The crisp sound while you pick or pluck those veggies is so satisfying. I too wish to grow my own veggies. Yours look so fresh, pristine and of course quite wholesome as compared to store bought.
Celery looks great, and I bet you can make a good Italian sub with that. Ferment it a little, throw in the dressing, cheeses, pepper it…damn, I’m hungry. 😂
Beautiful harvest. A pesto with the chives and some of the tender parts of the chard to toss onto the yellow beans. Not a huge fan of raw celery myself but I’m thinking a relish type topping with the cucumbers and peppers may be a good idea to sneak that in- definitely use the celery leaves too. Hope these help👍🏽
Pro tip on celery from a celery stick hater: Cube it up in small pieces. It freezes great and you can add it to soups casseroles etc and will not notice it's there but it add a lot of great flavor. I make huge batches of holy trinity (green bell peppers onions and celery) to keep in my freezer to give me a Jumpstart on meals.
I have just harvest my first 5 french beans, everything else in the garden has been eaten by caterpillars, not got my heiloom tomatoes yet, all my broccoli has been eaten, strawberrys that's a waiting game, thinking indoor undercover shed ...it's not easy is it!
I also don't like celery stalks, but I do love celery root, it tastes amazing compared to the stalks, it's so good in soups, you should totally try it even if it looks a lil intimidating
Have you tried pickling the celery? I cut it into thin strips and use the bread and butter pickle recipe. It's really good. I'm going to try a hot pickle recipe next.
Aah the artichoke! My first artichoke is growing now I can’t wait! Also update us with the celery, I don’t like it either and am growing it for the first time too. I do like them in soups however
I don’t know what preservation methods you use, but if you don’t like raw celery, you can dehydrate it in slices to blend with some salt, or keep on hand to add to soups as a base with onion and carrot. Or juice it and add it to a green smoothie.
Celery is one of those crops that needs assistance to produce an enjoyable experience. Due to its bitter nature it’s ideal to blanch it by voiding it of sunlight. Often times blanching can last two weeks on its own but can be quicker. . Blanching allows the plant to send its energy back into the roots and results in less of the bitterness. There is a process that allows for the best possible outcome. We just have to be open and willing to find it. But if you find your celery inedible, try that.
Your garden is 🔥 Yep, no more celery, egg plant ( even though they were huge ) cherry tomato, radish or mini capsicums. Celery is nice cut, washed and sprinkled with sea salt mmmm. The tops go well in casseroles or vegi stock, maybe even salads.
Cucumber Namasu. Stir fried yellow beans with peppers, zucchini, and firm seared tofu. Add chopped chives as a topping for stir fry when done. Served over hot rice.
How easy was it to grow that artichoke? How much space does it need? Are artichokes perennial or annual in your zone? So many questions, sorry! 😅 Love your channel for all the great inspiration 🙌
It wasn’t hard but you need to vernalize them in colder climates like mine. They’re not supposed to be perennial in 6b but I’ve seen people do it in a cold frame so I’m going to try that this year. They get really big if they can overwinter! 3-4’
@@thecottagepeach 3-4'! Wow! I think I need to find another spot for mine. I would love to grow some to pickle the small buds before they grow huge. I'm in zone 8b, I'm supposed to be able to make it perennial but the last two years it froze. 😔
Honestly the only way I can eat Celery myself, is with peanut butter 🥜 or in a juicer with beets and carrots and an orange 🍊 to cover up its taste lol. 😂
I dont "like" celery either. However, i put it in my soups and stews, and by the time the dish is ready, you can't even tell its celery and gives them such amazing flavor. 😊
This is something I have experienced myself and believe me,it was really effective. Whenever you're out in your Garden, ALWAYS be totally barefoot because our soles love and deserve that freedom. They love to feel various textures of soil between their toes. Apart from n it's very healthy to be barefoot outside. Take for example two plants, one grown inside a pot and tge other grown in Nature. However much you water and use fertilizer, it never looks as healthy as the latter. This is simply because the roots have a limited space to stread and the Nurishment too is the same. The soles of our feet are like the roots of a tree. When you're not barefoot that natural process is obstructed. Our soles are designs to absorb things which are essential to lead a healthy lifestyle. However, use of footwear deprives this process. Apaurt from that there are a large number of Sensors / Nerve endings on the soles of our feet, which connects from head to toe. When we walk on Sand, Gravel and Tiny Stones /Pebbles,our entire body gets stimulated through these sensors. Once again Footwear deprives this natural process. So, go barefoot always for good health and happy feet and soles
Man I'm jealous, here in western WA my garden is pitiful this year, everything is behind, nothing ripe yet at the end of July, I blame our crap weather this year
I didn’t like celery either until i realized it just isn’t for eating raw, it’s objectively superior in a soup. I made some recipe that was a dupe of an Olive Garden soup and I used Swiss chard someone grew too much of instead of spinach and it was great
@@thecottagepeach where I am, they want to munch on all of it 🤣. I even planted right next to my house hoping that would kinda deter them from getting close. Think I'll have to put up a fence.
Easy 30 dollars worth at local market but your varieties is way more.❤ I want to try celery.
Probably closer to 50 here 😳 celery was definitely better homegrown! And it’s easy
I was thinking 50 as well @@thecottagepeach
@@thecottagepeachtry sautéing celery in olive oil with some sweet onion and garlic. Serve as a side to grilled chicken. Delish!
that's crazy, in my homeland this wouldn't be more than 10 dollars
Celery is amazing for stocks! Eating raw leafs maybe a bit too intense, because they are kind of tough and very fragrant.
The crisp sound while you pick or pluck those veggies is so satisfying. I too wish to grow my own veggies. Yours look so fresh, pristine and of course quite wholesome as compared to store bought.
Thank you so much 🤗
All those beautiful celery leaves too... Soooo yummy 😋
I’ll make the most of it!
Celery, cilantro, pineapple, banana and a squeeze of lemon juice and water in a blender. My fave smoothie!
What a beautiful blessed garden ❤️
Your garden looks amazing
It's been a great season so far 😊

@@thecottagepeach wow, thx. I see we have a lot of such flowers but I don't know their importance

What do you do with the peppers or chillies you picked?
Dry some, make hot sauce and salsa, freeze for later, add to stir fries etc
How do you keep rabbits, racoons, squirrels, and deer out of your garden?
