Belly slithering in attic pulling out parts for my 99 Carrera 2 ! God must drive one of these, car survived with only a right side mirror glass! Carry on sir! You are doing an incredible job! BTW the oil pump relief piston has been update to incorporate chamfers on leading edge of piston. Very inexpensive part and new spring while you are there, again very inexpensive.

Thank you for the lead on the oil pump relief parts, I will likely address this in this weeks episode Lee Jenkins at Hartech was kind enough to watch today’s video, he went as far as saying that the oil relief valve is the heart blood of the engine, I need to make sure it can move freely. @@ManinaGarage well since I had the cams off replacing the timing rails I started checking the lifters, glad I did some were locked up and so far one was not made properly wasn’t centered, trying to make this short some of the lifters, I was able to take them apart and clean springs check balls and put them back together but I would fill better with new ones because of that one bad lifter that I found, Pelican has new lifters two kinds $25.00 and $ 69.00 times 24 lifters.

      @@richardowens6520 That is great information. Did you purchase any new ones or only clean/refurbish? I would like to avoid the expense of new lifters, perhaps there is a company that can test them? Can you tell by looking at them or poking them if they are functional? Thank you.

    You have to be pretty hardc0re to delete the oil/coolant "cooler" - lots of crazy parts needed. Focus on the oil baffling underneath in the stock pan first.
    PS another great vid, Finn!!!! Love Delta.

    • @ManinaGarage
      @ManinaGarage  2 года назад +1

      Hello Mike, You are absolutely right, even the people that sell the delete say that. They recommend leaving the original style installed and adding an oil cooler through the backflow preventer. They say (Miguel @ TuneRS Motorsports) behind the passenger wheel is a common place to move the cooler for better air flow or if you run Kevlar hoses they recommend running a 3rd radiator at the front of the car. Thats mostly for racers really, it is educational to learn about the various implements people have devised to fix problems or making them more durable in a racing environment. You are 100% on the baffle also 🙌 From the feedback people have been sending, the X51 style baffle is a very popular upgrade even on road cars, that is something I am looking into. For now, a subscriber sent me a baffle to replace the broken one that came with the car. I really appreciate all your feedback Mike, its great to have you looking over my shoulder 🤘😎

    So quick question, Do you think you could do a complete break down, and rebuild up to installation for a living?

    • @ManinaGarage
      @ManinaGarage  2 года назад

      Hello Mike, that’s a good question. It’s expensive to live in this part of planet earth, you would need to complete multiple engines a month to make the math work as a business. There does seem to be a shortage of Porsche engine rebuilders on the west coast? What do you think?

    • @mikebell1961
      @mikebell1961 2 года назад +3

      @@ManinaGarage So here's the reader digest version. You appear to have the Machine Shop issue worked out, the parts supply worked out, but most importantly the F---ing Special tools issue that Porsche requires seems Sorted. Now having said that, very hard to find someone on the west coast who will rebuild a M96 engine without one having to sell a lung or kidney top pay for the privilege of having the engine rebuilt. IT would seem a waist of your new found skills not to parlay this special skill into a little Pizza and Beer Money. I mean you've gone thru the hard part, time to appreciate the fruits of your labor.
      Cheers
      Mike

    • @ManinaGarage
      @ManinaGarage  2 года назад

      @@mikebell1961 Aha! I thought we were talking hypothetical 🤓. For the record, I still feel like a Porsche engine dumbass 😜. I’m not sure if I would trust me to rebuild an engine for money, never mind a customer 😆. I agree that for first gen Carreras the tiny garage is ready to go. When this project is done I will have some solid math to run on, no matter what happens it will be interesting to see how much the whole thing cost plus how much actual labor was required. The videos take much longer to edit than the actual engine work takes to shoot. What part of the world are you in?
