It is only 1.9 km long , but connected to the Seino-Railway from Mino-Akasaka Station. Both Lines were built to transport Limestone to Nagoya Steelworks . Limestone is used as a solvent to remove impurities from iron materials in steelmaking. By the way , the Ichihasi-Line crosses the precincts of the shrine. It's a great place to take pictures. The reason this branch line still exists is because not only to serve commuters in certain parts of Ogaki, but also to serve a couple of schools nearby.

美濃赤坂線はたまに利用してます。酒を飲む機会があるときは列車利用。小生はいつも荒尾駅から大垣駅間を利用、その後東海道線に乗り換えです。我が家からは、荒尾駅が1.9km、美濃赤坂駅が2.0kmとどちらもほぼ同じ距離にあります。荒尾駅を利用してます。昔は美濃赤坂駅から豊橋駅まで直通列車がありましたので、大垣駅で乗り換えなくてもよかったですが、途中から大垣駅止りとなりなり、乗り換えが生じました。また、大垣駅を出ると荒尾へ向かいますので、たまにドジな乗客がおり、間違えてこの列車に乗って、美濃赤坂駅で行き大垣まで戻り、東海道線に乗り換えてました。昔は修学旅行列車が美濃赤坂駅から出ており、兄はここから東京までのんびり列車の旅をしたそうです。私は新幹線で東京へ行きましたけど。
