  • It started with a free Renault Clio that I fixed up and sold for a profit. Later I purchased a 1970 Morris 1300 that I also fixed up and sold for a profit. Now I have traded to a British sports car! A 1998 MGF!

It might be prudent to do the cam belt now. Things can get postponed by events. Belt failure could trash the motor, which would be really sad.

I think if your wife likes it that’s a good reason to keep it around as she supports you and the channel . I have the use of a small convertible (slk) they such fun in summertime

I have an mg tf.135 and brought it as a mid life crisis and I must say despite the the doom and gloom brigade I love driving it I to suffer from arthritis but as a 64 year old that's only to be expected. As for your channel keep rescuing classes and save them from the crusher. Also long as you enjoy what your doing carry on doing it.😇😇😇

Use toothpaste to cleanup the rear plastic window. It will also help to remove the fogging in the plastic window. Yes, just cheap toothpaste will do wonders for old convertible windows.

I think you can continue the trading up séries even if you keep this one (which I would do) but swap it with another car of your fleet with a similar value to continue the trading chaîn

When u mentioned your wife's joint condition I have always wondered the reason u stay in Sweden ? Yuma , AZ USA is a location where thousands come for the winter from northern states and other countries . I know rain and snow with cold weather is hard on people with joint pain and other health conditions . For auto repair and preservation we have ideal conditions .

Good idea to continue with trading up-series. What about old Volvo’s, Saab’s or ofcourse Jaguars which can be bought for say 1500-2500 euro’s?

I live in Derbyshire (England) and the country roads are twisty and great fun. We also have the 'snake pass', the most twisty and fun road in England, winding up and through the Pennine mountains.

How about a cheap Saab convertible to fix up, 9-3's are cheap and although once common getting rarer now, also comfortable seats for four

If this beauty stays in the fleet might I suggest fitting a pair of 'anti locking hood straps'.
You fit these on the inside between 2 metal bars so that the hood goes down smooth without one of the metal bars jamming every time.

A (not entirely serious) suggestion for you with your Trading Up scheme...
Your current problem is you've bought great cars you then really like (The Morris, the P6, the MGF - and did I notice a Landcrab in there somewhere???), and are naturally tempted to keep them. God help you if you ever get a Dolly Sprint or a DS to "trade up".
Buy cars you can't stand, then selling them will be no problem!
(BTW, I wouldn't have been able to sell them at all, so you're doing better than I would have done! 🤣)

Maybe trade up to a MGTF 160. Just that little bit better. Mine is a 140 but still great. BTW I am also fixing up a 1987 XJS 3.6.

The P38 wasn’t really a trading up car since you still had the Morris so technically this is is part of a different series ! Just swapping around a few interesting indulgences and changing for another after enjoying it and doing a few improvements….

    • @LivingWithAClassic
      @LivingWithAClassic  16 дней назад

Well I sold the P38 to Don and bought the MGF with the profit from the Morris.
I will be trying to swap cars around every now and then for some new content

@@LivingWithAClassic Yes it's all part of the journey of course, not a criticism just trying to suggest how to view things. Ultimately if you use and enjoy 'extra' cars for a bit and then move them on after a while it's still the same trading up process especially if you bank any profits...
Hopefully you can pause it now, enjoy the MGF and make progress on the S-Type and XJ-S !
