When he finished I felt almost physically sick and so extremely angry on behalf of the actual survivors watching. Saying that if they don't side with Amber no one's story means anything. Those are not his stories to tell, Just like Amber stealing her assistants SA story, and I'm afraid there's going to be victims that will believe him, and that because she's a liar no one will believe them. Especially male victims, and victims of female abusers. The sheer amount of harm he may have caused by the way he did this. Yeah it's his job, but there are some ethical lines you just shouldn't cross.
And I'm not some big Johnny Depp fan or anything, I didn't have any kind of bias to him going into the trial other than I like some of his movies, that's not where any of these feelings come from.

Amber's team quite literally at the end pretty much said "if you don't vote for heard you are dismissing every woman who has suffered from domestic abuse." That is a disgusting way to try and win.
Camille's closing arguments were powerful, gripping, and incredibly moving. It was better than anything Hollywood could've ever written. Her passion and unshakable belief in her client was inspiring. I truly believe she has secured a win for Johnny.

No, she went off on a tangent trying to diminish how badly she beat him. If he had ever punched her, would she really NOT MENTION that when he said something like that?

Nah, Camille owned that closing argument. Rottenborn may have had that "Pirate" line, but Camille said what every survivor of abuse thought: Amber took _our_ stories, but it wasn't _her_ story. That is a much more impactful statement because it really shows the scope of Heard's accusations. If this can happen to someone of Johnny's reputation, then there is no hope for others in less fortunate situations.

In an ironic twist, she will likely go down in history as the woman who derailed the # believeher, and # metoo movements. I don't mean she will make it harder for legitimate abuse claims to be prosecuted, but that fewer people will blindly believe an otherwise unbelievable story without vetting it for accuracy prior to ruining someone's livelihood and reputation for the accuser's personal vendetta. This may herald the return of critical thinking.
@@randiskye4444 I think if you're going to accuse someone of something horrendous, come with the evidence. Thts why my ex husband has 8 years left on a 10 year restraining order. When the judge saw what he did to me, and he didnt show up to defend himself (as he boasted he would) I was granted a 10 year order against him. I am elated to this day that I ont have to return over and over again, as he vowed to murder me straight.
Amber is a fool. I really dont have much to say about her as I am a lifetime Survivor of this foolishness.

I saw Johnny's body language like this: He told the world the truth. His work was done. He sat back and had to listen to Team Heard for the last time. I remember that Johnny said that the outcome of this trial doesn't matter to him. He just wanted to tell the truth. And that's what he did.
It was also the birthday of his daughter, Lily Rose. Almost time to go home, leave the shit behind and celebrate.
It could also mean that he distanced himself from what Team Heard said.
and I'm sure it was soooooo uncomfortable listening to the pure HELL he went through being laid out. it probably took him back to that place. I honestly couldn't imagine how he must have felt in that moment. in ALL the moments of this trial actually.
@@brettneygibbs9047 Yes.. It must have been really triggering for him. I've had a lawsuit against my abuser. It lasted four hours. I was exhausted and couldn't sleep that night because of the reliving of the trauma. I can't imagine being in court for six weeks..

I agree. I don't think winning the lawsuit is important to him. He had an opportunity to share the truth and what occurred during their relationship. This made Amber's claim in the op-ed non-effective

Johnny's drinking coffee or sitting back is not something he should be judged for. It's so silly. Amber was sitting there literally death staring or smirking during his testimony. He can't even drink some coffee? After laying his soul bare, he is relying on his lawyers to deliver the closing. He is exhausted, as an ACTUAL abuse survivor would be.
For real. Then you have Ben Rottenborn lying, as if we, nor the jury witnessed the amounts of lies his client, his experts, his witnesses didn't get caught lying for the defense. I'm happy Camille called that out. She referenced a few lies he told, while Ben Chew was forced to call Elaine out immediately.
I have to agree with you on this. That’s exactly how I felt as if it was finally over and he could sit back and let his lawyer Finish Because he trusts them
It's not so much that it should be judged in and of itself, but if theres a juror that believes Amber, then they are creating the context in which leaning back and being casual is a bad thing. If theyve created an avatar of Johnny to hate, then its not a far leap to say "wow look at him, he doesnt even care." Theyre wrong, but its best to not give them any fodder.

My thoughts on Johnny’s texts and their violent vulgarity… they scream “helpless rage”. As well as the smashing of the cupboards. Helpless rage. “I can’t do these things to you but I can fantasize about them. I can’t smash you, but I can smash these cabinets”. If he were actively venting his anger on AH like she claims, I doubt he’d have felt the need to fantasize to Paul Bettany or smash the cabinets.
Exactly! I was on zoom with my therapist and once my mother, who is the abuser, was lurking out the door and heard and had a huge raging fit

Here’s the thing. For me as a woman and someone that deplores physical violence especially domestic violence I want to believe every person who claims they have been abused. Normally it takes A LOT of courage to come forward and face your abuser. I had no I’ll will towards Amber. I liked Johnny Depp but knew he had an affinity for drugs and hard living from reading and listening to interviews. Especially when he was almost being like an understudy of Hunter S. Thompson who was Uber eccentric and major dark individual. So before knowing anything I wouldn’t say I’d think it impossible for JD to have done the things he was accused of. After she testified I honestly in my heart felt I knew beyond a reasonable doubt, that she was lying and not just about little things but big things. So over the top. One minute like a crying victim but with not one tear. NOT ONE! How quickly she would go from her acted crying to then complete opposite. Finally the evidence just wasn’t there. When I heard the diabolical laughing and bating she did to Johnny whom she was supposedly terrified of?? Oh and then gets a restraining order, but the minute he gets back in town, begs him to go to her hotel and meet with her by HERSELF! That says volumes to me personally. True victims don’t want to be around their abusers. They don’t taunt their abusers and they certainly don’t throw cans at their head, and punch them thru the door and she would not allow herself to admit to any wrong doing. That made her less believable whereas Johnny showed the good the bad and the ugly and admitted to it. So if I were a juror my vote 🗳 for win would be to Johnny to prevail.
Please do not believe every person. Listen to every person and take in what they are saying and the evidence and listen to the other side as well. My mom is a liar and abusive. She has NPD and BPD and has spun so many lies.She acts as if I am abusing her and all of her friends believe it. So now in order not to be accused I just stay in my room and eat my meals here and try never to be with her. I’m disabled (and can’t move out right now in case someone says, well why are you there still)
Johnny Depp lived with Hunters basement for months before Fear and Loathing. That’s when the two started being extremely close friends. Johnny made sure Hunters wishes for his funeral be carried out...no easy feat. Also if you know anything about Hunter S. Thompson..beyond what you would typically read...you’d know that he would never put his hands on a woman. He took a brutal beating by several Hell’s Angel’s bc he dared to stop a member that was beating up his wife and dog. Hunter was wild and could get verbally nasty. I don’t believe Johnny Depp is different. He’s not hiding the fact he’s been a drug and alcohol abuser. He’s not hiding anything. He’s humiliated himself for the world to know the truth. This man deserves vindication

There is a natural spunk in Amber Heard and the fact she walks through crowds at the courthouse booing her and the terrible threats and demeaning comments she received will certainly provoke a stance that she will not give pleasure to the public or the her abuser as determined in the London Courts that Johnny Depp abused her. I am sorry for the pain you personally experienced, and I hope someday you will be at place in knowing your value that if your abuser ever dragged you into court that you could fearlessly look at the person and proclaim to leave you alone and to allow both of you to get on your lives. Special blessings to you, and you may want to really think, more for your own growth, if a person who willingly admits and even shows pride in alcohol and illegal substance use, writes texts to friends about torture and death of his abused wife (as determined by the English Courts), destroys homes he stays in, writes texts to the victim pleading forgiveness for harms from his drug and alcohol induced "monster" , photographic and witness testimony of head butt injuries, cuts, arm, face, and head bruising, hair pulled from scalp, etc., and video, photographic, text, and witness testimony of destruction including what I find scary writings in blood and paint, on walls, mirrors, artwork, etc in a renta house l with damages of $150k on and on. But for a special affection of perfected love for Johnny Depp. You can love him, even if the jury finds Amber Heard did not defame him, but he defamed Amber Heard. You still have belief in him even though the English court ruled there is substantial evidence that Johnny Depp abused Amber Heard and found Johnny Depp was not defamed by a newspaper calling him a wife beater because the evidence showed this statement was substantially true.
Im surprised you guys didn’t mentioned Camille asking “would you trust her?” Referring to Amber’s heard words and then left a big pause so it left the jury thinking, i thought that was so powerful

They barely focused on what Camille actually said and I know this channel is about behavior and not so much the words. But then why did they focus so much on (and praise) what Rottenborn said? They obviously take his statements more seriously than hers. I don't want to point fingers but they missed such key phrases from her closing arguments but focused on her using her Latina tongue to read "Hasta la Muerte" and her emotional tone? When his overall argument was mostly focused on general abuse and guilt tripping versus her statements actually holding powerful evidence from this specific abuse case? But what they highlight most is his closing arguments instead... You tell me if they're biased or not... Maybe not biased about Johnny vs Amber but at least about the weight of words coming from the female lawyer vs male...
After the photos and audio, who would feel comfortable being alone in a room with a volatile ah ?
I admittedly only watched a bit of Rottenborne's closing argument but I hated it and felt gaslit when he basically said "you only have to find one incident of abuse and Johnny loses". It's like no, sorry your client went on the stand and recounted stories of horrific rape with a bottle, being controlled, beat up to the point of a broken nose and etc. The fact you have the audacity to basically insinuate "Yeah my client may have lied about the rape but slamming some cabinets and mean texts are a form of abuse so Johnny is guilty and Amber can parade herself as a representative of DV". She also admitted to writing the op-ed 3 times and the last time, basically explained how this trial and the people who came out to support a powerful man like Depp is the example her op-ed talked about. Amber's whole case is an attack on logic, critical thinking and a spit in the face of real DV survivors.

Not exactly. If you can find even one example of abuse from JD, then yes he is guilty, but so is AH, because she also committed abuse. They both did. They should both be showed as victims of DV. It’s like in school when there’s a bully, if you tell on them well generally you both get in trouble. But that’s the sacrifice the victims have to take even if both are partially wrong
Yes! She literally said people supporting him is why she wrote the piece! I do think the beginning of Rottenborn's closing was strong, but then he lost me with the absolutes.
I’m surprised Johnny’s team haven’t picked up on that “monster” depiction. It’s well known in rehab scenes that most, if not, all recovering addicts refer to their “monster” inside. Certainly doesn’t mean the monster hurts others. The monster usually hurts the addict themselves.

@Deary Me I have. Lots of people, either that term or similar analogies and it's apt.
It’s called, “Dr. Jekyll/My Hyde” Mr. Hyde being the “monster”. And I actually did deal with emotional/mental/ physical abuse/sexual coercion at the hands of a man just like Johnny Depp who appeared so charming who had both aspects to his personality. That is WHY I can see the possibility where others can’t see it.
um, he isn't a recovering addict, though. he was very clear on the stand he has no intention of stopping use of alcohol & drugs... he kicked the roxy, but that's all he thinks he had a problem with.
@@sabrinagoding7254 I can easily argue on the other side - I've been submitted to abuse and histrionics by women just like Amber Heard. That's why some don't see what I can plainly see. Fortunately most can though. It's bloody obvious.
When I first listened to Rottenborns closing I felt as though amber was going to win the trial, and I just read a comment that made me understand why. His closing sounds like a guilt trip, and I believe that I was falling for it because I’m an empath. Thankfully the jurors were able to deliberate and look at the evidence to discount a simple guilt trip.
I'm naturally empathic as well, but my parents raised me to be very careful about assessing facts and using logic as well as my "gut" feeling, so that I could be balanced in my outlook (I mention my parents' influence because I'm not at all confident I would have this perspective without their intervention). It's had the impact of making it easier to recognize when someone is trying to manipulate me, and I react VERY poorly to that. It makes me angry when someone tries to use our human emotions to make us believe in falsehoods.
So I think that's another line attorneys have to tread carefully: activate the jury's emotions, but don't pound at them. Build your case in such a way that the jury feels empathetic *without* being told how to feel.
I respond to guilt trips with aggressive thoughts. It's a response I adapted because of my father's treatment of me. If you put blame on me, I immediately distrust you, and you have to work to regain my trust, unless I realize I deserve the guilt. Usually, I feel I do in some way if it's my nuclear family or close friends. But in situations that are more distant, it just garners distrust and aggression.
I thought Rottenborn’s closing was repugnant. It felt so manipulative and skeezy. If I don’t believe AH’s ever-expanding tales then I don’t believe any abuse victims? Boy, bye.

In a shorter trial and with a less competent team of lawyers AND FACTS opposing them it could be possible ... but here? I HOPE IT IS NOT!
Not just that, he also accused the jury of not upholding the first amendment if they side with Johnny.
The part where he compared and minimised the cruel childhood nickname that Johnny's mother called him was sickening. As a victim of child abuse, it left me shaking from frustration that he could be so dismissive.
The fact that Amber keeps saying she's a victim and even gets large publications to publish articles like "believe in women-believe in amber heard" and yet so many abuse victims identify with Johnny is so fascinating. They looked at her "evidences", saw her reactions, listened to her on tapes, and were witnesses to her expressive testimonies. Still, what she reminded them of were the toxic people who messed up a part of their life. They did not see their fight for independence, safety, and understanding in her, they saw it in Johnny.
Exactly! I suffered from child abuse and domestic violence by my ex husband and I do not believe her, I see her as a narcissist like my ex and my step father who abused me growing up. Johnny looks like the victim. He will not look at her! She says "because he can't" NO!! he doesn't want to, he is disgusted by her, hurt by her and doesn't want to see that face ever again, it's too painful.
YES. It was so unbelievably disappointing to see all those articles praising her as a survivor, while so many of us who were victims of abuse find her behavior triggering. Maybe they’re highly narcissistic writers, or Johnny depp reminds them of someone they hate, I don’t know.

Oh absolutely. I believed Amber begrudgingly until she got in the stand. Then all of her credibility disappeared. She's awful and clearly the abuser to those who have been abused.

Even if he loses because of the nature of the case, he still wins not just in the court of public opinion, but because his story is acknowledged to be true and he has been heard, which is what so many of us victims have always wanted.
And the way Amber looks at him… as a DV victim myself, she looks like when they are trying to re-instill fear and get you to do what they want without words, a reminder that they intend to make you pay for it later if they get the chance. My dad did this when he didn’t want me to tell the judge/police/doctors the truth about how he treated us.
And because of that, I rarely looked him in the eye…

I remember reading and hearing all the reports years ago, and being in a state of disbelief. I grew up watching Johnny Depp’s movies, and it was hard for me to imagine him being this abusive monster even when I didn’t really know anything about him. But I’ve never been one to immediately believe what I’ve been told if there’s no evidence, unless I’ve been given no cause to doubt someone’s credibility. Not only did Amber Heard’s so called evidence look fake as hell, not one person was able to support her claims. And all of her lies was slowly unraveling with each leaked video, phone call, and audio recording that showed her true colors. It was at that point that I truly knew that my gut instinct was right and that was before the trial even began. I’m just sad that he didn’t see that in time so that he could have avoided being put through that hell, and that he would be free from trauma. I grew more and more disgusted by Amber Heard and her team of lawyers with each passing day as I watched the trial. Nothing about that abusive narcissist witch or her team was genuine, and I cheered when I saw the final verdict read out in court. Justice was truly served.
It was disgusting for me when I heard Rottenborne said if there's one single time JD abused AH, AH wins. And he pointed out that smashing cabinets, using bad language in text messages were are examples of abuse. I mean seriously, if those actions of conveying our anger are considered abuse, then everyone of us can be considered as an abuser or a victim in our life. He was just trying to sell from a weak angle and distract us from the serious fact the AH lied about her stories or not having any evidences. I would say, yes he used great techniques in his closing argument, however, the content of his argument is total BS.

I agree. That came across as grasping at straws, as if they already knew they needed to bring in kicking a cabinet and sending foul language text messages as being abusive. Like, see they’re both abusive so we just need to forget this whole thing, shake hands, and everybody go home - no real harm here, no foul. It came across as weak to me.
I think he could’ve paired it down a little, but I also don’t know what their strategy was.... they certainly didn’t have a good one with letting Elaine ramble and ramble.
They each seem to be held professionally in high esteem and have very successful careers, but I just thought there were so many things that just for my presentation point of view could’ve been done better. And if I were them knowing this was going be so high profile and televised, I would’ve brought in top-notch coach. They are obviously experts at the law, but I think they both needed a coach for presentation. My more than 2 cents.
Yeah... in my mind during his closing was... "so... It's wrong to be human?" and zoned out when he started explaining and telling things that were already discussed during the whole trial. Not even a sweet concise summary, Hence them ending up with 6 minutes.

I felt mentally raped, drained, stripped open by Amber's lawyers I could not keep watching the trial live and gave up. Amber's lawyers closing arguments made me feel like they were turning into Amber themselves!Manipulating and low key attacking/gaslighting anyone that did not take her version of events as the absolute truth. This was only a few days trial. Imagine the hell Johnny must have gone through to love and live with her. He is a saint! You can hear him stretching so thin and breaking in the audios. May this man have some peace and the justice he deserves!

I had to take several breaks myself. I wanted to watch both sides, because while I side with JD I try to be impartial and hear out both sides. Rottenborn was really manipulative and misrepresented a fair amount of evidence, which I found really infuriating. Had to just pause the live feed, walk away for awhile and resume later. Then there was Elaine who was... intelligible. I felt so bad for Judy for having to transcribe that word salad.
It’s nice to see so many people realizing that not all women should be believed. I have much compassion for Johnny and what him and his family have been put through by what I believe is a demon possessed woman. Johnny by no means is a saint. They both need the love and forgiveness of Jesus. Hopefully, Johnny can find that love in Jesus, so he won’t need to fill that God size hole in his heart with drugs, drinking or another person.

Also I have to say, that if anyone, like myself, watched the trial and made their own conclusions on Amber, her career is doomed. To me, her testimony act, or the way she presented herself up there, made a mockery of abused women and men. She signed her own fate, not by law but by the publics understanding of her as a human. This whole case has my nerves shot for Johnny. I was in an extremely abusive relationship for 5 years. Watching Amber Heard get on that stand and hearing those recording made my stomach turn. No one who has been through what she claims would have been taunting him the way she did. I used to get beat for cooking the wrong thing for dinner or bc some guy at the drive thru was too friendly. A man who abuses you isolates you from anyone who could be on your side. He doesn't let you move your entire support system in the same building. This trial has become not only Justice for Johnny. It's become justice for all of us whose story she is stealing. The pain and the memories it has brought up make everything feel fresh again and make me feel fiercely protective of Johnny. You can look at them if you have been through abuse and feel which one of them is lying. And when I see johnny drawing pictures or having his head down I immediately go to when that was me, and I would do anything to disassociate when people would want to talk about what I went through. I pray to God Johnny gets the justice he is seeking so he can finally get the peace he deserves and start to heal.

I was a juror twice. Once in Fl, and the other in NYC where i was on a grand jury. One thing I’ve learned, and myself have felt is absolute annoyance and disgust when a witness continually stares at the jury at me. Its emotive of a person forcing their perspective on you in a very controlling and manipulative way. And all of Amber’s witnesses, and herself did with the jury. At least in the ones that i was in, when this happened it annoyed us very much and told us that this side is trying too hard, meaning theirs guilt there. Where the witnesses were calm and collected and spoke to the questioning attorneys and occasionally looked over at us in a gesture to let us know they are aware of us felt more genuine, they were comfortable in their testimony, they felt no need to stare us down in what seemed like a desperate effort to control our perspective. Even a layman can understand these emotive cues. Amber will lose this case, and her counter suit.

Same here. I've been on a jury twice and I wouldn't have liked it if the attorneys and witnesses had looked at us. No one is supposed to try to communicate with the jury in any way, even during the trial. Trying to communicate with the jury is unethical.
When I watched the closing arguments I did notice Johnny’s laid back demeanor, it did seem odd. The more I thought about it and watched it made sense to me if they are telling the truth. He is done, this is over, not matter what happens he showed up and told the truth, his side of the story. If I was a juror that would make the most sense in my mind. Comparing this to how he was during the trial. Amber has not really changed in how she acts, no real emotional change except where at time you think you would want people to see you change, than snap back.
What’s crazy is I am a looking back at this-and he was a nervous wreck during most of the closing argument as well as the testimony-just like a real victim of violence….hes a wreck. He’s not laid back, smirking, or passing notes like Amber was. If anything, Mr Depp seemed more the victim and Amber the abuser. No victim would keep staring down Mr Depp’s attorneys and Mr Depp like she did. Just as Camille said “there’s an abuser in this courtroom, but it’s not Ms. Heard” Mr Depp didn’t dare look at Ms. Heard ever during the trial.
Coming from an emotionally abusive home, I was NOT impressed wit RB’s closing. He triggered me. I felt like he was attacking me, personally, and I felt like he was invalidating my experience and then gaslighting me by trying to make me feel guilty for being abused. It wasn’t well done, if you are a victim of abuse.

I have a kid with an abuser sadly and its really hard because as much as i try to distance myself she always has this grip over me since i never ever would give up my half with my son. I love my boy to death and it breaks my heart that his mother is abusive and treats me like an interchangeable object. We aren’t together but every sentence and action is malice, snarky, and attempt to be manipulative, and if that doesnt work then she guilt trips me or uses my son as a shield (as if im affecting him ,not her , by not letting her abuse me)

One thing that instantly took me out is the implication that using bad words privately largely out of context makes you a bad person. This is just extension of bullshit we see every day in media. I feel inclined to automatically give person attacked like that full benefit of the doubt

Personally, I would bare in mind that Johnny Depp has ADHD and as someone who knows this life experience, keeping still is a nightmare, focusing is even more so. However, if the hands are busy, it's much easier to actually listen and focus on other people talking, especially if it's possibly something that's been heard before and/or that's uncomfortable to hear. So, honestly, I'm personally not going to judge him for how he is considering he actually did sit and listen without keeping his hands busy to help him concentrate for quite a time before essentially not being able to keep still much longer. It's physically painful sometimes to sit still and keep quiet for extended periods of time for people with ADHD. Maybe I'm reading personal experience into it, but I found it understandable, and it's not as if he was being disrespectful; he's clearly anxious from start to finish as seen with breathing and expressions, too, and it's not easy to have to hear awful things people have stated. If the hands are moving, it probably means he can focus on what's being said much better than putting all of his focus onto trying to keep still.
Considering that AH spends the whole time angrily writing without touching pen to paper and passing notes, on top of that smirking and sneering, then drinking coffee on Johnny's part is nothing to be judged for at all.
But ultimately as a survivor, I do not like that Rottenborn lumped all of us in with AH, like she represents us all, because she does not represent me. She is a blatant liar, she is an offence to all true victims of abuse everywhere, and the lack of evidence to coincide with her lies and the fact she's been allowed to take it this far on nothing is disgusting. Rottenborn is a horrible human being for stating that as fact when he knows nothing of it, and he uses dirty tactics and mind-games like his client. It says a lot that Johnny's team is as they are, reflecting him, and AH's team is dirty reflecting her. Instead of presenting and fighting their case, they attacked his side, and that tells me a whole lot - there is nothing of their case to fight for, so let's discredit the truth with as dirty a tactic as possible. Pathological liars and master manipulators is what I grew up around and are what I despise in humanity.

I've also been diagnosed with ADHD, predominantly innattentive, and have _always_ needed to do something with my hands/ shift around in the chair in order to be able to focus and sit down for long periods of time (=anything above 20-30 mins :)). It can send the wrong message to the others though, as if I'm not interested in what is being said... Sadly :/

Being a juror two times, I did not think AH attorney moving back and forth would not move me to think he was engaging me as a juror over Camille standing still. During both trials that I was a juror on, I have seen both styles in closing and neither style made a difference in the outcome of my vote in deliberation. None of us focused on how the style of the attorneys closing determined our decision. We based our decision of guilt or innocent only on the facts, not the style of how the attorney presented his/her closing, or whether one engaged us over the other. It’s the facts presented in the case that in both trials we based our decision on, not the closing.
You sound like a reasonable and intelligent person. But the fear is that not everyone in the jury will be equally as smart. Tactics like this are exaggerated when they have no other logical arguments, and they hope to prey on the impressionable people.

Well, while Camille has a 'mountain' of facts on her side he is depending on the convincing effect of his presentation. So she can concentrate on *what* she has to offer, whereas he can only rely on *how* he presents his part.
For me, just speaking about the closing arguments, I could literally feel, that Johnny’s entire team, were fighting for a man they ALL truly cared for. As to where AH’s team were just fighting. There was a huge difference in they way Johnny’s team treated him, as a person, not just someone they were hired for. AH’s team, mostly looked like they were in pain, and couldn’t wait for this trial to end. That says A LOT!!!

When I seen the scene of Johnny taking a sip of coffee, he did it in such a way he felt sudden emotion and nervousness almost like he refelt something again and it's a way of hiding behind something because it's too emotional and don't want anyone to see it. I know because I am a survivor of abuse and it looked identical to what I do when I feel sudden strong emotions and want to hide my face, I grab my coffee immediately because I am a coffee drinker. Looked identical to me and that's how I can spot it. People don't get that is victims of abuse can see right through people that ordinary people cannot see.
If I was a blind juror and couldn't see body language or pictures, I would still have heard all the evidence I needed to hear to find AH liable.

I knew a woman who was the sweetest, kindest, gentlest soul and then shockingly use the foulest language when describing someone who had been an "Amber" in her life. I could feel the pain that the monster had inflicted upon her. So, even the gentlest soul, who is pushed to the extreme, is capable of the foulest language. I'm reminded of that woman when listening to Johnny's harsh messages and it doesn't bother me in the least. I hear his wounded soul. Gaslighting the jury is part of a good defense lawyers arsenal, under the name of "reframing the narrative" b.) If AH is a gaslighter, would she slowly have that effect on those around her, too? Including her legal defense c.) Do gaslighters attract similar minds?
@Law & Lumber said in another video (and forgive me if I don't quote quite correctly) that clients tend to choose attorneys that reflect their own personalities. Therefore, I imagine that Rottenborn has probably always been a gaslighter and manipulator, and Amber hired him because she recognized something of herself in him in those respects.

I feel like Rottenborn closing was trying to hypnotise the jury. The cadence, the swaying, the moving back amd fort to have people focusing on him and him alone... I thought the words had a point for his case, but the delivery felt disingenuous, in contrast with Camille and Ben that felt more sincere and passionate. AH side seemed like a group of people put together reluctantly and that were doing whatever possible to finish this project and get as far away from each other as they could. JD team came across as friends fighting for the same cause. And it showed in the closing. Elaine felt like a conspiracy theorist trying to convince other people that the sky is in fact yellow with purple squares.
I have no sure sources, but someone commented in an older video that AH team are specialized in settlements outside of court and don't have so much in court experience.

Agree. His closing delivery is no importance to a jury . I have been on two trials as a juror. We focus on the evidence to find the truth not how an attorney closing delivery was. I served as a juror in a criminal case and a civil case and the outcome of our decision was based on the evidence presented, not on how any attorney preformed.

I don't think either side expects to turn a juror around with their closing. But if you can cement the position of somebody that was on your side or bring a glimmer of doubt in a juror that's against you, you've helped your case.

I already commented before, but wanted to again because I remembered something you said the other day about Amber's heavy breathing and how it's interesting that we usually breathe deep when we are relaxed- not upset. As I watched her during the reading of the jury's verdict, seeing her breathe heavily and looking down, I immediately recognized it as sadness and didn't really think of it. But after hearing what you said about this specifically, it got me asking myself why I could tell it looked like sadness. When I am in a public place, or even in my own home and don't want to bring attention to my emotional state, I breathe very heavily in order to calm down my tears and mind. So, it could be that she was on the verge of crying, but breathing like that helped compose herself.
And last thing you got me thinking about was the way in which Johnny was fidgety during Camille's closing. Though it did seem a little out of place, I can't help but wonder if he was being this way because he knew he needed to give her his attention, but at the same time felt uncomfortable and used fidgeting and drinking his drink as a way to distance himself from his feelings of discomfort. But I don't really feel he was being rude or anything, maybe he was just trying to force an appearance he couldn't actually force himself to do.
Long time ago that this was posted, but one reason he could have been fidgeting is that Johnny Depp has ADHD. It can be incredibly difficult for someone those of us with ADHD to sit still, especially during stressful times. Hell, it's difficult for me to sit still, ever.
I too was REALLY impressed by Rotterborn’s “performance” when I first watched it.
Yes ! He was engaging, his arguments were powerful… He almost convinced me to look at things differently…
But now that I got more time to process this closing, I am just angry and MAD. I realise that what he did was gaslighting at its finest. His arguments tricked me into guilt.
He was basically asking us to forget everything we saw with our own eyes and everything we heard with our own ears and only trust what he was saying ; “ if you don’t believe amber you are dismissing all victims of DV and you are a bad person”. Almost worked ! SCARRY !!!!
It was the ultimate attempt from heard’s camp to bend our perception and play dangerous mind games.
If anything, it makes me more understanding and empathetic to people who fall in these disgusting traps.

Legally he was right. They had to say that Johnny NEVER did anything abusive to Amber otherwise it isn't defamation. I liked how JD's side clapped back saying she advised him off a lot more than yelling.

And then when Camille came back she delivered me of that feeling and i realized that he was manipulating us. But after giving it some thought, I changed my mind. It’s BS :
1) I don’t think this argument is “technically or legally” valid.
Amber didn’t say “Johnny abused me this one time, or Johnny used to smash cabinets, pass out in random places and send me bad texts” she claimed he was physically and sexually abusive. The instructions were very clear, the op-ed must be considered as a whole (with all its implications)
2) this argument and the first amendment one look like an act of desperation.
I’ve said this elsewhere: One of the most telling signs is the confidence that Johnny’s team fought with and the utter lack of confidence that Amber’s team fought with. Johnny’s team knew they could back up their side, and Amber’s team knew they had nothing.
I have thankfully never experienced domestic violence. What strikes me is that every single person who has experienced it and has commented on YT has said they don’t believe Amber, but they do believe JD. I have not yet read a comment where someone has said that they recognise themselves in Amber’s story. That is very telling.
When Amber appeared outside the court with an apparently bruised face after filing the TRO, I completely believed her. She has done such a great job of changing my opinion.
I found the level of HER confidence very telling... I have never experienced physical violence but I have experienced emotional & mental abuse resulting in ptsd and THAT WOMAN has NOT BEEN TRAUMATIZED.
You sound kind of delusional. Will you accept the verdict if he loses this time too? After losing a case reviewed by more than one judge before? Oh and there's also another case coming up where he's being sued for assaulting a man.

Rottenborn definitely had a presence and did well with what case he had, but he also slipped up a few times, one time leaving Elaine visibly SHOCKED (when he mentions "it doesn't matter if Amber is lying" What a MISTAKE, to plant that sentence, regardless of context.

Here are some quick facts about Amber that we know that are proven:
1) He wasn't the only alcoholic and drug abuser. She drank 2 bottles of wine a day, took drugs as well by her own admission.
2) Caught lying about using the makeup that didn't exist back then to "cover her bruises" frequently, which was refuted by the makeup company in court.
3) Past domestic violence arrest against her ex, literally charged and arrested. Plus admitted to domestic violence against Johnny. Plus suspicion of domestic violence against her own sister (her sister was discussing it with her friends by the poolside in a video clip), and assaulted her ex-best friend in public. In contrast Johnny has no history of being violent towards women, every single one of his ex gfs and spouses all speak highly of him, and has said he's never laid hands on them.
4) Audio recording of her admitting to cutting his finger in Australia (not allowed in this trial due to technicalities), proving again that her testimony was a lie. (one of the voices on the tape is now deceased and can't testify)
5) Her psychologist lied about Amber having no domestic violence history and was called out by Johnny's attorney.
6) Has NO witnesses or evidence (all conveniently random strangers that she doesn't know or deceased people like the bodyguard)
7) Her longtime assistant testified under oath that she did not once see or hear any physical abuse from Depp or ever saw any injuries on Heard in all the years. She also testified under oath that Heard spit ON her face when she asked for a raise
8) She visits Dr Kipper's office the day after an alleged incident where she was severely beaten, the doctor's medical report states her in perfect health, with no injuries of any kind on her, also state her skin was in perfect condition. Her explanation was "this was a partial report and I didn't have time to get into the details with the doctor about the injuries". (Day 16 of trial cross examination)
9) Allegedly got her nose broken, hit multiple times, her scalp and hair ripped off, penetrated by a bottle, dragged over broken glass and got her arms and legs "pretty cut up", then somehow felt safe enough to take sleeping pills with her "attacker" in the same house, woke up the next day and made him coffee, then went to James Corden's show miraculously healed. No marks, no scars, no pictures, no medical report . Hair stylist saw no signs of abuse, the hair stylist would've been inches away from her face looking at all the details while working on her appearance, and she saw 0 injuries. Multiple witnesses (including 3 cops) saw no signs of abuse.
10) Allegedly got raped and assaulted multiple times on her honeymoon, then wrote Johnny a love letter saying "it was the most amazing and beautiful honeymoon any girl could've ever dreamed of". (evidence presented in Day 18 of trial)
11) Claimed she wanted to leave Johnny, but in all the audio clips she was the one begging him to stay. Claimed she always tried to de-escalate, but in audio clips she was always the aggressor preventing him from leaving and taunting him .
12) In all her "crying", there's never a single tear coming out of her eyes, even when reciting the most "traumatic experience".
13) Allegedly feared for her life but bought him a large knife.
14) Testified under oath that she was beaten by Johnny with huge chunky rings on all his fingers, said she was "hit so many times in the face over and over again she lost count". The photos taken the next day shows her face completely spotless without any injuries, when cross examined, she answers "there do not appear to be any injuries on my face in that photo".
15) Caught lying under oath again saying she "didn't receive money" from Johnny when she got $7 million, and lying about "never assaulted" Johnny when she admits to it on tape.
16) Proven once again as a liar when she made public statement of donating 7 million dollars for children's hospital but in reality donated exactly 0 dollars before she was called out, also caught lying under oath about donating the money. Her sworn statement was "I donated the entire settlement of $7 million to charity", when cross examined, she states "I did not lie, I pledged the $7 million, "pledged" and "donated" are synonymous, they mean the same thing." (Day 16 of trial cross examination)
17) Blackmailing Depp with her attorney, trying to make a deal for 3 of the adjoining penthouses where they both lived, 50k monthly expenses, 500k in attorney fees and the SUV Depp let her drive in exchange for not filing the protection order.
18) Her publishing of the op-ed "domestic violence" piece is timed perfectly with the release of Aquaman film, it didn't get published when they divorced, or before, or right after, but instead it was published right when Aquaman was being released and when the "Me Too" movement was grabbing the most headlines.
19) Amber Heard's team desperately tried to stop the trial from being publicly broadcasted while Depp's team made sure it was made public
20) Long time friend and co worker of Amber Heard telling about her hardcore cocaine and drug habit dating all the way back to 2008 when they were close associates, (youtube show called "Steven and Jason" and in the newest episode titled "We need to talk about AH").
21) Amber testified about having injuries such as “gross colored puss coming out of her temple” and “suffering a broken nose”, but when cross examined she changes the lines to “gross colored puss UNDER HER SCALP” and “FELT like a broken nose”, because she knew the evidence is about to show ZERO injuries visible on her. (How does she see gross colored puss under her scalp? With an X-ray machine??)
22) Allegedly got beaten up for FIVE YEARS and not a SINGLE injury shown on her face, no doctor visits, no dentists, no surgeons, no photos, despite countless appearances in public events and countless photos taken given her celebrity status, many of those public appearances were the night after "the beating", keep in mind the beating were all allegedly done by Depp with "huge chunky" rings on all his fingers, yet after five years of beating, she didn't need to visit the doctors once or show on sign of injury on her face, sounds like her facial bone density and durability of her skin can match that of armor platings.
23) Alleges Johnny slashed the soles of her feet, but was seen the next day walking completely normal, again no doctor visits or treatments of any kind even though she has a personal doctor on retainer.
24) Constantly changing details of her stories and allegations, she's already given 4 different versions of the poop incident, she has said "1: told security guard that she pooped and it was a practical joke gone wrong. 2: Johnny did it to frame her. 3: said it never happened and Johnny was gaslighting her. 4: said the tiny puppies did it."
25) Her lying under oath is not even worth mentioning anymore, there is too many to list, just to list a few in this trial alone. Lying about not receiving any money from Johnny, when in fact she received $7 million. Lying about having donated the money, when in fact she has donated $0 so far. Lying about never assaulted Johnny, when in fact she was recorded admitting to it multiple times. Lying about never assaulted anyone before, when in fact she's assaulted at least 4 that we have evidence of. Lying about her injuries, when a medical record showed absolutely no injuries.
26) She put someone through hell for years, publicly shamed and destroyed his career and life, just so she can be seen as a noble victim and use the attention and sympathy to advance her career and profile. She claims she's never wanted to be seen as a victim and wanted to move on, but appears in countless TV shows and articles talking about her "abuse" and "donation" non stop, literally appeared on every show she could to talk about her being a victim and being noble on the donation that never happened.
27) Amber's own friend, Tillet Wright, a long time close friend with Amber Heard, testified under oath that he's never seen or heard Amber being abused by Johnny Depp. (Day 20 of trial)

I was instantly turned off the aspects of Rottenborn’s closing that implied the jurors were sending a message to ALL victims of abuse (uh no just lying Amber), and that the Constitution defends Amber’s right to publicly cast terribly disparaging character assassinations and claims that everyone knew was about JD, regardless of whether they were actually true. That’s a horrifying standard.
Why doesn’t Rottenborn just come out and say, “Even if she lied about 99% of the allegations, if JD said one bad word to her one time, you must find in her favor.”

And those claims are what the actual case is about the DV and SA accusations.. But him saying that not believing lying Amber is a message to all victims.... I think Rottenborn came off as really sleazy when he confused Johnny with Jack Sparrow. When he said a judgement against Amber was a judgement against all of the #MeToo women, it made me sick!!! The tapes proved she is a lying perpetrator of violence, not a victim. Rottenborn's swaying was really annoying and came off as nervousness to me. His cadence made me tune him out.
Elaine was the only one that kept fighting. I can tell rottenburg and the other one gave up.

I have this hope that all this MeToo talk he did showed the jury that Amber is just taking advantage of other victims to guilt trip people into believing her and siding with her. Johnny Depp was proven to be a heck of a guy - generous, caring, a survivor of early-life abuse. He has addictions - that's him not dealing with his pain. He treats everyone else like gold.
For me, I felt that Rotternborn did "good" for maybe the first 10-15 minutes. But the longer he spoke, the more he lost me. He just felt like a salesman, not to be trusted. He tried to sell me something bad, something fake... Maybe it has to do with that Camille Vasquez and Ben Chew made me feel something and also, during Ben Chews last words I almost started to cry.

Yes, but that's also a mistake JD brought upon himself and somebody must open his eyes and spirit about it. As an actor, you shouldn't let your roles and characters invade your private life, the daily life you lead, your actions and/or thoughts. That's a very important thing. So, around 24 years ago I worked for a theater and one day, I was talking to the owner of that place, after the end of another performance that same gentleman wrote and directed. One of the actors decided to leave the building WITHOUT taking all his character's make up and clothes, calling a lot of attention upon him as the press, audience and other people were also around. The director told me: "that was a lack of respect for the role he is playing and the character he portrays; your life should not be mixed with the stories and characters you are playing on stage; that shows immaturity and lack of respect for the character he portrays, even if fictional, and a disrespect for his other colleagues, who completely cleaned up before leaving the building". I couldn't understand that statement by that time but later I understood what he meant. He had managed theaters around the planet, even in Japan, had played characters himself and his wife was an actress and had won a Molière prize in Paris some years before, for best production of Midsummer's Nights Dreams (Shakespeare). Working with them I learned a lot about arts, the theater and performance. It was a great spiritual journey as well as a diving into the passion of the theater, which is also my own eternal passion. I am telling you this to exemplify that once JD decided to visit hospitals dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow for children, even if for a good cause, he brought upon him that "curse", as if between JD and a XIX century character of a pirate, completeley fictional, there wasn't any difference. Jack Sparrow is funny, a criminal but a type of criminal we syimpathize with because he makes us laugh and enjoy his company, jokes and demeanor... but that pirate IS NOT THE ACTOR JOHNNY DEPP! And today, everywhere you look people bring both together as if reality and fiction were one when they are not! But he started sowing that seed and this has brought some issues now. It becomes difficult to separate both and everytime you watch a new film of JD you don't see the actor you used to like but it looks the "shadow" of Jack Sparrow is behind him no matter what! It is disturbing... it passes a bad judgement on his performances. And this lawyer, using this "curse" in his statement brought to the mind of jury and audience that Jack Sparrow really exists and HE IS JD, the abuser... isn't all pirates always drunk and drugged? always abusive and dangerous? violent and audacious? lowlives and criminals? So, Johnny must be a "pirate actor" who abuses "beautiful women with angelic faces"... as in the past when pirates kidnappend, raped and killed women or sold them as slaves around many nations. In my opinion, JD must make a pause in his acting career, giving some time for detoxing himself of drugs, alcohol and from Captain Jack Sparrow and finally, rise like a Phoenix from the ashes into a new role, completely detached from his last characters we got used to. This will stop rumors and the stupidity of linking him to Jack Sparrow all the time, besides proving his genius and talent as an actor. I wish that for him, as a new start, the turning of the page into a new chapter. I think I will send him a message stating my thoughts, for him to think about it and maybe, just "maybe", try a new approache in his acting career, now that so many people are inviting him for new film productions.

I was mentally & physically abused for the last 4 years of my marriage. I know how that feels. I know what truth looks like. Turd did NOT experience the severe abuse she’s claiming she did. The way she interacted with JD during these so called abusive times is NOT the way you do when you’re legitimately afraid of your abuser. I’m so afraid there will be a hold out in the jury because they may not understand this. JD deserves to win this case. Although, even if he doesn’t win, his reputation is safe and he’ll be better for it. Turd’s reputation, on the other hand, is shot. I hope she never works again and is miserable for the rest of her life because she tried to ruin JD. She’s an evil, self centered POS.

AH team continued to draw Johnny as a monster in their closing arguments, with Ellaine berating non-stop. Honestly, even I, myself was drowned with that and it clouded my memory of what Camille and Ben Chew delivered earlier. I'm glad that Camille had 39 minutes of rebuttal against the 6 mins in AH team. Somehow, Camille regained the ground.
I would be so disappointed to have gone through this entire trial only to be dismissed before getting to go and discuss everything with my fellow jurors!

The only significance for JD to have a win is that it's on the books, recorded that he won a judgment, w/or w/o money. BUT his overall objective was to get his reputation and standing back and for his family. The money we all know is a bonus. IF AH were to win, she'd be rubbing this mess in everyone's face and gloating about it and the jury already don't like her so no more good things for her. I really think they'll put out a good message here that you can't believe everyone especially women when they come out saying they've been abused and the example needs to be made w/her.
At least you guys are allowed to discuss what happens in the deliberation room afterwards. We are never allowed to discuss it. They even remind you that you cannot speak of it to close family.

What infuriated me (apart from Amber) was that all of Johnnys texts were shown but is team we’re not allowed to mention why they have none or few of Ambers, even when she said she handed it all over to her lawyers. That should have meant that they could bring in the timeframes etc and that most of what was handed over wasn’t anything to do with the case. The jury should have known that they weren’t seeing angry or terrible texts from her because she didn’t send any, just that they didn’t get them at all or in time.

While I can see why you were gushing about Rottenborn’s closing, think you didn’t address my main issue with him-that he established a baseline of being smarmy and disingenuous throughout the trial. So when he tries to reset and be the calm voice of reason, it strikes me as a complete fake. Had he provided the same demeanor throughout the trial it’d be far more credible. Guess it’s a question of how short juror’s attention spans are?

Agree, he did really well during closing arguments and probably captivated the jury, but I hope that they consider people's behaviors during the entire trial. For example, Rottenborn objecting while Ben Chew was giving his closing argument was obnoxious, desperate and classless. I can't help but feel there was a Ben vs. Ben dynamic going on.
Besides, I know that Cap'n Jack is a scoundrel. We all know that, yet we still root for him in every film.
Ben Rottenborns closing statement was well done, but for me it was completely countered by the gaslighting at the start of his argument..

Yes, that stuff annoys me greatly. Especially as a survivor. First reaction is, "You don't tell me what to do, asshole."

I Loved how they got hold of text messages he never sent to Amber because his system was hacked and heard's lawyers for NGN were given them all... However, Amber refused to give them access to her own devices... Hell, we'd all be guilty if our venting texts to our friends, family when we are upset or angry with someone else got into others hands.... However, if Rottenbourne made them think of Jack Sparrow, not sure if I was on the jury, if I'd find it helpful being reminded. After all, it's the man, not the character which is on the stand.
Camille's passion & Ben Chew's raw emotion moved the jury. Their belief in Johnny filling the room was beautiful to see. I feel that justice will be served.

The one thing that came to mind after watching the closing arguments from both sides was that Camille was talking TO the jury and Rottenborn was talking AT them. Camille's first statement was more engaging and allowed the jury to put things in perspective with the facts she presented. Even though Rottenborn had some solid arguments, I felt like he was lecturing the jury more than he was trying to be engaging. It also didn't help his case that Elaine completely diminished the impact Rottenborn had with her spastic word salad. Camille followed and completely dismantled their arguments and effectively reminded the jury what this is actually about. A defamation trial which was the result of false accusations.
Beautiful distinction between "talking TO the jury" and "talking AT the jury". The first one implies you are giving a speech and trying to convince with arguments, meanwhile talking AT means almost trying to "brain-watch" the public (by putting images in their head), instead of convincing them with arguments.
Camille's timeline was great. Witness testimony & evidence can seem so disjointed and closing is the perfect time to put them in order, showing how each piece proved each thing that needed proving. Unfortunately for Amber, her lawyers failed to do that for her.
Elaine was exhausting! She was like those ads for pharmaceuticals that timelapse all the possible side effects at the end

When I heard Rottonborn read the text messages it drove home to me how angry and hurt Johnny was. And it also highlighted his humor and sarcasm.
Regardless of how Rottenborn addressed the jury he came across to me as arrogant, rude, condescending, angry and borderline violent throughout the case. If I was on the jury I wouldn't have been receptive to anything he said.
So true. Putting all that she lied about then stating this is for all Dv/Sa victims. She's got him tied around her finger. After they started passing post it notes, all of a sudden, he's calling her amber. The other guy, I feel bad for.
When rotten stated you're an idiot if you choose anything, but her side, I was like, nope. Now we're done. If I'd been on that jury, no matter what else he said, I wouldn't be able to listen to another word.

Something along those lines, but that tells me he was trying to intimidate the jury by saying, basically, they'd be idiots if they don't vote for AH.

Personally for me I engaged more with Camille's arguments because it came across as more authentic and emotionally connected. I felt like Rottenborn was trying to sell me something that was not rooted in any emotion but was trying to sell me emotion instead.
Yep! I implied the same thing the other day, and the response I received was, "Genuine?" -questioning my terminology. Camille and Ben were far more connected throughout this case, where as someone else had mentioned; AH's team were simply alienating.
but part of that could also be because you already know the truth about what had happened. plus its way easier to be emotionally relatable when you're simply speaking the truth, without any filters, which is what Johnny's lawyers did. You feel these things intuitively.
yeah I feel like Depps lawyers fully believe in Depps case which make it more powerful for me. Heards lawyers just feel like they're going through the motions

Camille's closing remarks were like we're being told a story. There are pictures and recordings placed during her remarks to remind us as to what happened/was said. They were placed perfectly. It was easy to follow.
Agreed - it was a convincing, logical and believable narrative. She explained motive also - as did Ben.
Yes..that was the one thing I appreciated..she told it in the line of events and like you said easy to follow. Whereas, rottenborn was all over the place to me

To me Rottenborns testimony was less effective than it could have been because the first time I caught him gaslighting me, the rest was just blah, blah, blah. I am so tired of being gaslighted by Amber and her team, my mind just won't pay attention to it.

Rottenborns closing statement felt like my old history teacher reviewing materials for the year finals. Something I did not enjoy back then. Him going over the “rubric” of the laws to follow as a jury member and the walking around felt like a presentation. Where as JD team reminded me of a graduation speech. I was touched and engaged with the words. I was presented with audio and visuals perfectly placed in the line of the words being told as well

Maybe it's because we were not his intended or captivated audience, but I agree. I only listened to the arguments, as I was at work. I didn't watch the video. Camille and Ben Chew got me choked up and misty. I could hear the emotion in their voices. They truly believe in Johnny. They have come to care for him and they deeply truly want to help him. And I can hear it.
Ben Rottenborn came across as manipulative and monotone. "If you don't support amber, you don't support victims of DV." and using the first amendment?? That shows me that you've got nothing else to actually work with. And I already know that Jack and Johnny are different people, so the comparison/divide with the pirate line didn't catch me. But also, when he brought up the texts, I thought of the one JD vehemently said he never wrote. And I believe him. He's admitted to so much else, including other distasteful texts. Why deny that? And of course, then Elaine comes in sounding panicked and desperate, and essentially recounts entire testimonies and honestly, bored me.
Agree, I found Rottenborns so boring I turned off. Even next year found it to be like a lecture zz zz boring.
Also if theory of pirate villain was to.. As in this video let's thank Camille again for naming and listing in rebuttal their names, jobs, she reminds the jury.. They are like you and they do not lie.. Policeman, policewoman, tec person, nurse etc and she said it slowly and respectfully 🙏👍

But personally, after sitting through Amber’s testimony, seeing and hearing her tell lie after lie after lie, (and ridiculously bad ones, at that), I’m not caring WHAT her team says or how they say it. My mind is 💯 on the reason we’re all here. And nothing they say is swaying me.
