- It started with a free Renault Clio that I fixed up and sold for a profit. Later I purchased a 1970 Morris 1300 that I also fixed up and sold for a profit. Now I have traded to a British sports car! A 1998 MGF!

Fab! I love the red interior 😊
I have an MGF and absolutely love it , they are very underrated. Don't worry about the headgasket, if it's still on the road it's been done.
They do seem very underrated and to be very good cars. Yes that is true and it also has been done on this example.
Agree completely, why drive a convertible with the top up. And I don't worry about whats left of my hair either. I will be there next week, hope to meet up. Cheers Doug
Am I the only person who no longer considers it a 'lady's car'?! I don't own one but I like them!
Hi, I am in Australia and have a 2002 MGTF. Love it.
I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
...Jags and Triumphs go together...
Would like a TR6 someday
Get ready for a head gasket if it hasn’t been done yet I have had a brand new Tf and done gasket in 6 months.
It has been done
I’m a long time Jaguar V12 owner in the USA who also happened to recently get an MGF (imported from Netherlands). The most shocking thing has been the fuel efficiency. It just goes and goes and goes, but the gas needle never moves! I needed new hydrolastic units from hahsltd, door latch, door hinge pins…. But that’s about it.
It's a great little car. In the UK the subframe suffers from rust but in the USA hopefully that won't occur. They were built to a cost, and are very stylish and nimble.
They do seem to get great fuel mileage. I haven’t checked ours yet but my wife came home with the fuel gauge in the red. Since it’s a good 10 minute drive to a gas station I thought I’d fill it up a bit from a gas can. I added 10 liters and it went up to 1/4 tank!
What about uk pounds!! Why dollars?
It’s probably one of the most international currencies that most people can relate too. Also most of my audience are in the US
Great find, definitely looks fun to drive!
It is!
A Bond Bug? Finally!
Great purchase. Got to say though, if you want the best little inexpensive convertible sports car, that would be a Miata/MX5. I had a 1990 and it's was the most fun car I've owned. I put over 325,000 miles on it and had zero issues. Enjoy the MG. Looking forward to more info on it. They aren't available here in the U.S.
Yes but the MX5 are pretty expensive here and any cheap ones are rusted beyond repair
@@LivingWithAClassic bummer. Maybe someday you'll find a good used one. A Barn find.
Latter day Lotus Elan /Mazda MX5, a trendy ladies car.
Wife doesn't like red interiors ?, and you had to sell the Red Morris, bet she didn't like that either, time for a new wife 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 FYI RED is my favorite colour as you know looking at my Jaguar MKII.
As a previous owner of a C3 corvette and having worked on MANY of them it is a car you MUST own, but it will come to a point when the itch is scratched and you want something more comfortable like a later Corvette.
IMO cars today 200,000 is nothing IF it has been maintained.
Morris was part of the trading up series just like this car. It paid for the MG.
True todays cars (or well 90’s and newer) can do a lot of miles
Enjoy ur Chinese MG
Too old to be Chinese. The communists that built this MG worked at Longbridge!
Haha yes the OG communists
Looks Good 😊
Thanks!
I got sooooo excited at the start, because I saw the yellow TR6, it's like the one I have, and I thought, wow he's buying a car just like mine. Not to be, my life is being back to being boring.
Well the MGF is far from boring to drive. I do dream of a TR6 someday it’s just out of my budget right now
Where are you based? MOT haha we do it in uk bit they don't have it in the us so i would guess Canada but the plates look off. The s on the mg would suggest Sweden but you're accents are not Swedish 😅
I’m in Sweden 😊
They very fun little cars should make great adition to the fleet for little while. the K-series is firecracker of an engine (headgasket issues aside) very rev happy and nippy. The TF is definitely an improvement but can't fault the F. The spec on this stunning as well silver over red
It’s really good fun to drive. K-series seems great so far
You traded up to a very nice sportswear. Too bad they never sold those MG Type F's in the USA. It looks like a lot of fun to drive.
I wasn't aware until a Patreon pointed that out to me. I thought there were sold over there too. It's really good to drive
Totally love it but I'm biased! I'm just sorry we didn't get them in the States!
I just found out about this yesterday, I thought they were available in the states also.
Hi Adam you have done well with this one the MG F was aimed at ladies pretty much as was the Triumph Spitfire I am sure you and your wife will have a lot of fun with it just keep on eye on the engine oil K engines are picky and can blow the oil seal close to the oil filter. Best regards Andy Allen.
Thanks Andy!
Watch out for water ingress around the rear lights, common on these
Thanks Matt. Seems good so far. It has been out in 2 thunderstorms and everything is dry.
Hello Adam. As you say, a very attractive finacial alternative to an Elise , which after all has the same unit . An 100k isn't bad at all . The important point is head gasket failure . And ...phew ! your good lady is happy 😂 ! Cheers Adam .....wish it was the TR6
She really likes it! She's driven it to work for two days now.
Someday I want to own a TR6 and I want to supercharge one.
@@LivingWithAClassic l have a very early TR6 with the 150 bhp Lucas fuel injection . It's a wonderfully smooth engine , almost turbine smooth, but my goodness ! It has a punch if your in the mood ! Cheers Adam
Like it!
They used the K series engine in the early Lotus Elise.
Yes I did some research on that when I got home. It’s a nice little engine
You will find that a C3 Corvette is a far less practical car than the MG. The Corvette is just an engine and 2 seats. No trunk, no interior storage, no sound proofing to speak of. And the Corvette rides like it has no suspension movement at all.
But they look cool
Errr, I beg to differ. I used to work at the Swedish Corvette specialist Classic car service. I am not a Corvette guy myself, but I must say the c3 chassis is severely underrated. Both in terms of ride and general road holding. The rear axle has a lot in common with Lotus Elan. The front end is general gm off shelf parts. Sure, it is not very comfortable. But that has a lot more to do with driving position than lack of sound proofing (which it actually has quite a lot of, especially the later 70:s cars) And the suspension is not lacking travel. The c3 lacks ground clearance. Not suspension travel.
Oh dear. That engines a bit too modern
It's not that modern really. Pretty simple compared to our L322 Range Rover.
Did I miss the live chat?
chat is still going but I think you needed to be in the premier to join. Not 100% sure
I had a 2002. Nice car. Especially with the factory hard top. Correct tyres are very important.
How is it with the hardtop on?
@@LivingWithAClassic excellent with hard top on. (Worth finding one but they are rare now). A fun car to own, and the design and looks are great, suspension upgrades are available, and worthwhile. Brilliant car if driven respectfully, don't expect 911 performance, it was never intended to be a fast sports car. Good luck Adam, nice choice.
That’s great to hear. I have a hard top for it just need to pick it up
Sounds like a great deal, makes a lot of sense !
You'll really enjoy it, I follow a few RUclips channels that have picked up some of these and are captivated !
The 120hp K Series 1.8 is a punchy engine... fun even in a Rover 75 !
Will be fun to enjoy this summer especially since it’s pretty much turn key
Check the head gasket nice car
It's been done
@LivingWithAClassic good . great cars so much fun to drive
Should have got the TR6 !!! :)
Would love one someday but not in budget at the moment. I’m happy with the MG considering it’s only the 3rd car in trading from a free car
@@LivingWithAClassic hey I'm only ribbing you :) got a 3A so a touch biased!! You'll have great fun with the MGF.....
@AthelstanEngland I know but I do want a TR6 one day
