    I love that you use a towel for your plug on permissions versus leaving a mess on the ground. It's respectful. 👍

      It also helps out with recovering the finds quickly,, all around a great tool for detecting.

    Thank you for showing a little of the door knocking part. That’s the part i struggle with.

      Your welcome.. .I know folks are nervous about the door knocking and it's understandable. Don't think I'm not nervous.. because I am. I just learned to not sit there when pulling up and get out and start walking for the door. Once you are 1-3 seconds into initial contact with the stranger you are asking for permission... everything goes away and all is fine. I always find 2-3 places in the general area so if the first one doesn't work out the others are there to ask .

    Hi, I cant say enough nice things about your videos. I have been enjoying them ever since I found your channel. You have a great personality and voice. I love the way you take the time to get the camera work just right. Also how you explain your finds or if you can't, your best guess, settings on you machine and even the trash you dig, it keeps it real. I like being able to hear what you hear and see the machine in action. The editing is spot on too. I have been working on a channel as well but I am not up to the standards I see in your vids and a few others so until I get to that point, I will just keep watching and learning from you guys. Keep these great videos coming!!

      Thanks for the kind words. I was terrible in the beginning... lol. I’ve just dedicated enough time and money, late nights and learning to deal with complete loss on many hours of work to finally get something figured out that works. I tried the RUclips videos on “how to” in doing video but it was a total loss of money in software as well as many others. I just did trial and error u til it finally worked. I’ll check out your channel and if you get a decal or sticker for your channel, get one to me and i’ll put it on my equinox. Good luck and keep at it until things work out... it’s worth it. There are a lot of great people on here.

    I am impressed. You are really beginning to feel this machine. I have been using my Nox 800 since December and I also have the 6 inch coil. You did better than I can after 6 months experience and a 6 inch coil. Keep up your learning and thank you for passing it on to us.

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638

      I really enjoy the machine and I've picked up it's language is the best way to describe it. I also metal detect too much so.. I've kept it in my hand a lot over the past couple months. I'm sure you are doing awesome with your machine too.. it's hard to know how "good" you are doing by yourself. When I see others I watch on youtube I always wonder why I don't find as much as them... but... it is what it is and I still enjoy what I find when I go detecting. Be easy on yourself and just enjoy being out with whatever you find. :)

      Great feedback.. I try to show everything that goes into metal detecting which includes the good and the bad. I've watched too many RUclips videos of the back of someones arm digging and the finds over and over to try and change it up and portray the total hobby when I make videos. There is a lot folks don't get exposed to that I try to bring to light on here. Thanks for commenting as well as checking the video out.

      Thank you.. I don't always know what everything is but I do my best. There are lots of folks that get on me about the coin dates but I honestly don't know coin mintage dates very well.. I like to find stuff and to say I'm a coin collector.. well.. I'm actually not. I keep the coins because they were finds and not so much that they are valuable coins. Hopefully that makes sense. :) Glad that me talking in the video keeps you interested in the hunt. Thank you for commenting and for checking the video out.

    Started watching at 3pm and you hit your first IHP. I looked at my wife and said I'm heading out and pushed pause. Well I drove up the road to a place everyone has hit but its layered in bottle tops pull tabs and can slaw. Second target was a 1896 IHP which is my first IHP ever. Thanks for getting me pumped and out. I also found a silver Roosevelt Dime. I'm loving my 800. Its 10:30pm and I just finished watching lol. Thanks for sharing your hunt and finds.

I hope that people get pumped up about getting out to detect for themselves more than sitting around watching me on here. Tons of stuff to find. :) I'm really happy you for some silver and hit your first Indian getting into the 1800's with it.. very cool. I have a suspicion as to who it is. Thank you for you kind comments and glad that you enjoyed the video.. I've worked hard to keep the videos clear as well as easy to listen to due to wind, etc. It's tough sometimes making these videos but well worth it afterwards. Thank you for checking out the video and I hope to see some pictures soon as to what you are finding once you get time to metal detect. Take care. :)

      @@squarenailsquirrel9638 Bummer you didn't find at least a Merc at that site. I was anxiously looking forward to it since you found a few wheats there the first time. I have the same challenges in my area...pounded out sites. The high dense trash sites is where I learn to hunt efficiently and productively. I go ever so slowly and methodically, listening for those deep or on edge squeakers amongst the iron and trash. Let's face it... going out there and just swinging the coil doesn't cut it anymore. It takes a lot of work to get the good stuff. Thanks again for putting out quality vids.

    I enjoy watching the Square Nail Squirrel videos, over all the others..... well made... no digging a hole with one hand and holding the phone with the other, or trying to clean a coin off with one hand... well thought out production.... your approach to. lets look at this find together adds a degree of anticipation that you can't help but get excited about.... and the best part... your composer when you detect something of high interest.... No OMG's....no heavy breathing ... no hot diggity damn's.... just cool, calm composer....

    Good hunt. Shows off the separation of the Nox. I like that you show your settings before the hunt unlike a lot of channels. I’m having success with the beach for land program from Neil Jones. You and Gigmaster are my must watch! To top it off I think we are hunting the same general vicinity. I follow you on IG as well. Keep swinging. 👍🏻

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you. That’s cool we are fairly close to each other... maybe someday catch up and do a hunt. I try to cover off on as much as I can in the videos more so than just digging up stuff... most folks are afraid to show settings due to being questioned I guess. I’m not too worried about it since I don’t boast that I’m some pro detectorist. I’m the same thing as everyone watching... only difference is I’m filming myself.

  • @meMiner

    I was really interested in what you might find. Your heart must have sunk when he said it had been done before. Good on you that it didn't just walk away. Great video. You explained things clearly and had an exciting hunt.

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 лет назад +1

      I have heard the "it's already been hunted" so many times it goes in one ear and out the other. I always tell myself that who was there before me had a machine set wrong, they were sweeping wrong missing a lot of ground, not digging iffy signals and swinging a machine they didn't fully understand. I feel better after that and just hunt.. sometimes it's nice because a lot of the trash has already been removed and you can lower the recovery speed to get deeper and lessen the disc number and run wide open. Thanks for checking the video out.

Glad that you are enjoying the videos and that they are keeping your spirits high until you get back out in the field. I hope with whatever you may be dealing with... that you recover soon and return to your normal cadence in life. Take care.

    Hey Kenny, great video, love the way you show the reality of metal detecting.....not everything is treasure !!! The Nox definitely unmasks the good stuff hiding with the iron !! I have been in this hobby since 1976 and must say....... The Nox is truly a technological advancement for the true detectorist!! Keep showing your setup prior to your hunts. I have only 2 hunts with my Nox800 and am learning it’s amazing abilities.noise canceling is a must. ...... next time out , can you show the ground balance procedure...... just want to make sure I am doing that correctly.. keep up the great work, looking forward to your next detecting outing .Thanks and HH !! At 6:35 I believe that to be an electrical connector of sorts. The end with the hole looks like the brass male end that sticks out of old lamp cords. The other end resembles the female part of a stove receptacle. I'm not sure what exactly it would go to,,, but I'm betting electrical

    This hunt almost looks like mine with nails and trash in the hole with the target (no ihp's tho) it keeps producing.
    I believe that the broken aluminum tubing is from the days of roof antennas. They failed a lot in the wind back in the day.
    Later Bart

      Thank you Bart... I too believe it's an amazing machine. The next video which you have prolly watched by now is the last one for the V3i.. .I'm going to let it go. I just don't have the interest to use it anymore due to the hunt quality the equinox is providing. Great ID on the aluminum tubing.. I bet you are spot on with that. I know exactly what you are talking about and it resembles it perfectly. Thanks for watching as well as commenting.

    Excellent video! Getting new permissions is a chore for me. You have to present a positive reason to convince the owner.
    What do you keep and what do you give to the owner?
    I recently found a Half Penny Token dated 1813. There was a ship on one side “Trade & Navigation”. I gave it to the owner because it was the best find. He took it in the house to show his wife and then returned to me and said,” Keep this for your collection.”

      Thank you, glad you liked the video. Yes... asking can be awkward sometimes but in this hobby... have to do it. I typically ask a few places so I can break the ice on the first one and then the others come smoothly. That’s great you were able to keep the token. Sounds very interesting.

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 лет назад +2

      Coils try to run true to center or as Massicotte said.. on the red dot but I've always seen variation over the years between the same two models of coils. Best way to tell where yours is... is by laying a paper clip or something small on a target free surface away from EMI (not in the house) and test your pinpoint center... don't use a coin.. it's too big of a signal to tell accurately. Also... This is a double D coil (aka: DD)... so pinpointing takes practice... it's not like a concentric. Make more than one direction over you target to help identify the location.. .your signal in the ground is a blade and not a point.. if that makes sense.

    Hey Kenny, thanks once more for solid demonstration of your skills using EQ technology to good advantage. Telling that the site has at least been hit twice previously.
    What brand pouch do you use for tools and finds? It looks spacious but orderly. I am used to an old REI pouch I converted but it slows me down. I'd like to take my efficiency up so a rig similar to yours would help get more targets into the daylight per hour.
    Happy Father's Day . Keep rolling on. BTW ... Your high tone (silver) hunt will be an interesting exercise in profile switching to a higher freq weighted profile. Park or Field 1should make the silver pop. HH & be well, Howard.

    What are you typically finding at numbers 39-40 that you notched out? Enjoying your videos - thanks!

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 лет назад

      When large iron has a halo effect in the ground (been sitting there a long time and is flat, very rusty and most of the time similar to a sickle bar tooth or roofing material) you get wrap around from the negative iron target ID range that 'Wraps" around the ID scale into the the 40 and 39 range. It's an issue with every metal detector out there especially when you have the sensitivity turned up or on more sensitive machines than most. Hopefully this makes sense. When you are detecting and you get that 35-40 TID (target ID) range, sounds perfect like a big silver dollar, you pinpoint but the target is 8 inches to the left, you dig the target and find a big rusty something... that's iron halo effect.

  • @therrienmichael08
    @therrienmichael08 5 лет назад +1
