I am a fairly recent arrival in the area of cake making & decorating etc but I have to say, this lady is far and away the best tutor on all of youtube. The recipes, presentation and information is all so easy to follow and understand. I'm told I've come a long way in a short time and I say it's all thanks to Cookies Cupcakes & Cardio. Please keep up the excellent work !! I also love that you obviously have fun and love what you do. You are a fantastic inspiration :)
Cookies Cupcakes and Cardio ilove watching your video..steps are too easy to follow. i love baking but the problem is i dont have any materials or. equipment to use.i just borrowed those from my neighbor..even shes telling me i am so much annoying.. i just want to ask favor from you..can give me those old equipment and materials you have..
Yes, I use salted butter. I always let the butter come to room temperature before using it in cakes. If you need to bake them a day a head of time, find sealed containers to keep them in.
this video was great I'm 13 but I want to be a baker and I don't really know much about making stuff by scratch but this helped and I made one today and it was amazing
@@advaitasoma9593 it's a small amount of milk, so there's not much too worry about. Normally, buttercream lasts around 1-2 weeks in the fridge for me though. The small amount of milk is stabilized by the colossal amount of sugar, so you don't need to worry much. But you may use water or more vanilla extract to thin it instead :) xx
Oh, my goodness! Just finished making this, and it has to be the easiest vanilla buttercream ever. Absolutely perfect consistency and taste. I put just a bit of salt in mine because I like the contrast to the sweetness, and I always used unsalted butter in baking. Thank you so much!
Hey Jen! Just want you to know that even 8 years later, your videos are still inspiring new bakers! I just got a stand mixer and we're making this cake tonight!! :D
Thank you very much for showing how to make a homemade cake. I have done your recipe two or three and each time they have been awesome. Thank you, I couldn't have done it without you.
I had to this is frosting twice because I used 4teaspoons instead of 4tablespoons pf milk. I also made the vanilla cake and it is YUMMY!! A MUST TRY. THANKS FOR SHARING :)
I've always wanted to try this kind of buttercream, but all the recipes I found were with cups and spoons. And here you've translated it into grams and milliliters, thank you!
Made everything: the cake, filling, icing from the 3 videos, ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I got so...................many compliments. I felt good cause this was only about the 4th cake I've made in my young lifespan, & housewives more than 2x my age were complimenting me. 1 even said I made a better cake than her (of course I shared the link) Thanx Jen :D
I am trying this right now and the cake batter came out a little runny not sure why.. I followed instructions and then I tried the butter cream frosting and it's super runny! I kept adding more powdered sugar to see if it would thicken but it didn't. so I'm going to let it sit in the fridge for awhile see if it gets a little stiff like yours. The cake came out pretty good though! although it was not as thick as yours. I usually make cakes from boxes but I wanted to make a homemade one this time. Thanks for sharing your recipe though! I am going to keep practicing! :)
I see this question appearing often, en no one seem to care answering it, I want to know the answer too. How much buttercream icing does the recipe make? Please care to answer this question first instead of the dozen dumb question about the sugar you can google. Thanks
It makes about 3 1/2 cups. You will always end up with around the amount of finished product that's equivalent the the amount of ingredients you put in. E.g. she used 3 cups of powered sugar and a half a cup of butter with some milk, so if you add the amounts she used together you end up with 3 1/2 cups. :) hope this helps!
Omg thank you sooo much.. I have tried so many buttercream recipes online but never got to make the right consistency buttercream, always runny or it turns it to a butter drink...But thanks to your recipe I made actually buttercream Ive always dreamed of making for the first time. THANK YOU HEAPS
i have been watching this over and over and cant seem to understand why mine doesny come as fluffy. i believe its because she sais she uses 1/2 cup of butter yet it almost seems like she uses one whole cup. did anyone notice.
Kristy ScrapTime you're totally right, on the video she is using a full cup of butter. who would dare to do half cup butter ratio for 3 cups of icing sugar? with the full cup of butter most be extremely sweet already...
Yeah I have the same problem and the vanilla cake recipe is no good either in my opinion it doesn't taste like cake ... why doesn't person in the video reply to our comments and explain
Amanda Sailsbury With most baking, if the recipe does not indicate salted or unsalted, use unsalted butter. This is because you will then be able to control the amount of salt, especially if a recipe indicates the amount of salt that should be used.
Your video literally saved my life!! 1/22 is my son's bday and I totally forgot to purchase a birthday cake, luckily I have everything at home to make this cake! THANK YOU!!!!!
It will depend on how much buttercream you want to put on the top of the cupcakes...if you just want a thin layer, I'd keep it the same, but I'd recommend you double it to get the affect of the camo buttercream on the tops.
Hi, i made the recipe of all your 3 videos for Christmas dinner in my Grandmas house and I am very very happy with the result it helped me much more than with other instructions, I will send you a picture. I am a colombian 11 year old girl and I love to bake, I have been subscribed like for about 1 and a half years and you at such an inspiration for me and I hope many other people think that so thank u very much
Thank you for sharing. You make it so doable. I like the idea of making the cake from scratch the frosting from simple real food ingredients. I will be making my granddaughter's birthday cake after eating an in -store cake that was horrible and embarrassing.
I tried this for the first time today. It was so easy to work with, very rich and smooth, and I found that a little bit went a long way. It's just like the icing that comes on wedding cakes and fancy cupcakes from adorable bakeries. I also liked having so much control over the texture of the icing; it was easy to adjust it when I made it a little too runny at first.
looks so tasty.....mouthwatering....gonna definitely try it...thanks for putting it up on youtube..you made the steps easy to follow...cant wait to try it
It is more white than with the extract, but the butter still colours the icing. If you want white buttercream, try clear vanilla, and/or white colouring.
I love all of your videos and I love it when you did the pizza challenge but most of all I love it when you make videos of baking and I like it that you put the list of ingredients after you say it so if the person didn't hear you or have time to get all of the ingredients then can get it thank you for all of your inspiration I love you
I enjoyed all of your baking recipes for this cake, Thank you very much! I think my Friend will enjoy this for she and her Hubby's July BD's!!!! It will be a surprise for them!
Sometimes on hot summer days, bakers replace 1/4 cup of butter with 1/4 cup of shortening. The shortening helps is stay solid and fight off melting! Good luck!
Yes you can double/triple the recipe very easily and yes it can be used under fondant. If your cake is cooled and your buttercream is thick, you should not have any problems with the buttercream staying on the cake.
I love your videos especially this one thanks for sharing i looked at so many videos on how to make buttercream icing and i found yours and its the easiest recipe
At this moment right now im baking the cake from your video thats related to this one! And gonna make the frosting soon too! Thank you so much for all of this, i thought I wouldn't have all the ingridients! :))))))))

Hope this helps; In Canada , they call it ICING SUGAR... in the US, we call it POWDERED SUGAR. ♥
MrseBay Thank you so much for that.I looked everywhere to find out if i could use powdered sugar!!!
MrseBay Here in the south US, we call it Confectioners Sugar. :)
+Roxanna Salv it the same gj9m
I called it daddies sugar😂😂
MrseBay omg thx I was thinking isn't it called powder sugar 😂 thx a lot
I tried this receipe out and it was awesome! It was also my first cake ever thank you!😊

Yes, I use salted butter. I always let the butter come to room temperature before using it in cakes. If you need to bake them a day a head of time, find sealed containers to keep them in.

same...13 year old wanting to be a baker
me too I want to make my own birthday cake for my 13th birthday next week.
Alicia Sharma congrats
I always keep my cakes in the fridge and remove them shortly before slicing.
How long till the cake and frosting expire? Since the frosting has milk in it.
@@advaitasoma9593 it's a small amount of milk, so there's not much too worry about. Normally, buttercream lasts around 1-2 weeks in the fridge for me though. +Cookies Cupcakes and Cardio do u need a hand or stand mixer for this or can u use hands?
Me too
hi.. Isn't too sweet because of icing sugar
Hey Jen! Just want you to know that even 8 years later, your videos are still inspiring new bakers! I just got a stand mixer and we're making this cake tonight!! :D
Same !! Haha!! I got a standmixer for Christmas and I love it!
omg this frosting is delicious thank you for sharing
Thank you very much for showing how to make a homemade cake. I have done your recipe two or three and each time they have been awesome. Thank you, I couldn't have done it without you.
Yes, just make sure it is in a sealed container. I always take mine out a couple hours before I need to work with it as well.
I made this buttercream but instead of vanilla I added peppermint extract and it came out great! Thanks so much for posting up this recipe 😁
Thank you Jenn, this recipe is really helpful!!❤️😃
I had to this is frosting twice because I used 4teaspoons instead of 4tablespoons pf milk. I also made the vanilla cake and it is YUMMY!! A MUST TRY. THANKS FOR SHARING :)

your 1/2 cup looks like a square as well? hmmm ok then maybe im doing something else wrong. not sure
Kristy ScrapTime you're totally right, on the video she is using a full cup of butter. who would dare to do half cup butter ratio for 3 cups of icing sugar? with the full cup of butter most be extremely sweet already...
Has anybody figured it out. Because mine is not like the one on the video. I put it in the fridge so hopefully it thickens.
Yeah I have the same problem and the vanilla cake recipe is no good either in my opinion it doesn't taste like cake ... why doesn't person in the video reply to our comments and explain
Love this recipe! I always come back to it! Thank you and sending love from Sacramento CA 💕👍🏾
Does it need to unsalted butter or does it not matter?
Amanda Sailsbury IMO it doesn't matter...I buy whatever is on sale.
Cookies Cupcakes and Cardio I made it for my husband's birthday. We haven't tried it yet but I cannot wait! Thanks for replying.
Amanda Sailsbury With most baking, if the recipe does not indicate salted or unsalted, use unsalted butter. This is because you will then be able to control the amount of salt, especially if a recipe indicates the amount of salt that should be used.

Just love your ideas on making all goodies thank you
I find it to be extremely sweet, so i didn't know you can add some cream cheese to make it less sweeter couple of table spoons. Thank you for sharing.
Confectioner sugar or sifted powdered sugar is an alternative. You can use regular white sugar but you have to blend it to become a powdered sugar.
Yes, for flavour.
Personally, I had used salted butter. Again, it tasted DELISHHHH!!!
Ang same i didnt have unsalted
This is the best buttercream I've ever made !!!

if there was no you there would be no me..... that's how I feel with these videos THANK YOU SWEET LADY THANK YOU
I've been watching your videos for forever and love them and you!
Basically you would need to add more butter and less icing sugar...you'd have to find the balance between in order to find the proper consistency.
It turned out delicious my family loved it thanks for this yummy recipe
I love your videos I hope to be a baker when I'm older!
i just made this cake to take to my teachers and before this one i made another cake that sucked and the hole thing fell apart but with this one everything stayed together and it ended great. i added a chocolate strawberry and chocolate leaf on top and it looks so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you so much i'm subscribing and liking for definite!!!
