The fact that "Medium format" is larger than "Full frame" makes sense once you consider that "Full frame" is also called "Small format". And yes, there is a "Large format".
@@AbzAden that's because they are names that come from different contexts. Small (35mm), medium and large format comes from film photography. In film you can easily manufacture huge sheets of film that are more expensive than smaller formats but they're still something you only use once. That's different to manufacturing a bigger sensor that's going to be wildly expensive. So with most digital cameras a few years ago, there was an aspiration to have affordable cameras with a sensor at least as big as the most common format in film which is 35, but most cameras had and still have smaller sensors. These smaller sensors then started to be called crop sensors in oposition to what they weren't which was 35mm and likewise this ideally "big" sensor was of course called full in opposition to those other formats that were "cropped".
Would be amazing if you guys did a "best affordable camera" in photography, video and both usecase category. Limiting the price at like $1000 (with lens). Most viewers don't really have $6000 to blow on a camera body.
Came here to make the same comment. Not many people in the market for $10,000 worth of camera. I know that shallow DoF has its appeal and that it is part of the reason that people get into medium format photography. But in my experience, shooting medium format is about much more than that. With my setup (Mamiya RB67 with only a 140mm f/4.5 lens), I usually don't get super shallow depth of field, even though the film area is literally twice the size of the GF100s sensor. But the qualities lie more in the rendering, the field of view one gets with that larger medium and the amount of light one can gather on such a large area. If I went digital at some point, one of these modern medium format systems (Fuji, Pentax, etc.) sure looks promising.
Brandon, with the Fuji GFX having a crop factor of .79, this 80mm f1.7 is the full frame equivalent of a 63mm f1.33. far off from the claim that their 2.8 lenses were similar to f1.4 lenses on full frame, they were more like f2.2 lenses.

Supports WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2 data transfer. A 32GB card will give you 140 RAW fully uncompressed photos. Sadly the type C does not support display out and is only a 3.2 1x1 connector. The only reason I want a gfx camera is so I can adapt my manual lenses to it, especially my Mamiya 80f1.9 and my Minolta 58f1.2 (which has a large enough image circle to cover this frame with no hard vignette)
Just fyi, you get a free (albeit sightly limited) version of Capture One with the purchase of a Fuji camera (just input your serial to activate, iirc). That's what the little C1 card is about).
They already had the 100/2 which is sharper and better AF so worth noting that this lens is only marginally faster but the DOF isn't as shallow and it has more longitudinal chromatic aberration which will affect most high contrast portraits quite badly.
Seeing Brandon talk about the shallow depth of field has made me wonder what he thinks of the way they used something similar (to an uneducated eye, of course) on that Army of the Dead movie.
Hello, can you make a video about old analog camera and how to print/process own films manually vs the new slr and their way to print the picture, thanks.

So Dreamy😍
Seeing Brandon talk about the shallow depth of field has made me wonder what he thinks of the way they used something similar (to an uneducated eye, of course) on that Army of the Dead movie.
Hello, can you make a video about old analog camera and how to print/process own films manually vs the new slr and their way to print the picture, thanks.
Description links are broken. Camera body link goes to the lens
Mini HDMI is a big rip... although what if they used thunderbolt?
As someone who doesn't even know all the camera settings on their iPhone, I have no idea what half this means! Great video though!
7:24 Brandon, as someone who does not know the ins and outs of cameras, I can't help but think this would be the perfect spot to put some B-roll footage of the examples you are giving about the Fuji system. Just some static shots of an image to show the difference between the two would go a long way and help the point you are making. Not calling you out, just a respectful suggestion.
Not Brandon's fault there. One, it's Short Circuit and they put bare minimum time into these videos. Two, that's the editors job anyway.
