  • The Incredible Hulk is one of the premiere attractions at Islands of Adventure, one of the three major theme parks at the Universal Orlando Resort. This roller coaster has gained quite the reputation over the years and continues to thrill millions and millions or riders each and every year! In this video, I discuss my thoughts on the roller coaster and whether or not I think it is the most intense roller coaster in the city of Orlando.

    • @shockwave402
      @shockwave402 4 года назад +14

Comcast doesn't own the rights to Thanos. The contract between Disney and Comcast is so stupid. Basically Comcast owns the park rights to *some* of the marvel characters east of the Mississippi river in perpetuity. But there's limits to what they can do with them. Like as far as I know, they can't update the theming of the rides, but only make safety upgrades...they can't make new rides based on the characters they own. That's why the spider-man ride looks so outdated, along with most of Universal's superhero area. I wish Disney would just make Comcast a ridiculous offer to buy the rights to the contract back.
We'll never get an avengers campus on the east coast until that happens. Most of the newer MCU characters are free to use by Disney, thus why we're able to get a GotG ride, and I've seen Black Panther merch in WDW stores.
The deal was made back in the 90s, so it's not like Disney could've known how popular these characters would've gotten. They didn't purchase Marvel until like...what...2009?

Nice too see they rebuilt it instead of scrapping it completely. Too bad about the roar though, I remember being able to hear it from the other side of the park. Honestly, i feel like the hulk does a pretty good job at telling its story without the awful gimmicks of the other rides, which is pretty special considering its age. This coaster is about as old as me (same month, actually). You get transformed into a hulk, then spin and crash into the water. You go into a brief rampage, swinging around on the cannon barrel, and continue. The gamma begins to wear off at the brake run, then you start to lose the violent energy, eventually you calm down as youre taken back to the lab.

I was scared to ride the Hulk for years but when I did, I rode it four times that day. That zero g roll feels incredible. What really surprised me though was how similar Hagrids feels. It has the speed and multiple launches and a surprising thrill factor, for a coaster that has no inversions.

  • @Ajguy

I feel like the Hulk is really popular, but still under appreciated with how slaptastic that layout is. Some sections of the ride feel like something you’d see on an Intamin blitz coaster, especially starting after the first loop up until the MCBR; I was NOT expecting that airtime pop in the transition after the upward helix, and I rode row 8 for my first go. The pacing is absolutely bonkers.

Great coaster. I rode it way back in 2001 (yikes 20 years ago!) and it was the first (and so far only) coaster that ever made me black out. It was on that first turn after the launch.
I noticed later that day I was coming down with a cold, so that might have been a factor, but man it was a good ride.

Looove the hulk! Especially when the ride shoots from the tunnel into the corkscrew and it’s most definitely faster at night. I wish there was more rides like this!

I still remember being 12 years old on holiday to Orlando from the UK. Riding the incredible Hulk was the big thing for the whole trip for me. Was definitely worth the anticipation. When I went back 4 years later it was just as good. It's really cool to see that the original has been recreated though because it's one of the best roller coasters I've had the pleasure of riding. I can't choose between The Incredible Hulk or Nemesis at Alton here in the UK as my all time favourite.

V1 hulk was a bit faster at the ending but it’s still a great ride. Back in the early days before metal detectors you could throw on some ear buds and rock out to music.
My best ride on it was when rain started to fall almost at the same time we launched so the ride didn’t have time to stop. We were front row and it was super cool seeing rain go up. Even tho the rain would sometimes feel like needles hitting you face it still made it a great experience.

Ah man, this ride was my childhood~ Memories include
-a long chain necklace almost flying off my head at the exit of the tube
-giant globs of nasty algae in the bubble tubes during the queue
-being convinced by my mom that it would be okay to ride it during a light drizzle, only to feel like we were getting pelted by small rocks, I couldn't even keep my eyes open
I honestly think I might enjoy the original story more, it was traditionally animated and showed lots of scenes of The Hulk being destructive while trying to save people and news broadcasts painting him in all sorts of lights according to the scenario. The whole Hero/Villain debate was running through the line, making you connect more to Bruce Banner and understand his risky decision of trying to reverse the effect only for The Hulk to overpower him, and you hear his fear and frustration just before you leave the tunnel was something that stuck with me. I'll have to ride it again after the pandemic to see the new story with my own eyes, but it really stuck with me through the years. That's the thing I've always enjoyed about Islands of Adventure over Disney or Universal Studios (I know technically they're considered the same thing, but Islands of Adventure just seemed to really put a lot of work into the story telling elements) is the fact that you really did feel immersed in what the area or story was trying to tell and they told them in really good ways~

Nailed it!!! This is a great review of a truly great coaster. With Universal being my home park for over a decade, I've ridden both versions of this ride many times. It seemed like forever when the ride was rebuilt in 2015. I have to agree that the only real problem I have with the ride is that mid course break run. I'm sure there's a reason for it, but I hate it. =) Well... that and the placement for the photo being at the end during the calmest part of the ride. They are missing an awesome opportunity for some funny pics if placed at the launch. The pics are generally of people sitting there smiling. Lame!
The amazing thing about this coaster is that even though the train launches out over the crowd in a roar for all to see and hear, it still somehow surprises first time riders when that lift hill turns into an intense launch out into the open air zero G roll. I've taken so many people on this ride for their first ride. It's the best!
Good stuff Ryan! Let's see Intimidator 305 next!!
I think I may head to Carowinds for the first time tonight or tomorrow having to head to N Carolina for business. This vid has me psyched up to go on Fury 325!!!!

I've ridden old and new Hulk and it's still just as awesome. The quieter roar doesn't impact the ride experience but does make it nicer for people walking right below the ride on their way to marvel Island to be able to still have a conversation 😂 (part of me misses the concert-like deafness though)
I do wish they had added more air circulation to the queue though. Idk what it is about that queue but it can just get unbearably stuffy. My fiance passed right after the cobra roll once (i still laugh at him about it) and we're going pretty sure its due to a combination of him not drinking enough water throughout the day (we've since learned our lesson) and that queue just being the final straw in dehydrating him.

This was one of the first B and Ms I ever saw. I didn’t ride it though because I was still new to inversions. The roar as it goes through the layout compliments it perfectly. I thought the same thing when I saw Great Bear several months before. Another coaster I saw but didn’t ride. This was the old version by the way. I haven’t been to Universal in years.

The Hulk seems to have aged like a 1967 Camaro. Timeless, amazing-looking, and a crowd favorite in its class. Given that they decided to give that old "Camaro" its same engine, same seats, and wheels, the analogy seemed appropriate! What's just about as good as an original classic? The same car that's restored. It ain't gonna be exactly the same, but it's just as cool!

Love this ride, but wouldn’t be awesome if the final portion after the corkscrew was inside? It could make the last few turns and second corkscrew more intense with some strobe lighting, and could also expand the entire story.
