Starting your journey as a new gardener is such an exciting adventure! Growing your own crops may feel intimidating at first, but each seed you plant is a step towards a healthier, more fulfilling life. Watching your plants grow and thrive under your care is one of the most rewarding experiences. Remember, every mistake is just a lesson, and even the smallest harvest is a triumph. You’re not just growing food; you’re growing confidence, connection, and joy. All those on their gardening journey, keep going-you’ve got this!🌱🥬🍅

Where do you live? Every micro climate is different.
      Are you in shade?
      Is your soil sandy?
Can you gather leaves and make a huge compost pile?
Do you have access to water?
How do you plan on watering?
      Where is the sunshine?
      Where is your shade?
We are in solstice. Look outside and chart, photograph where you shade is at 10 am noon, and 4pm.
Compare that to first day of spring and in summertime.
      Keep a garden chart,journal.
      When is your last frost?
Most seed packets say start 6 weeks before planting outside. They say that to sell seeds.
Nature allows the seeds to start when they are ready, and you are almost never late to start seedlings.
Grow what you will actually eat, and don’t be intimidated to not rip something out, if it isn’t working out for you.
Keep records to compare notes from year to year. Pay attention and write down the cold temperatures as well as the highs.
I learned before computers, but you are in the best ages to start gardening!
I am amazed looking at photos from my past gardens, and marvel at the yield and timing. I wouldn’t believed my notes , if not for the accompanying photos!
      You can do it!
Also ask an old timer in your neighborhood what actually grows well in your community.
Volunteer in community gardens to get an education for free!
