Trying to build a Low budget NA Miata Engine | 160 HP for 1500$ | Introduction

In this video we are introducing an engine Project where we are trying to build a naturally aspirated Miata engine that will hopefully be producing at least 160 HP at a low cost. From modifying the crankshaft, lightening pistons and rods, to porting the head and building a custom intake. We hope to achieve our goal of 160 HP

I'm about to start doing similar mods to my engine maybe not to the same spec as I'm going for the exhaust intake mod head skimming head porting timing advance and then tuning basically everything I can to get power for as cheap as possible

nice, but with those mods you are probably only gonna be seeing 130-135 hp. im gonna go way more indepth with reducing wheight in crankshadt, rods and pistons, shaving the head and block about 2mm, doing some headwork optimizing valves and having the cams reground. Also a good intake system will make about 10 hp in itself.
Also a programmable ECU is a must at this point. also on the mods you want to do it is highly recommended.

@@throttlebuddies6356 yeah I know I'm not trying to hit big power just get every last bit of the of power you can achieve without opening the block too much or forced induction ect

@@youcodnerd Then look at a custom made intake with a bell mouth filter. can be worth 15 hp on a 1.8 and also reground cams are a budget option to getting more power, but on a stock ecu you are generally not gonna see much anyway

@@throttlebuddies6356 I'm planning on getting a ECU soon and do you think the exintake mod for the cams is worth it or just get reground cams ?

@@youcodnerd i mean depends the exhintake mod will not really gain much, maybe 3-4 hp on an NA motor. i would highly recommend a set of reground cams, as they can net you much more power
