- In 2023 south suburban property taxes are up just shy of 20% on average, setting a new record. In two towns, Dixmoor and Phoenix, tax bills have more than doubled.

There are dozens of municipalities, school districts, libraries and first responder pension funds on every tax bill. Who’s got time to call them all and, even if they did, would they get a straight and honest answer? Probably not.
Here's the money for the immigrants that Mayor didn't get previously, now we have to pay for it.

Homeowners will more than likely register and vote, renter won’t more than likely because they can/will move from one place to another. I lived in Dolton from 1978 -1998.
So because there are more vacant buildings and homes, we gotta pay higher tax bills? Now even more people are going to leave. I am trying to leave. I wish i knew about these meetings that she is talking about. As someone who is in Park Forest, i have seen businesses leave, high school closed, churches leave, and more mentally ill people on the street. Something needs to be done.

She is the treasurer. She does NOT set the levy or budgets, that is done by the mayor, school board, etc. She's merely explaining how it works.

JUDGES ARE PAID IN RETIREMENT $199,000.00 PER YEAR AT A MINIMUM AND AT ONLY 7 YEARS OF SERVICE TO QUALIFY. THE HIGHEST PAID PENSIONS ARE AT $249,000.00 PER YEAR. A JUDGE ONLY HAS TO CONTRIBUTE 7% OF EARNINGS. IF AT 9% CONTRIBUTION THE SPOUSE HAS DEATH BENEFIT RIGHTS OF THE SAME AMOUNT.

In watching this interview I would like to comment that she is wrong is saying the black community was hit hardest, I our case our property went up 400%. We are on social security and pension, how are we supposed to come up with this extra money

This is not a property tax, it's a diversity tax aimed to pay for illegals and worthless equity programs and don't forget the pay to play going every day in Cook county, it's endless. I work for a city government, 50-60% of your property tax bill goes to the school district. So stop telling the police and fire department to figure it out. Tell the school districts to figure it out.

I think it looks like a ton of tax sales because more and more people can't pay their tax bill. It's also why IL banned most semi-auto rifles.

So taxes go up when people leave. But then when new houses go up in old neighborhoods, the old houses tax go up as well. So pretty much your bill goes up if less people live in your area and you pay more if more people live in your area.

Do you notice how much homelessness we have in Cook county do you think it may be correlated to the increases in taxes and the increases in property values from the artificially low interest rate that was in effect for years. It is my belief that our politicians left at artificially low in order to increase property prices to cover their perspective budget at the cost of the public as usual.
Homelessness is not related to taxes in the slightest. In fact "homeless" is a misnomer. Vagrants, drug addicts, criminals, illegals and mentally ill would be more appropriate terms.
