I added the Halo9 to a 2003 Honda Odyssey, cant recommend it enough. It grows on you as you figure out its feature set and it looks breathtaking once you have it all setup. It is so good that I find myself driving the old Odyssey with this Halo9 more than a brand new 4X4 Explorer limited.
I know this is an old video but I've been installing since 1988. Bought and owned my store and shop since 1995. Last car I owned with a true all out stereo was an 82 Cutlass Calais that I sold in 95. Vehicles owned past that got a remote start and whatever radio I had an abundance of supply. Fast forward to 2022 I drive a stone stock loaded 16 Sierra SLT. Factory remote start and factory radio. I will put a remote start in it before next winter but my own vehicle just isn't all that tempting to work on.
You guys are the best wish you guys was in Chicago so I can get my radio done by you guys I love that you guys take your time and go over Every option before installing it 👍👍👍👍
I’ve been waiting for somebody to do a proper install video of this unit and finally learn what to do with the extra space in the double din opening. Thanks.
love you guys. Now that i'm old I love seeing things done right and non-intuitive commentary. Would love to have seen you do the complete tuning + commentary on the tuning.
appreciate the video. I remebered looking for reviews on this unit and there wasn't anything out at the time. I wish I saw this before I got my ddx917ws by kenwood. I would have gone with this over that one but I'll definitely be looking at the 309 down the road for my 4runner at some point.
Just put one of these in a 17 TRD off road Toyota Tacoma. The “free” dash kit that came with it from C-field has plastic brackets. Not strong enough. Rattles and bounces too much because of the weight of the display. Picking up a Scosche kit with metal brackets to see if that fixes it.
That final bit of the install is... tricky. If Alpine shaved $200 off and increased the resolution of the screen, that would be great. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto would make it perfect.
Nice work!! Last alpine I ever owned was the ixa-w407 (which was great) don’t know why, but I’ve disliked every newer alpine after that time. Currently running a Kenwood ddx9703s, first Kenwood I’ve ever owned..I kinda like it...the mirrorlink thing is dope.
I wish I could fit a screen like this in my e46 3 Series, I love the car and it drives great but all things audio were definitely low on BMW's list of priorities.
Quite frankly, if I had to live with a larger screen sticking out of my dash and partially/completely blocking some of the switchgear or vents, I'd go with 1 of either 2 additional options over this Alpine. Either install a 10 inch tablet or go with the Chinese-made Joying 10.1 inch Android headunit. Both these options will result in having the screen protruding but the Joying is much cheaper, while most people already have a tablet of some sort, just need to sort out the dash mount. I'm sure the sound quality of the Alpine would be the best among the 3 options, but if you're looking into a screen larger than the usual 7 inches, you probably care more about how videos look on the display, rather than loss-less music playback. If you're a stickler for pure clean music, stick to the 7 inchers or single DINs. Nice clean install lines and looks. High fidelity music doesn't require a screen to perform well. For those who want the best of both worlds and can live with the daily compromises of inaccessible switchgear, then this Alpine may very well be your favorite deck of all time.
I have a pioneer avic nex radio...love it and thinking about a upgrade would this radio do what the avic does or better...been following you guys for a while...y'all are the reason I purchased the avic radio...keep the great content coming guys
Just had mine installed last weekend and so disappointed in the screen contrast brightness especially with Apple CarPlay map apps (Apple maps and Google maps). Can’t see the white road lines in the map, it’s too white washed out. Even with tuning the brightness/dimmer in settings we weren’t able correct it. So it’s being returned next weekend. Maybe it’s a quality control issue with 2019 builds? Seems like others have the same issue recently.
Hey guys D & F I hope u had a good xmass and happy new year n a few days. Could you guys tell me what harners, adapters, wires etc do I need to install a halo9 ilx F309 on a 2018 Toyota Sequoia SR5? With back up camera No JBL speakers on it Want to keep the original usb and stering wheel control.
I got the unit as a xmass gift but to install it they want to charge me $850, so I was thinking if I can get the wiring harnesses on Amazon I might save some money.
I thought my pop out screen was a pain sometimes, you proved me wrong. That alpine screen is horrible. I mean the screen looks nice, but the way that"s held on there is not.
I have the alpine ilx-f309 in my 2006 330xi bmw and when I want to access setup or settings it’s telling me to put it in parking brake but it’s a manual car i don’t know what to do with these problem
I assume once its in. It in....as in you can't pop it out for security purposes without busting out a screwdriver etc. I remember old cheap soundstream and Fahrenheit units would have a quick release on their 9, 10" screens. Does it have any background graphics?
I wanna use this pac kit in my 2011 camaro with the alpine ilXF509 the newest 9inch halo. Have you ever heard of the Subthump factory amp replacement kit?
Called Alpine tech support, this model will not stream video files from a USB or Blutooth device out the rear video outputs. Only DVD can go out the rear audio outs. I asked this question 10 years ago to Kenwood and same issues. These are not cheap units and the processor is lacking. Get in at least the 20 Century.
in shocked aftermarket manufacturers havent taken the mylink touch screen, modded it to put their display in it and build the HU just like the oem. without the side buttons for the bigger screen of course. then it not only fits better, but looks better than having a screen float and either block AC flow or the AC controls.
Can you guys please make video on how to wire an aftermarket radio with a bypass switch on an alpine ixl 510. I need it to work with my tailgate camera.
When installing this in a double din opening, I’m assuming you’re going to have an opening in the back for the pocket, or does it come with something to cover the blank space? Thanks!
Question for you guys. Because the Alpine has such a large EQ/Time Alignment etc section built in, would you still use an external DSP like a bitone in conjunction with this? Or would the built in settings be sufficient for most installs? Looking to pair the Alpine i902 with some Hertz gear (high energy components, tweeters, and subwoofer using an HDP5 amp). Would you recommend a bitone as well? Thanks for any help, love your channel and all the knowledge you share with us all.
i have this same radio. i have an annoyance with the auto dimmer. if i turn the dimmer to on at night it will get to a level of darkness that i like but if i set it to auto and adjust the level as dark as possible it is noticeably brighter which gets annoying to the point that i will go into setting and switch from auto to on which is then annoying the next day because when the sun is up i have to go back into settings and turn the dimmer off or to auto. have you noticed this? were you able to contact alpine to see if they would make a software update to further allow you to make the screen darker in auto dimmer mode?
I added the Halo9 to a 2003 Honda Odyssey, cant recommend it enough. It grows on you as you figure out its feature set and it looks breathtaking once you have it all setup. It is so good that I find myself driving the old Odyssey with this Halo9 more than a brand new 4X4 Explorer limited.
You guys put out great content, I enjoy catching up when I can. Keep it up!
BigDWiz Love you showing support for the car stereo guys! You both have great content!🙏🏻👍🏻👌🏻
Thank you so much
Good evening can this deck fit in my BMW E90?
Nice radio Dean. I'm glad you got the chance to work on your stuff. Thanks for sharing
Thank you
I love this radio, I just bought it for my 2008 Honda Civic and it’s just amazing. Feels like I’m in a newer model car. Thank you guys for your work

Cool to see one installed. I’ve been trying to talk a buddy into putting one of these in his Chevy Colorado.
It’s the hand gesture’s for me 👌 👍 🙌🏾. Perfect video answered all the ?s I had about this stereo.
Thank you for yet another professional, careful, thoughtful and thoroughly enjoyable video...and on your own car...so well done..
Thanks.
Thank you
Good choice I always have Alpine for my head unit.
I found your video extremely useful, especially where you explain what the wires are for.
I bet Fernando can't wait to get his car in next .
love you guys. Now that i'm old I love seeing things done right and non-intuitive commentary. Would love to have seen you do the complete tuning + commentary on the tuning.
Awesome headunit
Thanks for the video love watching you guys
Great stuff
Thank you
FINALLY!!!...... Awesome Video, Thank You. Congrats Dean on getting some Beats in your Ride.

Nice video guys. Glad to see the Camaro finally got some love.
Me too
Luckly in Florida you only need access to temp control twice a year.
Looks like a nice head unit. Built like an iPad.
"YOU might be asking, what car can go in my car?" Lay off the sauce pal 😂😂
Dean thank you for the video .My opinion I think ,I might hold out for the new Kenwood radio.Dean love your Camaro .
Once again a great vid, thanks guys. I wish you where out here in Cali.
You cleaned your car before the install! Nice job Dean lol
Of course I did. I washed it the night before and then it rained.
Great video in love you guys get the point. Quick
Congrats! I'm sure you were more than ready for it.
Thank you
Awesome unit , Congratulations you deserve it.
Thank you
I love Alpine, my first stereo and woofer was a 10" Type R... At that time it was only Alpine (and I liked polk too)
As much as y'all like to work with the repetitive same oh same oh pioneer I'm glade you chose to put a alpine in your car
For sure
Fantastic job!
Thanks
I’m getting this installed in my wrangler today
Love that Alpine tablet hu, cool to see your own vehicle install
appreciate the video. I remebered looking for reviews on this unit and there wasn't anything out at the time. I wish I saw this before I got my ddx917ws by kenwood. I would have gone with this over that one but I'll definitely be looking at the 309 down the road for my 4runner at some point.
Looking forward to the upcoming morel and amplifier install 😀 Enjoy your new Head Unit Sir 😎
Me to!!!

Yes it is a bit heavy
Adam, I was considering this for my 2019 TRD Tundra, Did the Scosche kit with metal brackets fix your issue?
this radio is absolutely awsume!
Nice Video. Finally we got it😊 Nice rims😎
Thank you
Those staggered RCAs are sweet!
Yo I like that shirt Fernando's wearing where can I get one of those oh yeah and then really really cool radio looks sweet
I just installed a 9” halo in a 2010 Cameroon
Got my new stereo today Alpine cde 163bt its got the 3 way x over with the right slopes for my all alpine active system.
Very cool, that is a nice radio
About time! So happy for you! One bit of advice: DONT use MX; it WILL blow out your speakers. Ask me how I know. 😭
Oh, I know what you mean
That final bit of the install is... tricky. If Alpine shaved $200 off and increased the resolution of the screen, that would be great. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto would make it perfect.
Thank you
Great content and explanation
Thanks I just had it Stolen! Will buy again!
I enjoy your show. Keep it up..
Thank you, will do
ITS ABOUT TIME WAY TO GO
I know right
great ! keep them coming........awesome.
Wish I was closer to ya but I'm in Minnesota.
But imagine the return trip after your car’s upgrade!
Great effort.. great video 👍👍👍
Congrats
Thanks
Got one of these in my Hyundai i40 and they are fucking mint
Awesome review!!!
Good job guys!
Thank you
very cool...
I wish I could fit a screen like this in my e46 3 Series, I love the car and it drives great but all things audio were definitely low on BMW's list of priorities.
Good morning
Ps love the longer install videos!!
Thank you
THANKS

I'm glad Mike Sajecki pushed you to finally pull the trigger.
He would like to think so.
You guys really are the best! Could you do a review on the Pioneer DMH-WT7600NEX. Thank you!
Compared to the Sony units it’s pretty slow, but I like the concept of that one.
I have a pioneer avic nex radio...love it and thinking about a upgrade would this radio do what the avic does or better...been following you guys for a while...y'all are the reason I purchased the avic radio...keep the great content coming guys

Looks laggy and a bit out of place. i dont think it makes a clean install. and for a $900 MSRP. not worth it.
I think they are all laggy
And not having at least a 720p screen for that price, it's just a huge pixelated screen
The only thing that I would be worried about is the vents blowing into it
I assume once its in. It in....as in you can't pop it out for security purposes without busting out a screwdriver etc. I remember old cheap soundstream and Fahrenheit units would have a quick release on their 9, 10" screens. Does it have any background graphics?

Can you guys please make video on how to wire an aftermarket radio with a bypass switch on an alpine ixl 510. I need it to work with my tailgate camera.
Difficult install, I'm sure. You made it look EZ, cutting out all the swearing...lol. Nice Maro!!!
I love alpine but it looks like it blocks the vents
Fernando is Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite, and that's awesome!!!! Great Video!
When installing this in a double din opening, I’m assuming you’re going to have an opening in the back for the pocket, or does it come with something to cover the blank space? Thanks!
Awesome video buddy, I wonder if one of those would survive the Blazer.

i have this same radio. i have an annoyance with the auto dimmer. if i turn the dimmer to on at night it will get to a level of darkness that i like but if i set it to auto and adjust the level as dark as possible it is noticeably brighter which gets annoying to the point that i will go into setting and switch from auto to on which is then annoying the next day because when the sun is up i have to go back into settings and turn the dimmer off or to auto. have you noticed this? were you able to contact alpine to see if they would make a software update to further allow you to make the screen darker in auto dimmer mode?
Can you play music through DAB radio or BT music when using google maps and navigating through android auto?
Tight!
great video guys, question tho - I hear the screen res is low and pretty crappy - thoughts????
does it have the Bass and treble adjuster? + or - ?
You guys have the best videos. Would this fit my 06 gmc sierra with bose? I think it would be a cool radio
Is the halo9 work with idata link unit. As well as the idatalink CAM1 dash kit ?
Which brand do u prefer personally for head unit...
Any way of locking screen when on Spotify or does it stay on
What’s the part you need to be able to play video off your phone on the alphine iPhone 8+
"What car can possibly go in my car?" Lmao
Misael Cartagena just heard that. Listened to it twice 😂
My bad
I thought I heard this too but I want sure until I read this. 😂
