- Across Cook County, taxes rose for 1.3 million homeowners and 94,000 commercial property owners from $909 million to $17.6 billion, a 5.4% higher than last year, but below 8% rate of inflation for 2022.

So when everyone is struggling you don't appear on TV in flashy expensive clothing. It doesn't look good. Maybe all county and city officials need to have their high salaries re-evaluated. What are the school administrators making a year. That is where our money is going and it continues to fall on all of us.

Petition to lower the cook county line, move the line from Lake cook Road to say Devon or Touhy ave so that cook country cannot feed off you anymore, ever wonder why the property taxes are so low in places like Lake Bluff and lake Forest., those people are no fools. Wow, that is all I can say. I left Lawrence Kansas for this very reason. I talked to older neighbors who told me they were being taxed out of their homes. I knew when I retired I needed to be someplace with lower taxes. Now I live on the side of a mountain middle of nowhere. The town is 40 min drive. This is a problem for me as I age. One I did not think about when I moved. I do not know what to do other than order groceries online and pray my health does not go. God Help America..

My taxes didn’t go up, they doubled. I am a senior and was told my taxes were frozen. I don’t have kids in school.😢😢😢 can not afford $11,000 a year. Been redlined for almost 30 years, now this shit. I hate you people, just greedy.

My taxes in Markham went from $1,000.00 to $4,300-I’m trying to keep this house as this is a paid-off family home, but Crook County is eventually going to get me out of here….This is total back-alley bullshit.

This is BS. If commercial property is unrented, that should not be the financial burden of the homeowners. The county needs to find a way to make that property work for them financially. Lower the price on the land and sell it. If the land is owned but not rented, that is on the landlord. They need to sell it to someone who knows how to make money on that land. So they can just sit on property until our landscape or demographic changes? These people take on risks, knowing they will be bailed out by the working class. Our system is like a well groomed mafia! Lastly, why in hell do people with no children have to pay as much as people with children. I'm willing to pay a share, but people need to send their own kids to school. I'm moving of gird!
