Best Leppard song in my opinion. Although everything on HIGH N DRY is awesome. "been here many times before....walked that sacred ground....this time you got me on my knees...." Just killer rock and guitar. Too bad music of today SUCKS. Long live THOSE DAYS.....Thanks for this one dude
I saw them on their High-N-Dry tour in '81 and little Pete was with'em. Joe had curly hair(Curly Joe). I was front row in the small theater and the joints were flying onto the stage! Nice show indeed!
This was the 1st "Real" concert I ever saw, at the Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles, Summer of 83". We pounded beers, and Yukon Jack in the parking lot. Smoked a skunk doobie, and headed in. Hard to believe that was almost 26 yrs ago. Fourteen to Forty. Time goes' by quick!
I had the priveledge of seeing them live in'81, High-n-Dry tour, Corpus Christi, with Pete Willis, Steve Clark, curly haired Joe, and both Rick's. We were 2 ft from the stage and picking up joints everyone was throwing at the boys.
Their songs used to convey the kind of angst that you experience at about that age: falling in love and longing so hard you'll turn yourself inside out to get it.
you damn right! vivian campbell cant never replace steve cuz he was an original that played the vintage stuff!!!! i loved his style of a guitarist and he is one of my biggest idols and hero with a les paul!!!
I was there in 1983 :-) ....And no , that isn't Steve in the Polka Dotted shirt -- it's Phil. Steve's wearin' the Polka Dotted bandana :-) ....we clear now? LOL ! !
The first 2 records are so great. The guitar riffs on those albums are up there with the best imo. Voice sounds fine. It's live for crying out loud. A lot of singers these days can't even get in the ballpark of their recordings.
what rayman meant was that phil was the original guitarist with steve on this album, this performance is off the high n dry album performed later after phil was booted
No, that's Phil Collen. Steve is the one with the longer blonde hair and looking like he just rushed over from the bank robbery and forgot to remove the bandana around his neck. Of course you probably already know this now. Both High n 'dry and Pyro are epic! Welcome aboard.
absolutely correct !!! I'm just wondering why today's Leps deny that they once were a band that played great metal and hard rock ... pop is good sometimes dut Def Leppard used to play great Rock N Roll ... i think that Steve Clark played a very important role to the musical direction of the band and now he's gone
I recorded this video using a VCR. It was brodcasted on french TV. I kept all the tapes from this period. It was great after many years to rediscover theses tapes.
@YooTubeSuxLikeHell i was born in the 1990 but my first album i got was hysteria the pyromania high n dry and on through the night but my fav album the last two of steve and phil true lineup of def lep
i don't mind if they do rock and pop songs as long as steve's around writing and playing the music. they did rock more with pete around, but he didn't have a more artistic vision and an ear for melody like steve does. DL's music has had no edge ever since steve died.
@thrashtilldeath09 Not his fault at all. In fact, he's actually the only one that still rocks! It's the direction the band took that ruined Def Leppard. Instead of staying true to their hard rock roots, they veered off into ballady commercial boy band territory after the success of Hysteria (Steve was fantastic on that album if you give an honest listen). The band went pussy though and left their hard rock male fans in the dust. Then they faded away until they became a nostalgic novelty.
@Treaty4 - my opinion isn't silly, but the words to "Pour some sugar on me" are. I wouldn't call it great or classic. True it's good music but not their best stuff. Their hard rockin' from albums 1-3 is the best Def Lep. I put "Pour some sugar" in the same boat as AC/DC's "Shook me all night long" : overplayed and loved by the bandwagon fans. I hear both songs too much while their other great songs are ignored.
but with your point of view,DP should never play smoke on the water or highway star again, because blackers and john are not in the band anyomore. not to mention axl's guns n'roses and them playin' almost whole AFD album live ;)besides, if any cover band can play those tracks, why shouldn't they be played by the band that wrote and recorded them? phil and viv are different than pete and steve, but that doesn't mean they're worse ;) and nobody says that they should play the solos note-for-note :)
Hey man, just giv'er alot of practice, trust me, I'm gettin' pretty good at my leads, I just practice my ass off hours a day, you'll get good at them, trust me.
they should have brought Pete back after Steve died. also, Joe Elliot these days should get himself back in shape, hes getting fat.i saw him on tv at the Download Festival and he doesn't sound that great.
what... Joe can't sing... you know what are you talkin'... hahhahahahaa well he can't sing and that's why they are in Guiness record book, here for more than 30 years, got millions of fans... yeah and that all is cause he can't sing... hahahna na na you really don't have taste of music..If Joe can't sing that i don't know who does
Wish they played this live again

On Through The Night and High N' Dry ought to be my favourite Def Leppard albums. The Leppard I love most!
This song really is amazing. Very under-rated tune.
A l'époque j avais 13 ans... J écoute toujours :)
Now THIS is the Def Leppard I know and love. Hard Rock Heaven
steve clark was always known as an awesome songwriter but hes such an underrated lead guitarist
great riff ..steven Clark
Now this is the Def Leppard i know, and the one i miss.
This is Def Leppard.
I saw them on their High-N-Dry tour in '81 and little Pete was with'em. Joe had curly hair(Curly Joe). I was front row in the small theater and the joints were flying onto the stage! Nice show indeed!

Excellent, thanks!
lady strange lady strange i want you...oh what a great song!!! love the lepps
Recently learned this song from 'em! (and I love it too!). =)
I love High N Dry.
Joe is a lovely singer.
I adore this song.
Def rulz!
I had the priveledge of seeing them live in'81, High-n-Dry tour, Corpus Christi, with Pete Willis, Steve Clark, curly haired Joe, and both Rick's. We were 2 ft from the stage and picking up joints everyone was throwing at the boys.
Thanks for sharing. It`s a great video! Joe Elliot had a great voice then.
thanks for sharing this.first 2 albums are my favorite.and this is my favorite DL song.RIP steve

I was there too. They freakin' rock. I followed them San Diego for the last show afterwards.
I was there in 1983 :-) ....And no , that isn't Steve in the Polka Dotted shirt -- it's Phil. Steve's wearin' the Polka Dotted bandana :-) ....we clear now? LOL ! !
Steve's solo was sick!
awesomeness
how cool is this lol? this video rocks thanks dude. r.i.p. white lightning

OMG I am so in looooooove.
pete did come up with some riffs such as the one for high and dry the song. but i would still say steve wrote MOST of the riffs.
Love it love it love it!!!!!!!!!
Great!
Y can't music be like this now
Joe looked the best with the Mullet. Hysteria Era
i totally agree!!
hey im going to make a tribute band for def leppard called rock of ages
awesome
Go RICK!!!!!!
The sound is low on this, but face reality, every singer has a bad day here or there. or a slightly off night. This is not bad at all. Great to see!

Rick, the Thunder God!!!!!!
I recorded this video using a VCR. It was brodcasted on french TV. I kept all the tapes from this period. It was great after many years to rediscover theses tapes.
sorry but steve clark was their riffmaster and he wroted all riffs not pete
@YooTubeSuxLikeHell i was born in the 1990 but my first album i got was hysteria the pyromania high n dry and on through the night but my fav album the last two of steve and phil true lineup of def lep
This was NWOBHM at the time
Best Examples were Wasted, Die Hard the Hunter and a few others were absolute Heavy METAL \m/
Wow! They couldn't rock like that today if they tried!
one of my favourite DL songs :) wish they played that live nowadays instead of some hysteria/adrenalize stuff...
Your right, he was fighting off laryngitis at this time. He does have to break between shows because of this. I read the same thing,
sav is underated but he is so good
@Treaty4 - sounds like a good plan to me, always good to debate. Take care.
Back then bands wore uniforms... I'm pretty sure they did that entire world tour wearing the exact same outfits!
This is great, unlike "Pour some crap on me" and the like..
i don't mind if they do rock and pop songs as long as steve's around writing and playing the music. they did rock more with pete around, but he didn't have a more artistic vision and an ear for melody like steve does. DL's music has had no edge ever since steve died.

@TheFireWithin2779 I did, and I enhanced the video a little bit.
pas evident de trouver une explorer ibanez comme a phil collen /
si quelqu'un a des infos pour l'achat de cette guitare merci
Je me demande dans quelle émission c'était !! Les enfants du rock ??
@JonathanRingo
I agree as well. They lost their spontenaeity with all the computerised crap.
it takes SO LONG to buffer.
Joe was little off at times, but who cares. They still sound better than some covers of it today.

this was when they played hard rock and metal, if your gonna be in a rock band play rock, now there more soft rock
He was sick at the time.
pas le meme manageur , mais le meme producteur de l'époque
Who is Pete Wilson?
the sad thing is def leppard was at their best when rick had two arms and its not even his fault they suck now
with under the scene..pete Willis
Pete played on this album; High n Dry; so they're not so silly
quand def lep faisait du rock...ça fout la trouille, hein?
Hey man, just giv'er alot of practice, trust me, I'm gettin' pretty good at my leads, I just practice my ass off hours a day, you'll get good at them, trust me.
@YooTubeSuxLikeHell yep....
They were such cute guys back then, all of them.
It would seem kind of silly calling men nearing 50 cute right?
Amen angel.... i call the guys and we'll soon see their comments... yeah Joe can't sing... in some other life... or maybe nevr
they should have brought Pete back after Steve died.
also, Joe Elliot these days should get himself back in shape, hes getting fat.i saw him on tv at the Download Festival and he doesn't sound that great.

Instruments are tight, joe CAN'T SING.
