IIRC, in Star Trek, Klingons are known for targeting field medics because they view it as giving their enemies an honourable death in battle. Compared to human standards when killing medical personnel and wounded is a war crime

10:09 Yeah... that definitely became a point of criticism in post RotJ content in Legends. Even with the KOTOR games and SWTOR, they throw in the names of movie era side characters.
27:01 And the dumbest thing is that Episode IX is the one time that having massive windows on spaceships would help but when the planet destroyed Star Destroyers don't know how to go up, the crews don't bother to look out of the windows.

About Star Wars. It isn’t that only sky walkers and Palpestine’s matter. It is that if it doesn’t tie in to the force and light sabers you might as well make a different franchise. The problem then becomes. The force is the Jedi and the sith. And the Great War and order 66 made ot so that the Jedi are skywalker and the sith are palpatine.

Shouldn’t they constantly be fighting though since attacking without any warning is liable to spread paranoia about them and logically you would decide to attack before they can.

I agree that Star Wars movies are all about the Skywalkers but the TV shows are a little different they are mentioned but for the most part it's not all about them like the Ahsoka show that is going to have nothing to do with Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker but like I said they might make appearances Darth Vader in flashbacks and Luke for guidance in an episode but for the plot Ahsoka is looking for Grand Admiral thrawn and if you watch the rebels you know what happened to him and Ezra so this show is probably to have something to do with these three characters

So they dislike star wars world building from the movies and shows, even though you can read the comics to fill in the gaps and know of said species and planets.
But they like the codex from mass effect, where you read it for half of the lore.

    • @wikiweekends
      @wikiweekends  10 месяцев назад

The point is that all of that Star Wars stuff was written *after* the movies came out and was largely used to retroactively explain away inconsistencies or add depth/characterisation that was never originally intended.
In contrast, Mass Effect's codex entries were written in tandem with the base game with the express purpose of making the world feel more alive/lived in.
Basically, Star Wars feels like a shallow pool built on shaky ground writers have spent almost half a century desperately trying to fish turds out of.

Also this is probably my Favorite video game. Always has been (so I really hope they dont fuck up ME4). But yeah. I really agree with alot of what yall said. Had alot of these thoughts myself. Like when you think about certain stuff. Humans cant understand an Asari lifespan completely cause well never live that life. And while it might not be as much it applies to the salarians with both the human life span. Which roughly can be about twice there in our actual modern day depending on where your at. So you know medigel and stuff in ME is even better so we probably live longer. And I cant imagine what they think about an asaris lifetime. Id say the only people who might possibly understand it are aliens who've melded with an asari lover or close friend. Like Shepard and Liara

Every one of these start off with such a low energy intro, even if it comes off fake it'd be so much more fun to ham it up! The series' name is already cheesy, just throw that same energy into the intonation. The funny thing is that the topic reveal hogs all the enthusiasm and keeps making me feel like you should just lead with that then follow it up with the name of the series. Almost like a forced and routine breathing room to gather first impressions before you really dive into it.

As an autistic person, I heavily relate to the salarians, and I'd say that they're actually always just chillin. You just can't tell, cause they're intentionally telling a lie through their body language. But calling out star wars like that, which I agree with you, that's why I like lord of the rings more than star wars. The world was built before the story was, and that style of writing creates a depth to the experience that is unmatchable. But the fact that y'all are nerding out this hard on mass effect while bashing star wars when you might not know "Warhammer" and "Warhammer: 40k" are based in the same universe but are 40,000 yrs away from each other and basically a completely different story, is possibly the peak of human hypocrisy. It's just too funny to me 😂 Although I don't mind you not doing Warhammer stuff, cause if you did, this vid would have been less fun to watch! I'm laughing so hard right now! So thank you! You telecasters at home for providing a great video to watch!

I mean, the reason that we don't talk about Warhammer is just that neither of us know or enjoy that subject. When something is as lore dense as Warhammer, we can't really make an episode without somebody having a clue what's going on. We both very much respect the franchise and know how crazy it goes on lore and world building, we just don't have the experience to talk on it.
      - Lucas

@@wikiweekends Is this an auto-reply bot? I'm not really a Warhammer fan but also I'm not convinced you even read my comment, cause that's exactly my point.
TL:DR : I don't care. That's not my point. My point is that you praising Mass Effect, and making fun of Star Wars for content, while saying Warhammer isn't interesting, while so starved for content you did a bit on mass effects autistic aryans is the peak of human hypocrisy motivated by pride and fear. Its like saying "It's a little hard to breathe through a mask so it's not actually worth it. I could end up dying from hyperventilation, and I couldn't even find one in my size!"
Don't change the way you do anything. And don't do a wiki or play Warhammer if you don't want to. Tbh, I wouldn't want to watch a Warhammer channel anyway. Just thought it was a funny comparison.
      ---------------------------
You both geek out over Lord of the Rings and Mass Effect but they're basically the same environments, level of depth for the universe, and amount of lore as Warhammer and Warhammer 40k! In fact the similarities between mass effect and Warhammer 40K makes me think that mass effect is just a total rip off of Warhammer 40k without half the storyline. It's a lot but, so is mass effect and you're praising them for it, but dodging this one. There's only so much lore in them, because it's a bunch of codecs, that are hidden through a collection of games designed to be enjoyable, playable, games that have no need or care to even keep their storyline straight. The Warhammer canon is already broken by the people who write it! You could be trashing on the shameless attempts to try to make movies/shows out of it, but you wont learn to play games as complicated as Parcheesi, and as fun as Super Smash Bros because you feel like you should have more knowledge walking into it. But the reason for "Why is the world like this?" is as good of a reason as "What does the mushroom kingdom do?" You could be playing a fun game that tries to tell a story where all the races of LOTR becomes the political fiasco of Mass Effect, but you can't commit, because there isn't a movie, or RPG that explains where the Hylians, Er... I mean, a story to explain where this world and it's people came from. It's a genre of games with an optional but massive hunt for lore, that doesn't stand up to scrutiny. You should ignore the haters, cause hearing about Warhammer lore from a fan is awful, even if you are a fan. Anything but playing Warhammer games sucks so hard! Because for some reason, no history guide can give a good enough explanation to the hidden history where the races evolve from one tabletop RPGs races, to another tabletop RPGs races. Just like how the Ruto people are descendants of the Zoras. They literally can't reveal the lore, because they backed their writers against a wall to make more video games, to help fund the writers, to sell the figures. It's the greatest unsolvable paradox in sci-fi media.! I just play the Warhammer games like they're chess or monopoly. That's just me though but... Roasting media by looking at the wiki is literally your job! This channel was made for stuff exactly like this! It's a story that desperately tries to keep its story straight, but the story is just the glue used to put multiple games in the same universe, and yeah, that may be confusing. It's really irritating to me too! It's not built like a story should be, cause... It's improv! But the fact that you'll knit pick small plotholes out of a good story and point and laugh at it for content, and praise stories with a larger depth of lore than you want to/can learn, and that drives you to try each possible storyline path, but then you won't even dare to look at a bottomless pit of canonical conundrums of 40,000 yrs of political progress through a video games history is just funny to me. It is you're "Aww HELL, NOOooooooOOOOooo!" moment like the audio-meme. Stop saying you're not interested. You're scared. You don't want to lose the rest of your life by falling down that infinite pit-trap. But acting like you're not interested, is the peak of human hypocrisy. I know... cause I'm doing the exact same thing! I'm not alone anymore! Haha XD
I'd rather not have 5 shelves of orc figurines!
Sorry for this being so long. DX
I've studied, literally, everything, from psychology, to Oppenheimer's rise and fall before the movie was even announced, every electrical appliances blueprints, and even these games that I don't play. Autism sucks! So every response I give makes George Orwell reconsider what classifies things as a 'short novella'
      -----------------------
Sorry for writing a book in comments, but to be fair I was comparing Warhammer 40K to Mass Effect, LotR, Star Wars, and the LoZ. And Mario. It was inevitable really. Just wish I had realized that before pressing send. XD
