The fact that they're trying to say this is a setback to women is just insulting to actual victims. Disgusting. I've seen too many abusive women to know Amber is full of shit. If you're trying to say DV victims are the same as her, that's an insult.
This is a win if anything. Men now will be more comfortable with MeToo-ing their abusers as well, instead of just sucking this trauma up due to toxic masculinity.
They’re trying to get actual female victims to side with Amber. They want these women to be infuriated, and start a movement on Amber’s behalf. However, men are abused everyday, as well as women. We just don’t hear it as often. Abuse is abuse, period. Man or woman. This hasn’t set women victims back at all.

Elaine doesn't care, she manages to stretch her 15 minutes of fame into 31 minutes of fame. That's true skill, even if she gets disbarred (Idk the US law but I read her going on TV and talking about the case was really ethically questionable, to put it mildly).

Most men can’t afford that - and the fact is, most women don’t even need to fabricate evidence to have the guy found guilty.
Amber would have gotten away with it had she not decided to crank her accusations up to 1000/10. Being raped with a broken bottle without injury was too ludicrous - but had she just said he raped her, or kept the abuse to being slapped about sometimes, she’d have gotten away with it. The jury would buy he smacked her once or twice, but not that he beat her until she lost consciousness with a fist covered in rings, but the damage to her face could be covered up with concealer..
Amber needs to lose her parental rights over her daughter. Her daughter is going to get abused at home and bullied at school if that doesn’t happen.

I don't understand this whole "setting domestic victims back" rhetoric. Um the victim won. He was abused, he was silenced for years, he was villified by the very person abusing him. Come on, this was a win for abuse victims everywhere. Separating victims into genders is a disgusting way of trying to shield herself from accusations. Anyone can be a victim and anyone could be an abuser. The facts and evidence is what matters most, and justice prevailed in this case.

The fact that this woman comes on national TV and basically did trying to delegitimize the court ruling because she doesn't like the ruling. I think this lawyer should be sanctioned. Elaine’s main problem as an attorney shows in her interviews: she sticks to a script-and when anything goes off-script (like witnesses giving answers that she didn’t already know they were going to say), she freezes up and can’t roll with it.

The UK Judge only allowed 1 written statement by each side, 1 written rebuttal, and 1 written response to the rebuttal. Optimized testimony with no live interaction to show that someone is a liar. And only 1 person (the Judge) decided the entire case based on that.

It's about the guaranteed option of a jury in the US to avoid the risk of biased judges, and the right to face one's accuser in US courts. It also stems from the US having a common procedure for all trials, whether criminal or civil.
Whereas in the UK, for civil matters, the Judge decides the procedure and makes the decision. If the Judge is biased, the procedure becomes biased, and the decision problematic.
The US kept the Common law (precedents have the force of law) concept of England, but adopted some parts of Civil Law (all legal cases follow the same procedure) from France.
This resulted in US law having some of the same advantages and disadvantages of both.
This verdict is NOT a setback to the true victims of DV but a setback to the liars, manipulators and false accusers who decides to destroy someone's life based on false accusations and lies. But at the same time people who comes forward with accusations they would be thoroughly investigated. Don't dismiss any accusation outright but rather have it through investigated and all kind of evidence should be obtained.

I am so glad the Jurors saw right thru her performance which was terrible I might add. I never even heard of Amber until this.. was never a huge Johnny Depp fan. But I love his character he has problems yes.. but that doesn't make you an abuser.. He is a stand up guy. No abuser would come out and tell the world about how bad your childhood was.. All the abuse he went thru. He does need God in his life. I am healed today from abuse not my father or mother but relationships.. some physical and some mental abuse. He needs a healing.. Did you just realize? News Media is meant to spread the information they want you to see, not the information you should know about. A republican news media outlet wouldn't share information about Trump if some damning, end-of-his-career evidence got leaked, much like a democrat or liberal news media outlet wouldn't share info on Biden if it were leaked. As a survivor of DV, EVERYTHING about Amber rang false from the VERY beginning. I’m talking all the way back in 2016. Watching this trial gave me flash backs to my own abuse. “My dad is a cop, your dad is a construction worker. Who do you think they will believe if you say anything?” If this trial did anything it is to empower and survivors of DV to come forward regardless of gender because there are people who will listen. Amber didn’t get a harsh enough judgment in my opinion.
Don’t worry, now Australia and UK are going to go after her. I hope she violates more laws around the world, yea maybe it’s time to visit Asia, go to the Philippines and try to pull some false allegations, go to Pakistan and disrespect Muslims, then go to China and upset someone powerful, then go to India and hurt cows, and then she can go to Tanzania and ruin someone’s house, go be racist to the Latinos in Mexico then denounce a climate change and declare soldiers who died in Ukraine Russia war don’t matter, then she’ll basically be welcome in zero places in the world, difficult to do, but she’ll win the Guineas book record for most hated woman in world in no time.

The judge is being looked into over here in the UK 🇬🇧, we believe he was paid off ... Now its been brought to light that Amber was the actual perpetrator I am hoping everything over here in the UK will be retracted..
to be fair it was also a very different standard. the truth didn't matter. only that there was enough evidence to report that it was likely or even just possible. essentially if the photos could trick a reasonable person it was fair game. the standards were much lower even if there was some slimy shit going on behind the scenes.

This is not a setback for women (notice she didn’t say survivors or victims). Amber has been triggering survivors this entire time, as they know better than anyone that she is the abuser.

Probably not the last time Elaine will be in court with Johnny and Amber. Given she has repeated the same claims that were just proven to be false, Johnny could easily sue her for defamation as well. She will probably also have to take Amber to court for non-payment of her legal fees. The entire trial was public and can be checked easily either on YT on other plateforms.

critically in the UK trial the photos used as evidence and so on didn't have to be real. they just had to be plausible enough at a glance that the newspaper could allege these things. essentially as long as there was a question to ask it cleared the sun of charges. this trial required the photos to be examined for the actual truth of the matter and not as plausibility for reporting.

I live in Japan. I was there when they came to Tokyo Amber wearing that red backlerss dress. My friend and I was right behind them the whole time. She did not have any bruise or a scratch or even a dot on her back. I remember this so well because people were talking about how beautiful Amber's skin was, even her back so flawless and fine, beyond beautiful. I wish I could have testify as a witness from Japan that she is the biggest liar.

As a DV victim myself my abuser would always tell me to cover up especially if people turned up/my family members. This was over 20 yrs ago but I still remember so clearly. My mother wouldn't let me wear shorts unless I joined the football team growing up because otherwise people would see the cats and bruises on my legs, neck, and shoulders and know what was up but once I started football it was all blamed on that.

As a survivor of sexual abuse I don’t believe AH’s loss will impact abused women coming forward as I’m convinced she lied and true victims for the most part could sense this. If anything, she’s made it more difficult for true survivors of DV to be believed.
One thing I will say is that for as cunning as Amber came off during this trial I find it hard to believe that of all the pictures she provided (one of which was provided twice for two separate incidents) she had none that showed abuse. Before people come at me I realize not everyone does this and that doesn’t mean the abuse didn’t happen.
However, given Amber’s track record of recording and taking pictures of everything and anything I find it hard to believe she didn’t have at least one single solitary picture taken during the whole five years she said she was being beaten to substantiate her claim. Bottom line, any type of abuse to woman or man should be throughly investigated to determine the truth. Period.

Did you have the chance to just whip your phone out and video tape your assaults? Or were you scared, frozen in fear, knowing that the other person can overpower you in a second?
I’ll remind you of what getting hit just once feels like: intense pain followed by a warm and tingling/numb sensation that spreads throughout your face before you pass out and hit the deck!!! Using your phone at this time is not an option- you’re being flung everywhere and are most probably frightened . Trying to predict when someone’s going to hit you and secretly recording them isn’t an option either because people are unpredictable.
Also if you’re caught recording you’ll be beaten worse! You risk serious injury trying to record an abuser.
You’re one very brave person if you wack your phone out and start recording that!!!

on top of the constant recording of everything damning. she had no medical records, and no pictures of the amount of swelling she should have had if she really was beaten the way she claimed. especially with large chunky rings involved.
no amount of cream or make up will hide swelling. then there's the part where she explained how to use make up and a lot of make up people explained the way she explained it was backwards and would show things over concealing things.
I agree! I was a victim of sa at a young age by a step grandfather who I was close to growing up and then it started soon as I hit puberty. I went to stay with them for summer school and he started maki my comments about my body on the low. Then he started making me let him do things, tormented me with tapping the house phone to make sure I didn’t talk about it and told my grandma he did it to make sure I wasn’t talking to this girl he didn’t want me hanging out with. Then he would ground me and wouldn’t let me visit my cousin or my dad if I didn’t let him. I was a terrified kid that when I finally confided with a fam member about it. We are talking about the mid 90s when this happened. I didn’t have a phone or a tape recorder. The plan was for me to get one from someone and tape him. Well the fam member I confided in, called him the next day and said I was making allegations so he and my grandma drove me home after he dragged me down the hallway by my hair and threatened me. I didn’t say anything to my dad when they took me home bc I knew he’d kill him and go to prison so I told him soon as they left.
Three yrs later we went to court after me riding around with detectives looking for the old motel he had taken me to after making me drink white lightening and I couldn’t really remember where it was; after having no physical evidence bc I didn’t know to save the “stuff” he left behind when he would do sa to me. I was a kid and didn’t know any better. I even had a friend skip school and come to his house and hide somewhere to be a witness. That was all I had. I had to get on the stand and give embarrassing details while my dad was sitting in the gallery watching me. It was devastating having to do that in front of my father and strangers I didn’t know. I was 16 when we went to court. His defense was that I made it all up bc I didn’t get to go to a birthday party and they found him not guilty. That is not what happened to Amber!! She was lying. It took everything in me not to jump out of the passenger seat on the way home. I never went back for the verdict. My dad had to tell me and take me home bc they didn’t want me in the court room hearing that he was free to go. I recently found out by my grandmother that he raped another woman’s daughter before she met him in the 80s. She didn’t find out until after he died back in 2016. Amber is a disgrace to victims like me. That wasn’t the last time I was a victim of sa either. It’s horrible. It changes who you are and makes you hateful and bitter. Can never trust people again.

The way she stated her bruises were she should have huge aftermath bruises that she could have taken a pic of. But no she didn't. Instead she was able to record him slamming cabinets, sleeping and took photos of "everything" EXCEPT the bruises.
