I cite my sources and they may differ than other people's accounts, so I don't guarantee the actual accuracy of my videos.
Stone Temple Pilots and Alice In Chains were my two favorites from this era.
I think they epitomize the decade.
mine too and soundgarden and they are all three gone. so many great singers lost but never forgotten
@@franklinloll2229 Agreed.
@@s.f.morris7331 Crap you’re right all singers gone.
AIC is definitely my favorite of the big four Grunge bands.
STP and Pearl Jam sound absolutely nothing alike.
scotts voice can at some points sound like eddie vedder but thats it. on the other albums his voice is nothing alike vedders
STP is much more of a rock band, PJ is very much an alt rock. Of course in the current era its all just called rock.
@@manhalen7046 dean smokes both pearls guitarists on musical knowledge and technical ability alone
@@deadshot4245 He's incredibly creative thats for sure. I'm not at all a PJ fan though, never have been since seeing them first on MTV. Talented? Oh for sure, incredibly so, but theyre just not my.........jam?
@@deadshot4245 Dean has some great chord choices but he can't solo like McCready
The worst part of this whole thing is STP sounded like nobody else and continued to create totally unique music. They gotta a lot hate early on for no reason whatsoever.
Pear jam created that hate
Zeppelin got it too
Was fortunate enough to see them before Scott Weiland passed. They were incredible live. Easily one of the best bands I’ve ever seen live.
Definitely. I saw them probably around 10 times overall and would never miss a show if it was within a reasonable driving distance. They were always flawless on stage, even after they were on hiatus for years. The DeLeo brothers never missed a note and Scott always BROUGHT IT. His energy was unreal.
@@LeviBulgerI love STP. They were my favorite band of all time, and living in Hershey, PA, I finally had a chance to see them when they came here a year or two before Scotts death. Unfortunately, I couldnt get off of work the next day, so I missed out, which I regretted for YEARS.
That being said, in watching some of Scotts performances on here, especially near the end, I thought he sounded terrible on stage, and looked under the influence during many of his concerts, which made me feel that I was glad I didnt see STP, if I was going to see a shell of Scott Weiland. Id rather remember STP and Scott when they were GREAT. Maybe that makes no sense, idk.
My question to you as an obviously big fan, is this. Putting your love for STP and Scott aside, did you see him or them perform near 2015, and if you did, were his performances really that great in terms of the quality of his voice and his performance? Because the show I saw on here with his new band in 2015 was just awful, and frankly, sad. You could even see nine tenths of the crowd was still and not cheering as they normally would for such a huge star playing for them.
Id appreciate your honest feedback. Best wishes.
Same here. Dunkin donuts ctr providence matinee show. They were supporting their double greatest hits album. Awesome show. As my brother said we got a regular set and an acoustic. I remember he came out apologizing like sorry our opening act stunk. I believe it was trapt opening for them.
Same here. 2001. It was an incredible show.
@@chocolatetownforever7537his vocal performance varied wildly throughout their career. I used to have a DVD/CD box set and the festival performances on the video were either terrible or amazing. Not sure if it was the drugs but the more strung out and skinny he appeared the worse it seemed. I saw them in 01 or 02 and was lucky enough to catch him in the pocket.
Love STP and all the other bands of the era. Anyone who said they were derivative weren't listening to the music or these bands.
It’s really only based on “Plush”…with Scott’s Vedder esque vocal delivery on it. Once songs like “Interstate Love Song” and “Sour Girl” came about over the years people were shut up.
THANK YOU! I will listen to STP, but you can’t get me to listen to Pearl Jam’s silly, shrieking, dumb songs. Horrible.
@@Bat_Boy First 5 STP albums are very good. My personal favorite is Purple, but Tiny Music is a close second. Every album has a different vibe as well. If you like velvet revolver check out #4 by STP.
Oh yeah…
That whole “I don’t care about you…or anyone or anything” mentality is SOOOOOOOO original.
🙄
They literally boasted about how much they didn’t care.
@@Bat_Boy I agree. They’re called Pearl Scam. STP WERE A ONE OFF, with one of the greatest front men ever. I personally don’t know why anyone would care what these mullet wearing wannabes would think anyhow. Tiny Music and No 4 are by far the best albums start to finish. But Purple holds a special place in my heart.
I believe that I’m in the minority but I love STP more then Pearl Jam.
I like STP more, too. "Tiny Music" is a perfect album, "Purple" is practically a greatest hits. I hate "Plush" but I love "Core" - I can't say the same for "Ten," I hate "Black," "Alive," "Jeremy" and I hate the record also lol it sounds so dated now... unlike "Vs." and "Vitalogy," these sound great.
You’re not
Same!
Unpopular opinion but Pearl Jam is lame af
The production might sound dated, but the songs still sound just as good now. Both bands released some great albums over the years.
AIC and STP are top tier. Layne and scott are such hero’s for me in the vocal world that’s what made those bands. the vocals. such beautiful souls.
💯
100% agree
so true bestie
100%
I think the musicians of STP are far underrated!! The guitarist is on another level, the bassist is very technical and thumping awesome bass riffs hit heavy. The drummer smashes those drums with emotion and on point any show I watched live. They were always so loud and on point, Weiland is a huge legend and is missed so much!! There will never be another, James Gunn seems to be fitting the spot and doing justice as long as he doesn't try to be Scott too much, the legend of the band will continue on
Imagine being named “the butthole surfers” and having the nerve to throw shade 💀
STP still doesn't get enough credit and are one of the most underrated bands in history.
If a person can’t tell the difference between PJ and STP they just need to stop listening to music.
Not. They are not underrated by any means. Their drug adiction got between them and they became shitty people nobody wated arround.
@@jorgeconj We’re talking about their music.
@@davidduval8681right?!? I mean I don’t see it at all. This video just made me remember how much I fucking loved STP!! Looks like I’m going down the rabbit hole now!!
Interstate Love Song is a classic. And this is coming from an 80s rock guy
Scott Weilend was an incredible front man. And like a lot of brilliant frontmen his addictions and demons got the best of him, but derivative he was not.
100x better performer than Vedder
@@99Maddux 💯
Growing up in the early-to-mid 2000s you couldn't go anywhere and not hear Velvet Revolver at a mall or a department store like Sears (RIP), and subconsciously I was captivated by Scott's voice. Scott was a true one of a kind voice with STP and VR, that will never be replicated..... Rest In Peace Scott Weiland
Stone Temple Pilots don't sound anything like Pearl Jam, and I think VR's songs were better when Weiland was in charge.
It was a joke poking fun at both bands.
@@daBEAGLE1017 STP the first and second albums are no joke
@@Vor_Tex_Sun tiny music is awesome too. Big bang baby might be my #2 to plush.
Scott was a amazing frontman and sounded amazing doing it. I think he sounded better live and very few frontman did. STP songs are amazing and the DeLeo’s are great underrated.
Alice will always be my favorite, but STP was always my favorite in high school. And still love them 🤍
STP sounds like STP. They made great music and it was unique. Weiland has a very unique voice and is actually very talented vocally. Pure hate here.
Meh, so what you will about STP. The Deleo brothers are incredible songwriters!!! This band has more catchy songs than Pearl Jam ever did. They can interweave rock pop metal with sophisticated chords and catchy melodies. They've got a good dozen songs that are radio friendly and rock and are super catchy. To me this is one of the best rock bands out of the '90s.
true statement.. hell.. i even dug there side project album back in 97. "talk show"
There's so few remaining front-men from the "Grunge" era. RIP, Cobain, Staley, Weiland, Cornell. And while Chester Bennington is most famous for Linkin Park, not a grunge band, he did replace Weiland with STP, a grunge band, and sadly like his predecessor Bennington is also gone. Like damn. This has to be the genre with the highest mortality rate for singers.
Don't forget Mark Lanegan of the Screaming Trees and Ben McMillan of Skin Yard.
For a young kid watching them on MTV’s unplugged I was taken by Scott’s stage presence. They were one of the reasons I became a vocalist and without them maybe I would’ve never got on stage. It really was a shame he never found a way out. Because there would’ve been no limit to what they could’ve accomplished with a solid Scott Weiland.
100%!! My first crush ever Scott Weiland on Unplugged. I was mesmerized by him.
One of the best frontmen
My favorite band of all time.
It's more than just how good the band was. It's about reflecting on a simpler time in life in general, when this music was taking over and there was real talent on the radio.
90s music was fire.
I was in Hawaii in my 20s and had new CDs from Smashing Pumpkins, AIC, Pearl Jam and STP.
Man how spoiled was I?
@@TheAgentAssassin those really were the days man
I saw them when they were on tour for their first record. I think it was 1993. They were amazing and very energetic live. It was one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen.
Scott was well known as his own worst enemy but since his death has become more beloved by the day. The talent and the music live on while all else fades away into time.
I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Scott Weiland in Velvet Revolver. I saw them during Contraband and had assumed he was sober, maybe he was or wasn’t, but it was awesome. RIP
There was a period that he was at least a functioning addict, it was a gamble... but it was a torment to see that guy full of talent and charisma wasted and not try to gamble by working with him.
me too....saw Revolver live and really like all of Scotts different band'd music......I thought Scott was a great lead...
Just notice how frail he was with VR. Same thing with Layne.
@@barryjackson1401 One of the best front men to ever live. That dude was entertainment.
@@danielspicer2359 I liked Layne too.
I saw STP open for Aerosmith in early ‘00’s and was totally blown away. Weiland is severely underrated as a frontman
I don’t know why STP were being called out for sounding like Pearl Jam. When I get deeper into rock and got into a lot of these bands.. never once did i think STP were like PJ. Scott had his own voice just like Eddie completely different. Love both groups
Agreed! Only person I've ever thought sounded like they were trying to be Eddie Vedder is Scott Stapp from Creed. I do not see the comparison between Scott Weiland and Eddie at all, two very different singers with two very different stage presences.
The comments are from those that are tone def and only from people that are "music blind"... they only see a single shade of red. They don't understand that grunge has so many different shades of red and that each singer has their own unique signature color that cannot be officially replicated.
@@Techno92944 yes..so agree! Especially Eddie..he has such a sound to his voice..no one could ever sound like him
I can't believe people actually call it Grunge now and it's excepted. Back in the 90's only posers called it Grunge. It was labeled Grunge by the media and even the bands laughed at people that called it Grunge. Those bands hated being called Grunge.
It’s just a dumb SNL joke. Not to be taken seriously.
I never thought STP was a rip off of Pearl Jam. It was the era, and a lot of bands had that grunge rock sound.
I am sure Scott’s addiction led to the demise of both bands. STP is a great band, and one of my favorites. I was heartbroken over Scott’s death, although I was not surprised. I feel bad for his family, it was a greater loss to the kids than it was us.
The 90’s was a very special time in my life as a young man.
People poop all over STP, but it was mostly Scott and his ego and substance abuse issues. The band itself was FANTASTIC! Their 1st 3 albums are as good as any 3 from any 90's rock group. Core was especially great, one of the best of all time, IMO. I can put that one on and never need to skip any songs, even the instrumentals.
As far as them sounding like other bands, they sounded like STP. It's rock music. A lot of it's gonna sound similar. I also have respect because all members of the band came up with great songs, even the drummer Kretz.
My favorite band from the 90's..
From the music to Scott and his lyrics and voice
Just a beautiful mixture that comes along few, far and in-between..
Rest easy , Scott
I'm sad to this day that Scott couldn't overcome his addiction. He would still be making beautiful music. An incredible voice and frontman of that era.
Anyone who thinks stone temple pilots ripped off Pearl Jam has never listened to more than 3 of their songs….
i listened to both pj and stp since the 90's and at no point did those 2 bands ever sound the same to me.
Merry Christmas everyone
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas....STP Rocks On!!!!
Scott Weiland was a excellent songwriter I love his cryptic lyrics
The last time I saw STP was in 1995 at Lakewood amphitheater in Atlanta. Outstanding performance. RIP Scott. You are a legend.
One thing that people forget is that Core and Ten had the same producer: Brendan O'Brien, which is why there were similarities of the sound. STP released early demos in 1990 when they were called Mighty Joe Young so they were doing their thing before PJ even formed as Mookie Blaylock.
If STP had released Core in 1991 and .PJ released Ten in 1992...PJ would have received the hate.
I thought it was mother love bone - they were the first of the "seattle sound " to be signed to a major label and then their singer died from O/D - and the remaining members formed Pearl Jam when they got Vedder as singer
@@pjpredhomme7699 Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, and Mike McCready were the original members of Mother Love Bone with Andrew Wood, but when he died, they hired Ed...the new band was called Mookie Blaylock and they later changed it to Pearl Jam.
My point is that STP was writing their own music in 1990 in LA before they ever met Brendan O'Brien..which proves STP didn't steal Pearl Jam's sound. Dean Deleo has spoke about the many musicians that influenced their sound and style..so you can see how the STP sound was formed from bands like Zeppelin, Van Halen, Jerry Reed, Alan Holdsworth, The Doors, etc...
They never ripped off Pearl Jam. I can see the similarities with the singing growl of Scott and Ed, but I don't think that was intentional...it's just similar. It's like Billy Idol sounds similar to Jim Morrison, but Idol never tried to copy him or his style...it's just a coincidence.
@@pjpredhomme7699 Actually Soundgarden got the major label record deal first and only Ament and Gossard were in Mother Love Bone.
@@rocketeightyseven1823 Mike McCready wasn't in Mother Love Bone.
@@LegendoftheDragonSword You’re right.
Stp is one of those bands you can't help but sing along to. One of my favorites.
I still listen to STP and Pearl Jam and they still sound nothing alike.
STP is my favorite band of all time!! Listen to the albums they are so diverse and awesome!!
It's true that STP's first album is very derivative of the Seattle sound at the time (they were sometimes referred to as Stone Temple Pearl Jams) but so were a lot of bands at that time. STP moved beyond that "Seattle sound & found their own unique style with their second album onwards which is the stuff I liked the most.
A lot of people either forget or never realized that the "Seattle sound", as it was known, wasn't found only in Seattle... the media sure made it seem like was unique to the region though.
Only Plush sounds like Pearl Jam. The rest of it does not at all.
One of the best bands I saw live (Weiland years). Second most seen band.
STP is still making great music and touring with their new singer, Jeff Gutt. I really dig the last two albums from 2018 and 2020.
I’m stoked to catch them live..
never seen Scott & I figure I’d go see the Deleos even if they were just going to bang on pots & pans for two hours!
I swear, Jeff is a freaking miracle man. Dude somehow is the perfect blend between Scott and Chester. Butterfly and Perdida are as good as anything they did with Scott.
Butterfly is an awesome record & so is the EP with Chester.
Can listen to STP all day, PJ for about 5mins...
When I was a kid I definitely remember confusing STP songs with Pearl Jam because Weiland’s voice did sound a little like Eddie’s, at least for Core. But as I grew older I delved deeper into STP rather than Pearl Jam and looking back, STP’s albums have stood the test of time in a better way than Pearl Jam’s. It saddens me deeply that Scott could never overcome his demons. It seems he was a good guy with a lot of psychological baggage.
As a Seattle Girl- I never viewed STP as “Grunge”. Scott had an amazing vocal range and had a sound that I never viewed as that “Seattle” sound personally. And, I preferred STP.
STP are from my hometown. originally they were called Mighty Joe Young. In those early days nobody pointed the finger at them as copycats. The only similarity I see with Pearl Jam is that Scott does some yarling, but in that era everyone started yarling. It was when they made it big that the hate started. It was Jealousy, that a mediocre band that hadn’t really paid any dues was suddenly big.
I think it's a shame their song, Only Dying, was never released on an album or as a single. Every time I hear it Scott's voice gives me chills. Just an incredible song.
If the release dates of Ten and Core wee swapped...PJ would have received the hate. I think STP has a much better catalog. After Yield...every PJ album sounds exactly the same and I freaking loved Ten and Vs, but I have to say...STP was the better band in my opinion.
@@rocketeightyseven1823 I don’t know that either band holds up that well. They were just commercial enough for their time to break through, but the songwriting wasn’t as strong as some of their contemporaries like AIC and Nirvana.
@@elosoguapo8137 I think Purple has held up the best of STP’s albums.
@@elosoguapo8137 I think almost all bands suffer from nostalgia over taking the credibility of a songs merit.
Take Lithim from Nirvana. The entire course is Cobain just screaming, “Yeah…aaaah…hhh.”
I mean they definitely made their impact, but even Nevermind had its weak moments. AIC’s Facelift had a few weak moments.
I always cringe when I hear the end of Facelift, with Layne saying, “Sexual chocolate baby!” I’m like, “No Layne…no! That’s cheesy!” LOL
That first Velvet Revolver album was the best music any of those guys ever made.
You could argue that Scott’s vocals on Core sounded like Eddie but by Purple you just can’t hold that position.
And Tiny Music and 4 cemented STP as genuine rock n roll royalty.
Of course Dean and Robert already had their very original sound, songwriting and creative chord patterns down pat on Core.
Really any rock musician would be proud to produce anything close to STP’s discography!
I think Plush was really the only song I thought they sounded like Pearl Jam on. Other than that, completely different bands. Had the luxury of seeing both bands back in the early 90s, including seeing STP with the Butthole Surfers. Also got to see Scott with Velvet Revolver twice. He was an amazing talent that just couldn't shake his demons.
STP was one of my favorite bands in the 90's. I preferred STP over Pearl Jam.
I saw STP in 1993 at the PNE Aquastage in Vancouver BC when they were touring with the Butthole Surfers. The opening band was Firehose but they were really late because they had trouble getting through the Canadian border. As the waiting crowd got restless Scott came on stage and asked if anyone in the audience could sing or play an instrument. From volunteers in the crowd he collected a singer, lead and base guitarists and a drummer. The "band" played terrible but hilarious for about 15 minutes and the crowd loved it. Firehose finally showed up and the concert started. RIP Scott. The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long.
Scott Weiland could out-sing Eddie Vedder any day of the week. STP’s music was more exciting than Pearljam’s too.
Ironically, Chester Bennington and Scott got along very well before and after Chester was his replacement in STP
I think the the guitarist and bass player are fabulous musicians. Wyland had a magical presence.
They have a new singer, but you can't replace a real star like Weiland
Yeah! The DeLeo brothers are amazing musicians and composers. Scott was a genius creating vocal melodies without knowing music theory.
And now looking back STP far exceeded being only a grunge band and Weiland is one of the greatest and most versatile.
Great band. Great guitarist. Great riffs, great lead, great sounds.
don't forget
drummer
(eric kretz)
Robert De Leo is a phenomenal songwriter!
He never wrote any of STPs lyrics, that was all Scott. Are you talking about writing the music as in the guitar melodies? I do think both of the Deleos are underrated excellent guitar players.
@@lizreid4063
Trust me, i'm no Bob Dylan lyrically but I have been a songwriter for years and I have four large notebooks full of lyrics. For me, constructing the chord progression / melody / harmonies, etc., is more challenging than writing song lyrics. So when I say songwriter, I'm generally referring to the person that composed the music.
Robert was main songwriter on everything Dean and Scott were secondary but most guitars and bass were recorded by Robert way underrated bass player his motown lines are the shit
I don't see how people think eddie vedder and Scott Weiland sound the same. Two completley different voices.
Saw STP in NOLA in 1999 at a very small venue. Ive also seen PearlJam 3 times. STP put on a much better show. Probably the best concert ive ever seen. Weiland was in top form. Incredibly talented frontman
If Weiland was in the same hemisphere - they would not even be close in terms of performance - no comparison
Core is a classic album.
Stone Temple Pilots is my 3rd favourite band, after Deep Purple and The Cranberries. They were definitely the best american band of the 90s
Oh no, they weren't. Not even close.
@@1985cactus yes, they were. GNIKCUF NOROM
STP are dope. I'm not ashamed to admit it.
I walked out of an STP concert 5 songs into their set because Scott was so drunk he sounded awful. It was Stained, Static X, Linkin Park, STP. What a lineup for a show, even though i left early I'm happy to have seen Wayne, Chester, and Scott
That sounds like an awful show
Would've loved to have seen Static X.

Chester was in STP for three years
Never have understood why anyone would conflate STP and Pearl Jam or say that one copied the other.
Core is in my top 10 albums
When I was younger I always thought that STP and Alice in Chains sounded the same and even had a similar looking front man. Never did I think STP and Pearl Jam sounded the same. Just interesting.
The funny thing about the Pearl
Jam comparison is that neither of those bands sounded like they did when they came out after like 1996. So to this day people do impressions of Eddie vedder when he hasn’t sung like that in almost 30 years, and say STP was a rip off of Pearl Jam when, if you listen to any of their music after Core, they sound nothing like Pearl Jam at all.
Ten and Core are similar records. But they became very very different bands after that. Just funny that the lazy joke about them being the same band has literally not been true for almost 30 years.
It's because people are lazy. I'm reading down through these comments and they're all the same. It's as if people only listened to what was popular at the time and didn't bother to listen beyond the first two albums of most of these bands.
From the moment I heard "core" I was hooked!!! One of the best albums ever!! Scott Wieland was the epitome of a rock star there will never be another R.i.P.
All I know is STP were a great studio band and an even better band live. NO ONE could touch them when Weiland had his shit together. Also don't do what I did and blindly write off "Shangri La Dee Da". It's one of their BEST albums IMHO. They are still one of my favorite groups and I miss them (the NEW STP isn't my STP).
Isn't it ironic that back then critics compared Wieland's voice to Eddie vedders and calling stp derivative to pearl jam and yet Eddie vedder himself isn't even from Washington state either lol
dude youre so right LOL
I love this band and they were as great as the bands from Seattle. Those critics are assholes, they’re amazing.
Absolutely agree Ricki Rackman 😂 talk about an ass hat😂

Seems like you and me were the only 2 that watched the video judging by the comments. It was pretty fucking pointless. Don't forget rikki ratchman too. Really groundbreaking stuff
STP from album to album were wildly different. Loved their more alternative stuff too
Love Scott Weiland! His Christmas album is fantastic! I never thought they sounded like Pearl Jam. I mean wicked Garden and Interstate love song to name a few. They had there own vibe. If anything they all had that Northwestern Grunge sound we loved so much. Wish they never broke up.
MTV would play Plush a lot , everyday, back in the 90's.. Its a cool song.
Not enough credit. First two albums had some true great classic rock not just grunge songs. Big Empty, Plush, wicked garden, interstate live song. Honestly they where kinda like the Led Zeppelin of that era. Not in sound but the band plays so tight together. They sounded like they played together for a long time. Good chemistry.
They were great and I loved everything about them. Saw them in 1994, it was epic indeed!! 🤘🏻💜
STP was a more interesting band. I enjoyed their music more than pearl jam, and Scott a more exciting and engaged front man, with a vastly more powerful voice.
I see Stp as unique with killer chemistry, and weiland as one of the best rock front men of all time
Lookin thru the lens of time Stp is the best band from that Era. An it aint close
Stp is awesome.
You knew exactly what you were gonna hear from AIC, PJ, etc. With STP it was an evolving sound each time. All were great, but STP was consistently more interesting. Shame Scott never conquered his demons.
Too bad you couldn’t produce a video with a more praising and positive aspect around this time of year, especially for today.
I never saw the comparison with STP and other bands. They were pretty original. and awesome.
Amazing how the social situation of the time has faded away, and now stp are probably more respected than most any of the acts they conflicted with or were called ripoffs of and nobody cares if you were from seattle anymore. Millenials looked at what there was and pointed out they were better than pearl jam. Like wayyy better. The zoomers seem to think so as well. I glanced in the hot topic the other day, and by god they had stp shirts. No pearl jam shirts to be found. Its come out in the wash, i wish weiland was here to see how important and long lasting their impact has been.
STP and Pearl Jam sound completely different from each other.
Stp are an exceptional band with beautiful arrangements beautiful lyrics.... Purple is one of the greatest albums of the last 30 years..
'CORE' & 'PLUSH' are as good first 2 albums as pretty much any band anywhere has made
Plush wasn't an Album.
@@nosexinviolence.3358 he prob meant purple, and I agree with him. First two are very enjoyable.
Not much substance and depth to the music. Rhythm section gets boring after a while. Music isn't worth re listening to. I bet few so-called "fans" ever go back and revisit their albums.
@@johnbeckwith1361 You're allowed to have your opinion, but I completely disagree. I listen to their first two albums all the time. The songs themselves tackle topics like fame, misogyny/rape, religion, relationships, substance abuse, etc. with captivating and cryptic lyrics. The riffs are fantastic, the music is well-crafted, and there's enough growth and diversity between the two albums to keep it refreshing and to encourage me to return to them all the time. Its very difficult for me to call the rhythm sections on songs like Plush, Sin, Big Empty, Trippin on a Hole, or Sour Girl "boring." Just because the basslines, for example, aren't super ostentatious doesn't mean that they're not interesting, not fun to jam out to, or don't compliment the song well.
@@boxbarry8061 Yeah I Figured he did, Core And Purple outdoes Ten And VS Imo No Doubt.
Eddie's whole Save the world is an act while supposedly on an angry drunken tirade his beer was noticeably filled and never took a sip but Scott And STP Were Obviously Real about Thier music (RIP Scott).
I've been rediscovering STP the last few weeks. Those guys were waaaay more imaginative than Pearl Jam. The only similarity is the instruments they played.
Butthole Surfers?? Whatever. I liked them both, but why do bands do this? Play your music.
I like the Surfers up until Piouhgd when they became mainstream and all Hollywood hopped on their bandwagon.
Roughly 30 years have passed and STP have become a great hard rock band, with jazz, psychedelic and bossa nova influences, among other styles.
Roughly 30 years have passed and Pearl Jam... well, they sound exactly the same.
STP shits on Pearl Jam. And besides they sound nothing alike
The difference between Weiland and Vedder is Weiland was a ROCKSTAR.
Damn pearl jam actually sucks compared to STP
Early on I couldn't stand them either. They were just one of those radio bands among the others during the flood of "alternative" music in the 90's. Now I love them. I guess I got over myself and the snobbery.
I so loved STP. I still do actually.
I think one of the main reasons STP were 'hated' by the mainstream is due to the fact they were never a grunge band, though they definitely were seen as one (at least at the beginning) and they definitely were ok with that.
Great band, tragic story.
Bullshit STP are great. Eddie Vedder was born near Chicago moved to San Diego then Seattle. Dave Abruzzesse was from Texas, Jeff Ament is from Montana, Mike McCready is from Florida etc.. so on and so on. STP never said they were from Seattle. The Brother DeLeo are from NJ, Scott was born in Ohio but moved to California and Kretz the drummer is from San Jose California
