- Police are investigating an incident that unfolded at a Catholic church on Sunday where a priest allegedly bit a churchgoer because she was trying to receive the Holy Communion in an improper way, according to the St. Cloud Police Department.

She tried to grab another”cookie”??? She is not a Catholic, that’s for sure. So when Father refused to give her Communion, he was right in doing so. When she came back at the evening Mass, and attempted to grab hosts from the Ciborium, Father did what was necessary to protect the Body of Christ!! Never is the consecrated host referred to as anything other than the Body of Christ, and certainly never is it a cookie.

Is the woman even a Roman Catholic? If she is not, she had no business trying to receive Holy Communion. Anyone who refers to the Holy Eucharist as a "cookie" is most probably not a Roman Catholic.

The worst reporting I've seen, so freaking biased, watch the body camera of the interview of the Priest. This woman went there to cause trouble not once but twice, probably trying to cause trouble because oh well we know why. And no, you're not entiltled to Communion and it's not a cookie or waffer. I had a bad feeling watching the body camera of the Idiot Sargeant supervising the interview, asking the Priest if he could deny communion if someone was gay and the Priest trying to explain the doctrine, of course it didn't help that the Priest's first language is not English.
And, on top of that, the inept PD of St. Cloud recomends charges for the Priest, LOL, good luck with that. Putting the separation of the Church and State aside, if I'm holding a bowl of something and I don't want to give you any you don't have the right to grab it from my hand, and I can protect my property. Any sane person who is denied Holy Communion walks away. Work on yourself so you can receive. It is a privilege to receive Holy Communion, not a right. If you are not living in God's grace or aren't Catholic then you can't receive period.

That woman is. crazy and a liar. I am a Catholic all my life.I am confident that no priest would ever try to harm anyone unless to defend themselves. Besides, when somebody in authority will tell you ,be it in the church or any establishment , that you are not allowed to do something, you should respect their decision. She could have gone to another church or follow the steps she needed to do in order for her to be allowed to receive the holy communion. I bet she is not even a true catholic or religious. The Priest is telling the truth here. He is defending the Body of Christ, The most Holy sacrament we have and the base of our faith. People can’t receive the Holy communion if they haven’t confessed or if they are in a relationship but not married in the Catholic Church regardless of what sexual orientation you may have.

I will comment with the most humble and respectful way possible. A good priest knows his herd and this priest, which is a good one, knew that the alleged "churchgoer" is not part of our community. This is the reason why he asked her some questions and just after she answered them and only then, he recommended her what to do in order to be in grace and be able to receive the Eucharist. The person returned later (same day) to another mass requesting the "cookie", as she referred derogatorily. Also claimed that was her right to receive it. The problem with this situation is that is not a "piece of bread" or "a cookie" like the person referred to. For practicing Catholics, like me, it is the BODY and BLOOD of CHRIST; and is Sacred. Not everyone could receive it, even more, not everyone could touch it. She was not ready to receive communion because she admitted not to celebrate mass for many years until that day, so the name of "churchgoer" doesn't apply to her, because part of our doctrine is to go to Mass every day of obligation, if not your are in gravely sin and need to repent before receiving communion. She planned everything because she came back to another mass with the news crew. Finally, she demanded to get the "cookie" and made the horrific mistake of reaching into the ciborium and crushed with her hand the Sacred Body of Christ. Both hands of the priest were holding sacred articles and she didn't react to the request from the priest to let go the ciborium. He acted in self-defense when he was attacked. This person showed a totally disrespect for the Eucharist. You can't go to a mosque and vandalize the Quran or the mihrab! You can't go to a synagogue and vandalize the ark with the Torah or the Torah! For us, the Catholics, the Body and Blood of Christ is Sacred! She entered our house of worship with the intention of creating a media show and with the only purpose of disrespect our beliefs. May God has mercy of her soul and God bless you all!

The Eucharist is not a "cookie" or "just bread." Jesus established the Eucharist to feed His sheep, the flock of His people. It is the visible sign of His invisible grace for us. He is truly present in the Eucharist - body, blood, soul, and divinity for our sake. The Creator of Heaven and Earth is fully able to make himself present for us in the transformed species of bread and wine as He spoke at the Last Supper. He gives himself entirely for us and chooses to unite our life with His, that by His holiness and worthiness, we might be conformed fully to Him who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Dying He destroyed our death, and rising He restored our Life. Those who truly love Jesus and obey His commandments, receive Him in the Eucharist, who is the Living Bread come down from Heaven. We must always receive the Eucharist with true faith and reverence for our Lord. He strengthens us by His divine presence and grace on our earthly sojourn. All love, glory, praise, honor, thanksgiving, power, majesty, and dominion be to our God in the highest Heaven, now and forever. He is ever holy, ever just, and ever merciful. It is by His steadfast love and unfailing faithfulness that humanity has hope in His salvation, His gift of forgiveness and eternal life to all who believe in Him. Jesus is Lord!!!

It is true. To take the Eucharist you must go to RCIA, go through special procedures and confessions. It is not to be ne taken lightly. It is a sacred thing for Catholic people. I grew up Catholic. It's a very serious thing to take the Eucharist.
She should respect the institution. We all had to go through training, membership, declarations, confessions, the sacraments, etc.

The fact that she called it a cookie proves she’s not Catholic and therefore is not allowed to receive Holy Communion under any circumstances. It goes against the Catholic Faith, it’s forbidden by the Church and the priest was protecting the Body of Christ which was being threatened right in front of him by a person who had no right to it whatsoever. She would have to become a Catholic and be received as a full member of the Catholic Church before she can receive the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. The priest, even under pain of death, was obligated to protect the Eucharist with his life.
The priest had no hands to block with. This was an assault on the Eucharist.
The priest was just trying to do his job. Biting may have been a bit over the top (if he actually did it), but he's not supposed to allow someone obviously choosing to live in sin, committing sacrilege in the church, refusing to do confession, and ignoring the priest's instruction to just take the sacrament (body of Christ) in his Church. She should be charged with theft and criminal mischief. She should probably also be excommunicated from the Church and given a trespass warning.
