Still, you'll get side eyes from people (mostly older generation) in attendance. • In the past, 24 buffalos is a sign of high social status, nowadays people just make it into competition to show their money off. It sickens me to the stomach to what have become of our precious tradition. • One healthy male buffalo could afford you a darn good expensive motorbike or a car, times 24 you could build a luxurious house. • The most expensive and (considered) most valuable gift of animal you could give to the deceased is a buffalo called Tedong Bonga, an albino buffalo which can go up to 1̶ ̶t̶r̶i̶l̶l̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶R̶u̶p̶i̶a̶h̶,̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶'̶s̶ ̶a̶r̶o̶u̶n̶d̶ ̶6̶5̶-̶6̶7̶ ̶m̶i̶l̶l̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶U̶S̶D̶ 1 billion Rupiah = about 66 thousands USD. Yes, we do eat all the animals. It's for the whole vilage and the guests that attend the funeral. We also ferment the meat (if there's too much left) which will be able to sustain us for weeks/months after, nothing is wasted.

These animals live great lives in the outdoors and are humanely killed by cutting the artery in the neck and then feed the whole village. You prolly eat fast food where millions of animals are stuffed into tiny cages to maximize weight and be miserable until slaughtered. The conditions are so horrendous that we have to constantly inject them with anti-biotics so they don;t drop dead.
Funny thing is that female animals produce more product than males and you technically need only one male per harem of females in order to breed. So I wonder if the use of male animals as sacrifice is more about using animals that are redundant.
I understand it's culture, but I feel bad for the animals :( But this ritual is incredibly interesting and the way they think about death in that way. it is very interesting.
I wonder if you ever get worried that you're ever going to get like ambushed or hurt on your journeys to these tribes that you seek out like at awesome checking out the culture and seeing how they do things and how they live but you have to be scared of a couple things in the back of your mind

Also we: "Let's kill all the food whenever one of us dies."
They eat all of it. And they're not starving and poor.

My mom told me this story, so she went to her dad's and her parents were divorced. She went to her dad's. And the people that were living across from her were sacrificing a pig and eating it. And she cried and cried, and her dad couldn't do anything about it. And this is really sad for me. Because my favorite animal is pig.
Someone has to say it: This is just ridiculous.
Does anyone know what happens to the dead roosters and buffalo? It shows them eating the pigs. Do they also eat the other sacrificial animals?
Yes, we do eat all the animals. It's for the whole vilage and the guests that attend the funeral. We talk about hundreds and hundreds of people that come each day during the course of few days the funeral is held. We also ferment the meat (if there's too much left) which will be able to sustain us for weeks/months after, nothing is wasted.

i Grew up in Southern California. Primarily out of main city in a Place called Perris California. But i Grew up around a Very Traditional Mexican Family and thats how they would Kill goat's for the Feast. experienced this at about age 7.
This would make a great animated movie like maybe a girl waking up in a defferent realm by the world shaking walking and meeting up with new animals going through like caves in shit seeing memories of the her past life and towards the end u see her death she must fight and win against it to move on then she reunites with family and tribe members and boom movie ends
That's nuts and a huge waste of food
Man water bafoloo is going to be extinct
I’m cryingggg poor pigg
This is gruesome
Geez, it's not like they're decimating entire populations of animals for their ritual-funerals.
Let them live their culture, of course it appears strange and maybe even sadistic to the western eye but hey, those people have their traditions and their rites.
Not every culture has yet fallen...
He didn’t say they couldn’t he just said it’s sad to him
@@pipersee6648I think this comment was made with regard for other comments claiming the animal sacrifices are unnecessary or unethical
@@paulallenscards I think they are. And wtf 24 buffalos?? Wtf
@Andrias Jabs In most culture's the sacrifices aren't eaten because then it takes away the significance of giving up what you have and you're just using it. Idk if they will eat it, hopefully
@@Matteo-1it's not about eating or not, they will be eaten
It's about the act itself, cuz murdering animals in public in front of children and other animals is unhinged af
Yes I like the screams of suffering 🤗
it's not...
I remember i was at one of these when i was younger but i was behind a door so i wouldnt get scared and had to get carried on my dads back when we left cuz there was blood everywhere. Do not necessarily recommend to younger ppl lmao
This guy sounds like he's doing a zack baggans impression when he narrates
What do they do with the remains of the animals?
Nothing left to waste, they cooked it to eat with the families or share it to other people/village
I’m sad for the animals but they sacrificed them self’s..😭😭😭
Nice traditions.
In the US they eat 24 hams at a REPASSS because death makes the appetite increase 😮
Good point
Nah that’s just wrong man

Filipinos seeing the Buffalo getting tortured 😢( *Buffalos are a Philippine national animal* )
That is, that is so sad I don’t not know why they do that😢😢😢😢
The Bible tells us that when a living soul (us) die, the spirit of life goes back to God who gave it and what remain will stay in the tomb unt[l you turn to dust, that is your journey.
Look at that pig, knows excatly what is going to happen. Sad that these animals are so smart and we on the west are treating them worse than objects.
I feel so bad
Couldnt they atleast do it more humanely 😢😢
I know it's a different culture and all but it still hurts watching this. I know some will say it's no worse than the farms/factories here but I don't think that's a fair argument. I obviously don't agree with how it is here either.
Some people are to sensitive in the comments
Who was she to get such a large sacrifice??
Its kinda sad. But it's their culture. Also I have a question... did they just tie the bull to the ground to watch it die?
How do they sustain an entire village with food if they kill entire herds of animals whenever someone dies. I’m really confused. Could someone explain.
human nature at it's best
Some people need to rethink their cultures and make changes

@@lesliepolar get rid of some cultures

These animals live great lives in the outdoors and are humanely killed by cutting the artery in the neck and then feed the whole village. You prolly eat fast food where millions of animals are stuffed into tiny cages to maximize weight and be miserable until slaughtered. The conditions are so horrendous that we have to constantly inject them with anti-biotics so they don;t drop dead.
This is horrible... These type of people are crazy this is not normal and people shouldn't normalize it

Funny thing is that female animals produce more product than males and you technically need only one male per harem of females in order to breed. So I wonder if the use of male animals as sacrifice is more about using animals that are redundant.
It’s ok to say some rituals are dumb. Regardless of how old.
pretty normal to me,I live in a country where these happen all the time for cultural purposes of course
What we spend on coffins and plots and undertakers they spend on life
I understand it's culture, but I feel bad for the animals :( But this ritual is incredibly interesting and the way they think about death in that way. it is very interesting.
this is no different that the meat you eat for dinner
@@Aj-sn1dp yes I understand, I also feel bad for the animals who get slaughtered for meat although I eat it.
I am sad I’m crying
Do they eat the animals at least? If not that's pretty messed up
Yeah the whole village will feast on it. Everyone get their share
I will never understand the logic of how people come up with these really bizarre religious practices that have been done throughout history
The afterlife is basically Moana.
I wonder if you ever get worried that you're ever going to get like ambushed or hurt on your journeys to these tribes that you seek out like at awesome checking out the culture and seeing how they do things and how they live but you have to be scared of a couple things in the back of your mind
I love the life you live. It's truly amazing to watch
Do they eat them after? That seems like a huge waste of food
im kind of use to this. looking into hmong culture and its religion is fairly similar to what is happening here
