Got the shivers with this one. You got some tone there. Tend also to think that you demonstrate these new devices with song structures that stand testament to themselves. Great and fluid playing.
Love the sound you got out of this pedal and the Small Box in your other video. However, in your opinion and hearing it in the room which pedal sounds more Plexi? I realize this is a 4yr old video but anything you could remember would be appreciated. Thank you.
Hi Dan, lovely guitar work and another great demo. That's a really useful pedal with a nice sound and feel. Sorry I've been missing, moved house and had no internet for two weeks grrrrugh.
Great demo and review! Thanks for uploading. How does DS compare to Small Box pedal? Which one do you prefer? Can you do a side by side comparison demo for us when you have a chance?
Hi Dan, the move was a pain still trying to sort things out, but yes I will be able to spread out and hang all my guitars on a wall. Only issue is the Sun will still be in my window so I will have to work out how to reduce the heat ( or brick up the Windows lol )
My questions are does it stack well and how noisy is it ?? I use a germanium Ranger clone first in line than a clean boost to RYRA Klone So maybe use the RYRA as a good clean boost after RM I don't quite use as much gain that pedal has My thing is to have that infinite sustain almost LoL The Xotic Super Clean Boost is really good too Maybe keep in if not too much noise The EQ section is great on this pedal My gigging combo only has one tone control Killer playing and demo
I have a Dirty Shirley 40w combo. Love it to bits. So much so that I have considered getting this pedal. Would that be wrong? Achieve a Twin Sister (2 channel) option without the cost of getting another amp.
I think you could get great results! If you were running the combo cleaner and use this for a ‘gain’ channel, I think it would work great. However, if you want to use the combo for crunch and want a lead channel, I’d look at the golden Pearl or Buxom boost to push the amp over the edge 👍
@@DanLeggatt - Thank you for the input. I have also considered a Buxom Boost. Perhaps that would be the way to go...or just get them both. Ha! I have read of a few folk running a BB in the loop to tighten up the low end at higher gains. The DS40 can get a bit wooly when pushed and I tend to have the Bass eq'ed to low levels. Really appreciate the reply, and I will definitely take that on board. Edit - I should also say that the combo is very responsive to volume so, with a single channel you can achieve say clean to crunch with volume adjustments on the guitar. Then a pedal to push it hard for higher gain or lead tones.
@@riloh58 Both sounds good! 😂 If you haven’t seen it, I’ve put together a video for the Buxom. ruclips.net/video/RHUXghAZYZQ/видео.html About 3:35 is a demonstration on the tight control hitting the front of an amp that can get pretty woolly. Might be of interest 👍
Pedal straight into my Laney LC30ii. Capturing it with a Two Notes Captor and Greenback IR. I don’t tend to use pedals into my Kemper but I’ll look at doing a video about using pedals with it in future if you think it will be useful?
Good question! I’ve tried a lot of amp in a box / drive pedals. This seems to have its own thing going on. I had this & the JHS @ at one point. Although you could get similar tones at certain settings, the Friedman sounded more open. The JHS was more compressed and ‘singing’. Both great though, just depends on your taste.
I have the BE-OD and the Dirty Shirley, and I briefly had the BE-OD Deluxe to compare. I definitely prefer having both the BE-OD and DS over the Deluxe. The DS also stacks well into the BE-OD for a little more mid presence. More sonic variety with the two pedals. The Deluxe also had a little more mid presence on its own vs the original BE-OD, even with the Mid knob all the way down. I prefer the voicing of the original BE-OD. I know it's supposed to be the same circuit, but it sounded a little different to me.
Congrats, this must be one the best demo of the Dirty Shirley OD on YTB. Great tone, cool licks & a killer pedal.
Thanks so much 👍

Great video! I just ordered the Dirty Shirley and can't wait for its arrival on Saturday...!!!
Awesome demo
Thank you....
Cheers! Enjoy the new pedal 👍
You will love it. It has a very amp like response. Congrats on your DS!
Great Demo ! Great Sound ! Great Recording ! Exactly the Friedman spirit ....................
Excellent video as always dude! That pedal is cracking.
Cheers matey! Definitely one of my favourite drives 👍
Really great review. I’m sold, and your playing is magnificent!
Hi Dan! Robert from New York here! been watching your videos the last few days and just subscribed! keep up the great work!
Thanks Robert, much appreciated man! 👊
Nice demo, loved the playing on the intro track 👍
Cheers! Thanks for checking it out 👍

Thanks checking it out man! How was the move? Have you got a bit more space for gear now? 😂
Bro I’m sold just by that awesome Opening track !! Dave should pay you 😂
🤣 Thanks man. After seeing this video, Dave actually did get me involved in doing promo content for Friedman. He’s a great dude!
Great video

I might be able to do you one better. I have a BE-OD in my position soon to do a big shootout of all 3 👍
Bcos of this demo i buy One,mine just arrive today.....

Good stuff! Except the bricking up the windows haha!
this pedal is awesome.
One of my favourites for sure!
@@DanLeggatt between dirty shirley and be-od which One is more better
Nice sound is that coming from the pedal or is there some other tricks hooked up
Just the pedal into amp with a touch of reverb for the main demo.

Stacks great and not noisy at all. Obviously you get the same amount of noise as any pedal with gain but no extra hiss or hum.

Great and awesome video man!
Do you think this can do Aufioslave or Rage Against the Machine songs?
Definitely
How does this compare to a Marshall in a box , especially Carl Martin Plexidrive (3 switch) ?
Unfortunately I have never tried any of the Carl Martin pedals
Thanks :) , What is the signal chain in this demo ? have you try it with kemper ? can please demo how it sound with kemper?

How would you compare this pedal to the be-od deluxe? Thanks dude
Never played the deluxe but I've hopefully got a BE-OD on the way so that I can do a shootout of the 3 main Friedman amp in a box pedals for you guys.
