      Thanks Adam.. I was thinking I was about to wipe off a Rosey but was very surprised that Barber was there... always bring a smile to my face. The cache was just something I came up with when my wife and I went to those antique stores a couple weeks ago (insta posts on GOpinionated). I bought a slew of them so I can plant these things for a long time. I might even buy some wheat cent coin rolls to put better quality coins in there. Thanks for checking the video out and you know i’m Going to keep bugging you about you making videos too. Lol.

    How fun! I’ve found large homemade tokens before that others had left too. They say things like “you’re too late” or “great find recovered here”. Some folks have way too much time on their hands...ha! Thanks for the video.

      I haven't ever found anything like that.. Not sure I would want the " too late" one. LOL. Sounds like there is a lot of competition where you are located with metal detectorists. I may just stick to putting some decently cool stuff in there for someone to find.. I think it would be exciting for someone some day. Thanks for checking out the video.

      Very glad that you enjoy the video. I always treat the yards I get permission to hunt just like they were mine and leave them looking just as they were before I was there. I have even went to the extent at t highly manicured lawn in Lexington Kentucky to have three five gallon buckets of water in my truck, with each hole when I put the plug back I got a Solo cup full of water and put it in the hole when I put the plug back. :) The land owners were very concerned I was going to mess the yard up. Thank you... I try my best with the videos to be creative so I can educated and entertain. Before I started making videos I found that there was a lot embellishing of emotions to gain attention and it kinda turned me off.. I guess the best way to say it. So.. I always make a promise to keep things very real on my channel as it would be on any hunt anyone watching would be one. There will be good hunts, bad hunts and hunts that well.... nothing every really good gets found on. It's just how it is in the hobby. Mainly I keep myself as to who I am because putting on a skit just isn't in the cards for me . I'd rather that if someone watching my videos met me on the street, they could relate to me as I am in the videos because in a way.. they already who my attitude and personality. Thanks for commenting and for checking out the video... hope your out hunting and discovering some interesting stuff.

      I appreciate that, I’ve hunted Old homes, farms, parks and freshwater beaches. Like you, I get the most relics at old homes, junk jewelry and modern coins at the beaches, and a mix at the parks. It gets me out of the recliner and exercising my legs. Your welcome. I just want people to succeed on their hunts and have interesting places to to detect. Thanks again for another great episode. Like I saw someone else say I learned something new again. I like your time capsule idea and may steal it lol. Went out today to two new spots. They obviously were never detected but were so loaded with clad and and the normal modern stuff that I was having trouble getting to the good layer lol. Came home with about $9 in clad with $6 being quarters. Wish I could remove the top 4-5 inches off both sites. The research I did shows they should be amazing spots. Thanks again and take care.

      Your welcome and glad to make these videos. Just happy you and others are tuning in to watch them. 🙂
      I have had sites like that and it takes work. If you have open permission to them try hunting for a bit... get tired of it and try some others... but... come back to it and keep working it. Anything from moisture levels in the ground, your mental state (like being happy, pumped up about hunting or just out to be out detecting) really effects what your pulling up. Maybe use it as a testing ground as well where you run in a low kHz frequency single mode instead of multi, set the recovery speed to 3 or 4 and sweep slower. High recovery speed lessens depth and low recovery speed requires a sloooow sweep speed and gets much deeper but separation isn’t as good. Either way... with the presence of coins the hunting pressure on that site is low and if your research says it’s a good spot... then that’s all you can ask for. I wish you luck there and I hope you rip up some awesome finds. Hopefully that quarters you were finding were late 60’s and early 70’s putting you very close to some silver 64 or older ones.

    • @ClaytonCountyHistoryHound
      @ClaytonCountyHistoryHound 5 лет назад

      @@squarenailsquirrel9638 , that's for the suggestions and encouragement on those sites. The coins were everything from recent drops to coin spills from the 70's. Old ball diamond that's now a park that is used for events. I was thinking of tackling the area of the old first base side and trying to slowly clear all the trash/clad signals to see if I can clean it up enough to get the deeper silver signals. Going to be alot of work but a great place to test what the machine is capable of. Thanks and take care.

    • @ClaytonCountyHistoryHound
      @ClaytonCountyHistoryHound 5 лет назад +1

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 лет назад

      I try to promote the door knock as much as I can. It's hard for a lot of folks and without taking that step out of the vehicle at a place you want to detect you will never know if you can or can't get on the grounds to hunt.. always worth a try. Thanks for the ID.. looked like a compact to me but when I just dug something not really cleaned up yet it's sometimes hard to tell. Thank you for checking the video out as well as commenting.

    Fantastic video, SNS! As a relatively new detectorist who is also fairly new to the EQ800, I especially appreciate your instructional style throughout the video. Incredibly helpful that you take the time to show the entire process for each target...the numbers/tones during the sweep, pinpointing, and most importantly, your constant narration of how you interpret all of that information and relate it to the target. You truly just taught me a ton about interpreting signals with my Equinox, especially digging that Civil War era token starting at the 7:40 mark. Great demonstration of how a small, deeper coin might look and sound on the EQ series...unfortunately, I know I’ve passed on similar sounding signals on good permissions. I won’t make that mistake again!
    This is the first video of yours that I found, and I’m very much looking forward to watching the rest! Subscribed!

I’m glad that your able to improve your hunt with the info found in the videos... that’s 40% of my goal each time I go dig is to show all I can so others can get a feel for my techniques. I just want everyone to succeed at the hobby. Good luck on your hunts and if you get iffy targets just dig them... once you pop a plug the machine will get a better reading and let you know to just replace the plug or look farther at the target. @@squarenailsquirrel9638 Absolutely! It's very helpful for me personally because I see you dig cool things on signals that I would have skipped over. Your techniques are helping me define what a "good" signal is. The way that you shoot your videos is also much better than others that I see as well, where people are just like "look at this awesome thing I found!!!1!" and then proceed to not show anything else like the numbers, the conditions, anything else.
      Your efforts are very much appreciated!

      Thank you and glad my the videos are helping. Just remember that if your in a different region than I your soils may be very different. Settings can be a little different due to minerals present in the soil. Type some things out that are different than what I’m doing just to see how it works but mainly... just make sure you don’t set the machine too high. Setting too high masks out good finds that are a little deeper. Good luck and any hunts you have coming up.

    Stumbled onto your site from watching bottle digging videos. I've been metal detecting for 30 years and used to post finds on metal detecting forums. I did a lot of editing from camcorder videos (remember those) and describe my bottle digging trips from farm field sites (before you could post videos) where I located privies and trash pits. I know the time you put in your videos are not known by many, but it really shows in your work. Fantastic outings. I have subscribed and will be following you as you post new adventures. If you want to take on a new addition to metal detecting those farm fields, try probing for the privies and trash pits. They do hold some interesting stuff. You could generate more traffic to your site too. It would take more of your time though and I know you are pressed for time on these adventures.

      Tom,
      Thank you for tuning into my channel and checking the videos out. I do enjoy digging privy sites as well as checking out any trash pits although I haven't done it in years. I had a friend back home in Kentucky that did it a lot and I would tag along. I may try one coming up soon since a fella I met the other day said he as a large very old trash pit on the back of his farm and told me to go check it out. Once the ground dries up and things get really hot keeping me from digging in yards I will run over and do a video on it. Thank you for noticing the effort in making these video.. they get pretty taxing at time but fully worth it. I am enjoying the total experience and going to keep doing this as long as I can. Thank you for the very kind comments as well as tuning in. Take care.

Never seen someone put a towel down to pug their plug on to keep the excess dirt of the lawn. I have started doing that. Do you have any tips to get permissions more, I know it’s all about presenting your self and first impressions. What do you actually say? First of all, this was a wonderful video oh, you do a great job. Secondly congratulations on that lovely little Barber , what a great find, came out of the ground beautiful. Thirdly, yes that is the lid of a makeup compact, Art Deco era, probably 1920s or 1930s. The two little holes are where the pin went to attach it to the bottom of the compact. And finally the weird round thing with the hole in the middle comes from an umbrella or parasol, that's the ring that all the spokes attached to, that you would grab and push up the handle to open the umbrella.
    The Civil War token is exceptional, another congratulations on that. Well done sir!

    Hi, that round lid you dug IS a compact or rouge top. We find many of them down here in Tampa Bay. Usually one of two brands: Max Factor is a popular one we find, along with LUXAR. They are rouge or makeup compacts from the 1920's and 1930's. Usually out of New York. The 2 holes on the back are where a small rectangular plate is stamped in that holds the tiny hinge for the top of the compact!
    Beautiful, beautiful Barber dime there-Congrats.

    Another pleasant video. You do a great job of going over your settings and explaining the nuances of a located target and possible nearby targets. Very relevant and useful for the viewer. I watch your videos for entertainment and to see how you get along with the units you swing. After 34 years of detecting IMHO the information you provide has me thinking detectorists of all experience levels can glean something useful from what you present. If I have a criticism it is the rubbing of the silver coins. You can break video, spray the silver with water from a small pump sprayer then show the silver. The fine striations left from a rub can kill the value of a key coin. I always carry a 2oz spritzer bottle and a container of water, like specimen jar. I also like to do a hinged plug and often can locate the object by working without fully lifting it out. Finessing with the pinpointer and my fingers on shallower targets. Please don’t take offense at my comments. I think your style and manner of presenting would make you a great mentor to new detectorists. As for the EQX800 it is a great tool and the 1730 1R cob from Mexico you see in my avitar was found with mine. The site held a pine tree schilling (step son’s find) as well as numerous coppers a 1732 pistereen and just great number of outstanding keepers. You mention farm fields, I’m at home on those too. You are a great ethical face to represent metal detecting. Good luck to ya man!

      Thank you.. I try my best to provide any info I can to help folks out. The Whites and Garrett machines are great machines.. I ran Whites for a long time until recently when I made the switch to Minelab. This equinox is still fairly new to me so I am still learning with each hunt. The pinpointer I use is a Garrett.. I find it to be the best model I have every used in a pinpointer.. sensitivity really does the job on recovering the target fast and accurately. I'm sure you will be please with an equinox purchase but having the two machines you have I'm sure is just as awesome. Just a quick note: I still to this day have found more coins and valuable finds (gold) with a 300.00, only knobs with no display, single frequency, White's classic III than I have with any Multi frequency, expensive, metal detector. Don't feel you need to make a change if you know your detectors well.

    Honestly, I don't know how many more ways to say you make the most awesome videos. On this one I liked that you explained the settings on the NOX as you went through them. I believe you or someone said that each depth bar = apx. 2". Do you find that the depth reading is accurate?

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 лет назад

      The depth gauge "BARS" are calibrated off of coin sized targets, Yes, I find it accurate on coins and targets that are within the size, mass and surface area similar to a coin. If it's a soda can a foot down reading a couple inches deep... that's always been an issue with any detector I have ever used. Thanks for checking out the video and thank you for the kind words.. .greatly appreciated.

      Thanks Jason. I truly appreciate your kind words and it drives me to keep making these videos. If what I’m doing helps as well as entertains that makes every effort worth it for me. I’m glad that you join in to check out the videos.

      Thanks Mike and glad you liked it. The hobby is a lot of fun but it takes time to get up to speed mainly due to learning the machine and it’s responses. Folks call it “dirt fishing” relaxing and you catch stuff but I wouldn’t recommend eating anything. 🙂

      I thought it would be a good idea to put them in after I leave just to give someone a surprise someday. I would for sure think it's cool. I ordered last night 2 pounds of wheat cents off of Amazon to start putting in the capsules when I am done with a site.

    Enjoy your vids a lot, such a good Detecting channel, mellow attitude which is great, informative, great stuff. Watching previous vids now and noticed your garret carrot was faulting, never use cheap batteries always use the energizer they last forever,, it’s the cheap batteries the carrot hates, trust me I know this lol..
    now back to binge watching the rest 😉

      Thank you and glad you enjoyed the video. Yes.. I had some really old batteries in the both units at that point and since then haven't had any issues. I for some reason always forget to freshen the pinpointers batteries up. Seriously thank you for the kind words and I do greatly appreciate them.. thank you for checking my channel out.

    Just found your channel and love the videos.
    I have a nox600 myself and your setup helps me get familiar with it.
    You must live somewhere near me because I recognized the town at the end.
    I live near Apple Creek

      Very cool your running the equinox series as well.. Yes.. you are very close since I'm here in Wooster. I have done a few videos down in your area in the past at the Edinburg academy and east of town. I am actually in Apple Creek or through it 3-5 times a week out land surveying. Thanks for tuning into the channel and checking out the video.

      @@squarenailsquirrel9638 That's funny, I had no idea about the academy and I've lived within 5 minutes of Apple Creek all my life.
      I had to go and look for those videos and the funny thing is last fall I worked a few days at the historical society and noticed that house and thought it looks like a good place to metal detect sometime.

Thanks for the good luck wishes and same to you.. I hope you get some great finds on any hunts you may have coming up. Thanks for the subscription as well as checking out the video.

      Thank you for the congrats.. As soon as I saw those film canisters in the antique store it came to mind to leave a capsule of find... I then started working the seller down on price so I could get a bunch. :) Thanks for checking out the video.

    Great video, I appreciate the time you take to set up all of the shots ... different camera angles, live digs, etc. I know it’s time consuming but your end product is awesome.I think yours is my new favorite channel. Beautiful Barber, I just dug a 1911 on Sunday that looked like a fresh drop too ... and love that old token. 😎 GB&HH!

      Thank you. I try my best to cover off on anything that's happening while I'm detecting. Seeing things a little closer to see what I'm seeing as well as folks watching being able to relate to the site is important to me. The time involved isn't too bad since I've got a pattern down and have got used to all the intricacies and settings of the things I use to film. Thank you for your kind words and I'm glad that you enjoy what I'm doing on here. That's awesome you hit a Barber.. they don't come often for me so it's always a delight to find one. Nice that your barber was is great condition too.. the detail on those coins are great especially the back with all the detail. Good luck with any hunts you have coming up and thank you for checking the video out.

    Love the time capsule idea. Also, maybe add your RUclips name and the Date you buried it on a small note, so the finder can watch history in the making. LOL HH GL

      Thank you for the ID on that target... greatly appreciated. I’ve found them before but for some reason I never commit them to memory. I was just thinking a thread all part of something like that. Being a Umbrella part makes it a more personal find.. very cool.

      You ain't kidding.. I really enjoy finding them. I went on a hunt with two friends a couple weeks ago and should have made a video since I found a Barber quarter and a half pence 1862 Canadian coin while hunting. Kinda took a break from the filming and just enjoyed the hunt with friends.. I would have like to have shown them though. Thanks for checking out the video.

      @@squarenailsquirrel9638 I'll keep watching as you hunt these sites , I've got to ask are you a perfectionist like me . Cause I really like when you lay down the cloth to put the clod down and not all over the ground , that's respect and I give you thumbs up for that .
