Um KFC has changed a lot since I was 13 yes old but at the local one I use to go to they use to peel potatoes and made their mashed tater fresh everyday I mean real fresh and the gravy was also from scratch but then the late 90s and on they slowly changed a lot of good stuff including the biscuits you can tell they're from those canned biscuits you know the ones that pops when you peel the label and McDonald's uses the same canned biscuits too..
I was at a sports camp one time and the food was horrible so I ate sandwiches the entire time. The last day I'm eating and this guy walked in carrying a box that said low grade cheese but edible. I puked. That's all I ate all week.
I've noticed this happening with not only KFC but also places like Olive Garden.. don't come for me, just hear me out.. Olive Garden used to be pretty decent. I mean, it wasn't the best American Italian place, and I know it's not authentic.. however, I ordered the tour of Italy, which used to be my favorite there and no no no..I took the whole entire bag of food back my girlfriend bought and got my money back. It was absolutely terrible! I'm not sure if there's Carabbas Italian food where you are since I live in Arizona.. but they are like how Olive Garden used to taste! I'm not the only one complaining either. The manager said they switched vendors with their chicken and been getting lots of complaints.. everywhere is just ordering cheap ingredients (like your government kfc mashed tators haha) and upping the prices.. wrong order! And a bunch of the problem is so many places are owned by the same company now, so it's just shit food everywhere for most of these chain restaurants, in my opinion.. it's all about money and not at all about food quality!
My bf and I make famous bowls at home. He worked at KFC for a while and refuses to eat it because the behind the scenes grossed him out so much. So we get gravy packets, dino nuggies, bob evams potatoes and mac and cheese, shredded cheese and go to town. Its nice cause you can also add stuff you want, like i usually throw in broccoli and green peas.

Yes, the wedges were my favorite. I was so sad they stopped making them. I go to Jollibee's now that we have a couple in our state. It's so much better, and the chicken beats KFC anyway!

Yes!! Their mashed potatoes are so watery. There are so many more options in the fried chicken market now, and KFC is slipping. There's a Korean Fried Chicken place in my neighborhood called Chimak House that has the bomb lemon pepper boneless fried chicken.

This is gonna be a long explanation, but I feel the need to explain something as a kid born in 1980… Essentially, almost every food company sold out in the 90s and have never been the same. KFC was the bomb in the 80’s and early 90’s, but they opted for cheaper, less-fresh, faster to prepare (frozen) ingredients around the late 90s/early 2000s just like every other fast food restaurant including Taco Bell, McD’s, Pizza Hut, Dominoes, etc. KFC was one of the first to self destruct. I remember the day they changed their recipe and it got progressively worse. To me, them & Taco Bell are the best examples. Taco Bell also changed “overnight”and wasn’t the same. This all occurred in the 90s when the FDA enforced the law of there being “Nutrition Facts” labels on everything and fast food corporations had to disclose it as well. In addition, there was a sudden great fear about saturated and trans fats emerging at the same time, and the FDA encouraged parents to check for how much fat, (saturated & trans fats mainly) bc this was tied to heart attacks and obesity. Chemical compounds & things that companies felt would trick consumer taste buds were suddenly used and everything from your cereal, candy bars, fast food, etc changed in the 90s. “Same packaging, new great taste” was a label on just about everything. I was a teen in the 90s and I noticed the changes. KFC was one of them that was completely destroyed, IMO. The 90s was when a lot of huge mergers, company buy-outs, and original owners died, including the owners of KFC and Wendy’s. Corporate teams fully took over at that point, maximizing profit became the priority, and as I mentioned…there were some ingredients they were afraid to disclose (and suddenly had to disclose to consumers by law…in the midst of a trans/saturated fat fear craze). Frozen foods that are of less quality and chemically altered is what we get a chain restaurants. That’s why I try to opt for privately owned shops and hole-in-the-wall places, where people are passionate about quality. They could bring back the popcorn chicken bc where i live the chicken nuggets are always super salty. The could definitely bring back nashville hot chicken etc and do away with the smash potstoe bowl altogether. Their mashed potatoes definitely changed bc the bowl my son had the other day tasted horrible.
