About the "ultimates that can gain charge while being used", there are two more characters who can charge their ultimate while they use it, but it's pretty much useless. Reinhardt can charge his ultimate while using it as long as the hammer doesn't hit the ground, aka being in the air himself. Zarya also can charge her ultimate while using it as long as the graviton hasn't hit anything, like shooting it upwards. And baby Dva used to he able to do that too until it got patched recently due to its op usage in the OWL as Echo.
torb too. If you splooge one on the ground and the rest into the air, you get to gain ult charge once the first spoogle disappear. So the airborne ones are delayed and technically can help gain ult %.
2:17 I believe why Genji gets ult charge from deflecting Tactical Visor is because the bullets themselves don’t change. Visor is just an aimbot so the gun doesn’t change (except for it flicking quickly due to the aimbot nature of Visor but again that doesn’t change the gun itself other than its orientation) 3:58 I believe healing self inflicted damage used to grant ult charge from what I was told by friends. You’d run Zarya, rocket jump out of spawn, and have an Ana get some ult charge
My hunch is that there are two ultimate-related checks for whether damage counts for gaining charge, one being if an ultimate is currently active, no charge for you and whether damage is caused by an ultimate. If Genji is not ulting, deflecting visor grants charge. If Genji is currently using Dragonblade, he gets nothing.
@@pantuternik I think it’s more of unless the ultimate changes their visuals, their primary fire is what give ult charge. Genji with blade changes his primary fire so he won’t get charge because he’s not using his primary fire. Same reason why Ashe and Ball get ult charge with their primary fires as their ultimates are active.
@@Unfeatured That could be true. This makes me wonder if Hanzo during his Dragonstrike animation (before the dragons are released) can actually earn ultimate or not? Because if your theory is correct, that should be the case, same thing for right as Ashe calls down Bob, WB pressing the mines button etc.
2:18 thats because soldiers ult doesnt actually do damage, it just makes you lock onto enemies, his attack is still just normal attack while reapers or mccrees ult damage is a unique attack that only the ultimate does. There is no soldier ult damage to deflect, only his normal attack which is seen as a normal attack rather than ultimate damage by the game.. because it is.
4:00 I love the Tf2 Reference, and the reason I enjoyed and sticker to your channel is that you are OW’s Shoudic (Tf2 Mechanics YTer) even though I don’t play OW. It’s just informing and entertaining
I wouldn't say it is completely accurate to say you can't build ultimate during graviton. For example you can graviton directly in the air and you will be able to deal damage and build ultimate towards your next one. As soon as the grav lands and activates you won't be able to build ultimate cost any more until it finishes. The same concept works for Reinhardt ultimate when you fire strike and use earthshatter. If the fire strike hits enemies after you activate shatter but before the hammer hits the ground you will still get ultimate charge. You do see Zarya's alternate fire targets immediately before grav because they will still get ult charge while the graviton is moving through the air. Great video! Very informative.
@@Marblr Yeah you can only essential pull if off if the enemy are grouped in a small hallway or grav'd together. You used to be able to bhop shatter to extend casting time. You can also jump off somewhere high and ult making the time to land the shatter longer but that is pretty risky and pointless. Anyway these were just minor exceptions. Your videos are amazing quality!
While this is true, it’s not true that zaryas right click before grav to get extra ult charge, it’s done to add an additional right click animation cancel for free damage going into a grav. The extra ult charge is just a bonus (:
@@RoseGoldKR that is situational. It can definitely be worth preserving ammo and waiting to right click until after the graviton surge pulls the enemy togethrt because you will get better splash damage.
It’s because sombras effective range and game style leans to an assassin rather than a poke from range hero like soldier. Sombra does high burst of damage in ow2 but they aren’t as consistent as soldiers damage which is practically present at all times. This means sombra charges ult way slower even though she has a relatively low ult cost

awesome vid, little question, when you boop someone of the map and get a kill you gain an amount of ult charge but if the falling hero damages itself during its fall this ult charge is not gained. is the amount of charge gained equal to their health or just a general "elimination charge"
@@LordJazz It is indeed crazy how Lucio's ult is so costly when it's so mediocre / hard to get good value from. There's a reason it's been used as an offensive ultimate (extra protection when engaging) for ages rather than to survive other ultimates or combos.
Yes, you gain an amount of charge equal to the health they had when they died. This means that if you boop a full health Roadhog into a pit, you’ll earn 600 points of ult charge immediately. (Side note: eliminations due to environmental damage are granted to whoever last dealt knockback to the victim. This means that if a victim can deal knockback to themselves, such as through Soldier rockets or Zarya grenades, they can prevent enemies from gaining ult charge since the death will be read as a suicide. This is also why you sometimes see Lucios rush in and boop or punch enemies that were already about to fall into pits so that they can receive the ult charge for that kill.)
