Thanks for this video - just stumbled across your channel recently. I collected coins years ago as a youngster and parted with them for financial reasons. Now collecting again. Got 55 coins (mostly old pennies ranging from 1860 to 1967) for £10 from my local market this week. Really enjoyed rummaging through the 20p tub! The oldest one from 1860 is between fair and poor. Most of the other coins are at least Very Good. The two best condition coins are the two shilling ones from 1949 and 1966. Glad to be back into the hobby and liking the idea of cheap coins to start with to see what turns up!
I used to live in Blackpool as a kid and i would regularly go under the pier and the amount of old old pennies in the mud and sand was mind boggling maybe people made a wish and chucked them into the sea it’s well worth a look
@@michaellooney1089 Every coin NGC slabbed for me had a predictive value I could look up. I do not need anyone to tell me it's value. I will not sell it for less as I know dealers who will pay me whatever the website shows the value of and that changes real time. So once again tell me exactly how I am getting ripped off. Fabulous information Paul. I never realised that some of these pennies were so valuable 😳. Thanks for explaining the grading of coins with examples. It's something that I've never really fully understood .
Great vid CP, It’s great to not only get the definitions of all the grades but to see some examples too. I think a lot my coins are now in a much better condition than I previously thought.
I have just realised the same What I thought was an avrg collection now is up there if only more years where in the collection at the grade of the others lol The real eye catching thing I noticed was I have a 1912 in far better condition than than the other
Hello from Canada. I was just gifted a bunch of these older coins from a British lady friend. I know nothing of British coins but do collect Canadian and American coins. I have a few of these coins similar to ones your showing from the 18’ hundreds, one being from 1864, that just blows my mind. It’s in good condition 😊
Fascinating video ,As I was a youngster in the 60's, My late father collected coins,He bought many sets in plastic cases, He used to say he could do with finding a 1933 penny. I have never forgot that, I was wondering what price it would command in today's market, in good condition. Thanks in anticipation !
Thank you for the informative video. Having an old penny collection started in 1966, I know I have some of the mentioned coins in your video, including two 1869 pennies. Must dig them out to check on their condition.
I have a box full of old pennies, I didn't realise they could be worth something, I inherited them, I guess I should have looked at them years ago. Good video, thanks.
I have the 1915 broken tooth penny. It's probably fine. But my 1950 and 1951 pennies are EF. Thank you for explaining why 1869 pennies are so expensive. For a coin that is stated as minted at around 2,500,000, Ive always wondered why it's so highly priced
Hi Paul, interesting video of the prices, shame there wasn't a better condition one when looking, £5 with a hole 🤔 at least you can return them coins and get Sue that necklace great video 👍
Regarding the 1951 penny, many would be uncirculated as they were sold in coin sets [with farthings, ha'pennies, sixpences, half crowns etc] at the time of the 1951 Festival of Britain. Arguably the complete sets are worth more than the sum of their individual coins as all the coins would be uncirculated. At least I hope so as I have a couple of the sets!
Excellent video. I have a Proof 1874 Heaton Mint penny . It was owned by same person who owned one of the Edward VIII pennies . My coin is in the US for Grading.
Thanx for a very interesting vid. many years ago I bought an old tourist hotel and in one of the toilets was an hair cream dispenser. I removed it during refurbishment and it was full of pennies. Some of them quite old. I still have them but had no idea what to do with them. I now live in Holland and have no access to interested parties.. I think.

I started collecting coins in the late 1960's as an alter boy in the local church we used to go through the pennies and swop out any Victorian one's. I went to a numismatic event a good few years back, and was told that many of their members had previously worked on the buses and that is where their interest started.
Great Information and on grading . Excellent. I've Only just seen your channel as ,strangely I've just started ,putting my coins into new plastic pages with pockets, the last ones I bought in about 1968(old design, that coins could fall out if the folder was upside down). When I was a trainee in a factory 1965, all I had was pennies in my pocket ,so I have many from early Victoria onwards, Pennies halfpennies etc. also I bought was a new Coin book 2023 as my old Seabys 1972 was a tad old and out of date. Now seeing this Vid, I'm amazed at the value my old pennies hold, even the the barely readable early Victorian Bun pennies etc. Have you done anything on British Token Coins?
I have only one penny in my collection which I kept because it was called a 'Honolulu' penny. It amused me to find out that unlike most where the trident rest on Brittania's knee, on this coin it rest's 'on her lulu'.
Hi Paul I have an 1839 penny which I understood to be uncirculated (my dad was a bit of a collector so I now have his collection). I showed it to a coin dealer last year and he offered £800 for it which I thought was a low ball offer. What sort of price do you think coins of that date are worth?
Hi, I've seen few of thses for sale and the prices range from £950 to £1500 in uncirculated conditon. £800 was a low offer but I suppose if he was a dealer then he's looking at making a good profit.

In 1958 I was a bank teller in Waihi, New Zealand. A Victorian penny dated 1862 still with the full Mint bloom was handed in as part of a deposit. As it was in uncirculated condition I kept it. For safety I put it with my special stuff in my locker, however my nine year old brother found it and spent it on an ice cream! What would that be worth?

Great explanation, on the different grades. Thanks. I found old coins, I had forgotten all about (in New Zealand: mainly NZ half crowns, & threepences. Most 50% silver dating (pre-1945)). All 3 English pennies, from mid-1800s had holes drilled in them. Must have been a common practise, back in the day. Maybe to have copper next to the skin, for health benefits? So, this video was just what I was looking for. Will check to see what else you have: just in case.
I used to have an old penny fruit machine as a kid and I still have a bag of old pennys as well as sixpences, threepence a few farthings and some small 3d coins,a large churchill coin and a 1977 silver jubilee coin not worth much per coin I guess but as I have loads of old pennys some Victorian might add up overall.
Hi Paul. I don’t know if it is of interest to you, but when much younger I used to collect pennies. Few half pennies as well. I must have hundreds in a bucket. Haven’t looked at them for maybe 15 years. You certainly spiked my interest. I know the oldest is a huge penny, almost the size of the top of a mug. Had to be fit to carry them in those days. Couple of stray coins. James 1 groat in silver. Might be 4 groats. Victorian crowns. And newer coronation crowns etc. great video. Most interesting. Ps. Can they be auctioned

I have some old coins, maybe around 100. Some are foreign, and I think that some are British. I'm not sure if they are worth anything. For example: 1) Britannia 1799 / Georgius III DEI GRATIA REX 2) Britannia 1773 / Georgius III REX What should I do with them?
I found a 1907 Penny whilst gardening. It’s the Queens grandfather George the 5th I think it’s not bad considering it was in the earth. Don’t know what it’s worth.
Thats great paul thank you very much for your help - so don,t give up my day job just now then lol - there so mini of them about ,🙏🙏 👍 cheers any way paul
I have a lot of Victoria copper coins, but because I found them in the ground with a metal detector , they have a green patina. Does that mean they are worthless, even though many are in great condition ? Tia
It matters but if rare then still holds a good price. Extremely rare, we pay top prices. It's knowing what to look for. 1862 half penny, worn and green, look at prices, enough for cheap holiday abroad. A,B,C,D
Hi webgibs. A 1914 should not be hard to find. But if it's a UK 1956 penny you're looking for then you won't have much luck, as none at all were minted in that year.

Hope you find a good one TenBob. Thanks for watching
I have an 1834 in excellent condition along with a Spanish coin from the eighteenth century. I would like to know their value.
I've got a load of these and other coins my dad and grandad had collected might have to have a better look now
I have some old coins, maybe around 100. Some are foreign, and I think that some are British. I'm not sure if they are worth anything. For example:
1) Britannia 1799 / Georgius III DEI GRATIA REX
2) Britannia 1773 / Georgius III REX
What should I do with them?
Do some research . You should be able to identify anything of value .
Thanks for the info, How much would a 1888 extremely fine, penny be worth?
Hundred quid . That's a high grade .
wow such an eye opener. have to have a hunt aroundx
I found a 1907 Penny whilst gardening. It’s the Queens grandfather George the 5th I think it’s not bad considering it was in the earth. Don’t know what it’s worth.
It will be Edward vii , and is unlikely to be worth anything .
@@chrisgoff6544 oh well I’ll pass on to younger niece or nephew might be worth something in time.
Hi great video, I have a 1967 penny in very good condition I wonder how much that worth . Thanks mark
That's a very common coin even in uncirculated condition , so nowt .
I only got 1919 one penny, still fine and legit as valuable coin and worth money to be considered by all means🥰❤️💥🌟
Great vid Paul 👍 Happy penny hunting (that's a hint for another 1000 penny hunt 😊)
Please don't encourage him 🤣
Not too long now Suzanne

@@NorthEastCoins hey Dave you're the one who pesters Paul for more penny hunts 😂😂😂 I'm just adding my voice to yours 😂😂😂
Tia
Depends on the die pairings
@@Dan-ng9mr so the green patina doesn't matter if it's a rare one .
I just assumed nobody would want green pre dec' coppers .
Thanks for your reply.
It matters but if rare then still holds a good price. Extremely rare, we pay top prices. It's knowing what to look for. 1862 half penny, worn and green, look at prices, enough for cheap holiday abroad. A,B,C,D
@@kevwhufc8640 is that West Ham United Football Club?? I used to live very near their Upton Park Ground !!
@@joline2730 yes its westham, I miss the boleyn so much .

I have a 1914 an a 1913 are they worth any thing
Shame I've got a 1919 old penny in excellent condition but no KN marking😭
Thanks very informative..I am looking for a 1914 and a 1956 penny in very good or better
Hi webgibs. A 1914 should not be hard to find. But if it's a UK 1956 penny you're looking for then you won't have much luck, as none at all were minted in that year.
@@CoinPatrol thanks was wondering why I couldn't find it ...why was that ?
@@webgibs The government decided there was plenty of pennies in circulation so none were minted between 1954 to 1961.
Sorry for this question and probably a daft one…….. (not a coin collector) but was there a 1penny in 1774 ?
No.
Does anyone know where I Can get my coins valued in London
I might have one,who do I sell it to.?
