I can't believe he just passed over the Avanti. It was way ahead of its time.
Right there with you! I love love love the Avanti, I always have. The look is so cool!!!
To some people, Classic Cars can only be mainstream..
Ford
GM
CHRYSLER
And some imports..
Ugliest doggone thing ever, but I'm not that pretty either and I'm lovable
My neighbor had a bunch of them. They were ugly cars and yeah they were a head of there time but we're good in there time
It's justme Nor can I believe that he passed over that 1951 Frazier either!.
Reminds me when you could buy a used car for $300, and it would last 10 years.
I honestly thought he broke that tailgate handle for a second there on the blazer.
I did too
Geeking out for a second, the 1929 Cord L29 is the first American FWD car. The toronado was the first for GM though.
thank you! I was trying to remember which older car was FWD before the toronado......
GMC
Used the chassis for a front wheel drive motorhome.
I was going to say that., this guy is more dangerous than somebody who know nothing, he thinks he knows something
"Tahoe LT" was the top trim package on the S-10 Blazer, "Tahoe" was not the model. As to the Blazer, yes the "square body" had the removable roof, but Chevy retained the Blazer name from 1992-1994 on the new GMT 400 chassis Blazer, no removable top. It was renamed "Tahoe" in 1995 and after, but was essentially the same truck, adding a 4 door model.
'29 Cord L-29 was also the first car in the world to have cv joints in the front wheel drive train.
Exciting series I love all the extra history for content. Awesome stuff
At 17:36, the cowl induction on the Chevelle doesn't suck air in to cool the engine, it sucks cool air in to the carburetor to make more power.
Tahoe used to be a package you could get on an S-10. They later used the name to replace the full sized Blazer name. Up to 1992, the full size was still called a Blazer. In 93, they started calling them a Tahoe.
Yep. Same with the S-15. It had a Sonoma package but eventually GMC called it the Sonoma. 🤷
I'd drive the HELL outta that freeway lol....it'd be a blast to run around my small town...gotta run to get groceries? run to the hardware store to get some nuts n bolts or screws? Not to mention EVERYONE in town would know my name/business name.....
Great to see the dealer auction. I would love to see more footage.
6:40 some of those Lincoln Continentals were diesels from the factory. They had a BMW turbo diesel. Great video. diesel was 1984 and 1985 only.
Back in the day, Tahoe was a trim level before it became a model. Someone may have posted this already.
The Flare side truck at the 6:54 mark is a Ford, not Chevy.
Lol yup way better then a chevy
the cowl induction hoods were to feed more cold air to the engine/carburetor not to cool the engine
Actually Craig, one of the first front wheel drive cars was the Cord in the mid '30's (that's 1930's). Toronado first came out in '66, followed in '67 with the Eldorado fwd.
Half of europe was fwd by the 60s time frame as well.
@@andrewmp6 Take a good look at the front clip of the 1966 -67 Oldsmobile Toronado and the 1936-37 coffin nosed Cord 810-812 and tell me what do you see?.
Thanks for sharing this video showing these beauties. One day I own one of these. Glad they are being saved
Those Maseratis with that F1 transmissions or a huge failure for a Maserati, I think they only had that transmission for one or two years before they went to a standard six speed. The problem was is that most people drove that in automatic mode and it wasn’t meant to be driven in automatic mode it was meant to be driven in shift mode and everybody wanted to drive it in automatic mode which then fried the clutch and the clutch replacement is like 10 grand so that’s why they go for dirt cheap money because most of the time the transmissions are slipping or they have problems I had a buddy of mine who bought one and he had nothing but problems with it it would be slipping and acting like it was a neutral all the time and he never shifted it he always put it in auto mode and he had nothing but problems with it because that transmission is junk you canGoogle it and find post after post of people talking about it and it was so bad that Maserati immediately got rid of it and went to a standard six speed. I think this model only had the F one for one or two years if I’m not mistaken.
Another chanel got one that needed a clutch. Think he repaired it with corvette parts n had clutch plate made for about 1 or 2 thousand n he did the work in is driveway. Was interesting to watch
From what I hear that’s most Maserati’s. They’re not very well made
2004-2006 were the Duoselect transmissions. You’re totally correct on the issues and repair costs. Terrible transmissions that are ungodly expensive to maintain and repair. In 2007 they started using the ZF with the “normal” auto trans shifter. MUCH improved. Some 2007+ had paddle shifters but it was an option not standard equipment so they can be tough to find. I’ve had a couple of Quattroporte amd they are gorgeous cars that sound great. Very pretty interiors (if you have the sticky buttons taken care of) but seriously lacking in tech compared to other cars of the same model year. They also don’t ride well unless you throw them into sport mode - they want to “bounce” on the road. Overall there are much better cars for the same or slightly more money.
Absolutely love this video , thank you for all the great details and information.
That tornado is beautiful 🤩
Wicked boat I remember driving one.
That Tornado was a pain to grease the front end when i worked at the oil change place in high school. The front end has like 20 zerk fittings that needed to be greased
That was a Buick Riviera they were designed like that the continentals had long trunks
A lot of them cars bring back memories
14:53 those sticky buttons happen on ferraris too so be prepared if you get an older one to have to deal with them.....
3:57 I see Porsche 944 in the back, very cool car. This is something you should buy for 400$ Ferrari flip
@2:15... But, that yellow '02 Collector's Edition WS6. @7:55... "Tahoe" was a trim level on the S10.
Pretty neat cars cant wait to see these sale
You walked past a Studebaker Avante! A car that had graced the covers of car magazines. And you just kept walking? LOL
At least you stopped for the yellow freeway. It should’ve been re-christened the freak way. LOL
The first American front wheel drive car was the cord l29 of 1929,With the ruxton hitting the market a few months later being the 2nd front wheel drive American car.Cord kept making front wheel drive cars tell 1937 when they closed.A fact that most don't know when preston tucker had problems finding a transaxle for his tucker torpedo,They went to the junkyards and bought up every cord fwd one they had and used them in his cars.
Hey Craig, looked closer at BMW's lately? My X5's have this rubber crap coating from factory as well. Why? Looks like crap once they start getting scratched.
I love going to Motleys, been going there since I was a little boy
Question: I have a 1985 Chevy El Camino with 108k original miles. It’s all original and in fantastic condition. Any suggestions on the best way to sell it for a good price? I’ve had mixed results on eBay so just curious.
Cowl induction Hoods I don't think was to cool an engine it was kinda like a ram air in a way... it would feed cooler air faster than the normal air breather which in turn would give ya a few more ponys to work with
There are quite a few mistakes in this video, but one thing I like about this guy is he's not a pompous ass who acts like a know-it-all. He admits there's stuff he doesn't know, like the Tahoe package on the S10 Blazer. For instance, there is a lot of other stuff about other cars in this video I know nothing about. I'm sure his total knowledge supercedes mine, by a lot.
An Ashtray in the back seat? Yes! Most pre 90 cars had them. Why is this amazing to you? Kids.
Im seriously just waiting for the house flip videos..... Can't wait to see them! Don't wait give us the play by play!!
Can't wait for cottage flipping 101
Bottom Line on Maserati is DEPRECIATION. Cheap Builds. I think they are Intentionally Shooting for people who can't afford a Ferrari. You can only ride JOE WALSH Lyrics So Long. Especially when the Car won't do 185.
I knew a girl who lived in a damn trailer park and drove one of the 4 door Maserati lol.. I haven’t saw the one in the video yet so I can’t say it was the same or not lol
The S 10 Blazer Tahoe LT ( I had a the two tone green and cream color)
Was available like mine with the awesome 4.3 liter high output V6 with outboard oil sump and huge filter
BUY THE FREEWAY!!! I'm geekin'. That thing is so cool! :D
Id like the freeway if its cheap!!! Dad had 1 when i was young, i aways wanted to drive it when i got older but he traded it for something!!!!! I have a feeling its gonna go for more than ya think, but we'll see!!!!!
The first thing I tell any of the kids I work with when they talk to me about buying classic cars is "Don't be afraid to get a car your not in love with because it will grow on you" Everyone wants a 69 Mustang/70 Challenger/72 Chevelle but almost noone has 69 Mustang/70 Challenger/72 Chevelle money so don't be afraid to buy a 73 Mustang/76 Duster/74 Chevelle. One of the guys at work "Wanted 68-72 Nova" and we would talk about it and I always told him to "look for a later model, same car basically but a hell of alot cheaper" then one day he told me that he had a "Finally bought a car" and wanted me to come over and look at it, when I got there there sat a 76 Nova and I chuckled and said "Nice car, Glad you listened huh?" and he said "hell yes, I went to look at a 71 Nova that was a roller, the guy wanted 10k for it and then I saw this on the side of the house, I paid him $2500 for it and drove it home, I may be dumb but I'm not stupid.... for 1/4 of the price of the Nova I thought I wanted I got the Nova I needed and although it's not the Nova I wanted I still have $7500 to make it they way I want it."
I had that exact S10 blazer in maroon! Would love to pick up another one.
I had that as my first car but it was more of a gray and it was super clean with really low miles!
Cool, I would have liked to see the Javelin.
I’d absolutely love to have one of those 2 door Tahoe’s. A buddy has one that he lowered and then put airbags on it and it’s absolutely beautiful!!!
Jeez. I can tell a 73 Mustang from a 71 or 72 because of the funky front bumper.
the hottest think in classic cars is trucks. skip over the bronco, blazer and Land Cruiser and go get an International Harvester Scout. still cheap, cool looking and takes engine swaps easily.
Would have liked to have heard you mention prices for any of those cars you previewed.
Was the SS 396 a 325, 350, or 375 hp makes a big difference or did when I was growing up running them in my 64 goat
Pontiac for the win!
I love the paint color on that '67 Camero.
30th Anniversary TBird. Not many of those left.
You was talking about the 68 Olds Tornado being the first American car to be front wheel drive. If you look farther back the car I believe was America's first front wheel drive car was the 36 Cord 810. I might be wrong.
The Chevrolet S-10 blazer Tahoe is a trim package. Just like Tahoe , Sport and Base models.
After seeing that 396 Chevelle with the 4-speed, I have no idea what other cars you showed us today.
This is such a great video! I'd love to make a living buying and selling cars like these.
Craig I was watching the review of the Maserati and saying to myself, please please show us that 1970 Chevelle SS396. You did not disappoint. I'm currently restoring mine that is my very first car I bought at 16. I still have it all these years later. I was cracking up when you mentioned the hood pins. From the factory there was still a traditional hood latch. My car had a fiberglass hood and the factory hood latch was removed. I was washing my car one day and my carburetor was acting up. I had to manually open the choke to start it up. So once I was done washing it, I went to drive it around to dry it off. I forgot the hood pins and my hood flew open, pulled the bolts out of the hood and the hood flew up and over the car. Luckily it landed shiny side up. My dad and I fixed the hood and got it back on the car until I could get a new factory style steel hood. FYI, that car did not have factory air, air cars have 2 vents above the heater controls instead of the plate that says Chevrolet.
Did you buy it new.
@@Batman-wv5ng no I wasn't even alive when it was new. I bought it very used in 1993 with a knock in the motor and a screaming rear end. The car had been set up for drag racing. My dad and I did a mechanical restoration and made the car more streetable. We removed the 6 pt roll cage, took out the 4.56 gears and swapped in 3.73's and replaced the ladderbar suspension with stock control arms. Now I'm having a full frame off restoration done in memory of my dad.
@@ryanjohnson8821 Ok sorry.
@@Batman-wv5ng thank you. My dad did buy a brand new triple black 1970 Monte Carlo SS454. You can see where I got my love for cars.
@@ryanjohnson8821 If you have it today they worth lot of money , and beautiful car.
I would love that 75 Grandville droptop. I had a powder blue with the white top
Great video all those cars looked fantastic
Very beautiful amazing looking cars perfect thanks friend
Be careful with “ cheap “ expensive cars
The metal will still rust under the clear I can agree with repainting but the original sheet metal is sacred
I had a 1972 Blazer that had the full removable top. You needed like 4 or so guys to take that thing off. TBH I would have been happier to have the top like that one. It just wasnt worth it to remove that top that prob weighs about 200 lbs lol.I know Im late but what a great video
Did the follow up videos to this auction get posted? I can't find them.
1966 was the first Toronado. The 1937 Cord was front wheel drive!
The S-10 blazer you're referring to. The Tahoe name started as a top of the line package like the name Silverado. Then was changed to the name of the vehicle.
Loving this one thanks for sharing very information blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work do you have any saab cars and trucks 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
It would have been nice to have the sold price like a before and after it's alot of work I know .
Did that “suburban trailer” behind the suburban have living quarters in it or what? Why would you edit that out!!
No. Empty trailer
A “Donk” is often used erroneously to describe any old custom vehicle with big rims. A “donk” is technically the nickname for a customized 1971-76 Chevrolet Caprice or Impala. I know you were disappointed that the Camaro was an auto, but the manuals had 305’s while the autos had 350’s.
A DONK is a piece of crap!
It actually stemmed from putting 23" wheels (or bigger) on anything. In the game Donkey Kong the primate threw 55 gallon barrels at Mario. 55 gallon barrels are 23" around.
20" wheels were called twankies (mixture of twenty and twankle, aka twinkle), 22" were twanky twos and anything bigger was dubbed (
@@sparkplug2646 That s your opinion. The market is actually huge for that particular car.
A lot of those cars bring back memories.
I thought the suburban on a suburban was the coolest ride there.
Great video Thanks for sharing. New subscriber here from Philadelphia PA
did the thunderbird have IRS ?
That blue Caddy is 55, NOT A 56, looks rather beat, i had a 56, the grill was differant! other wise pretty much the same, 57 had a complete body change! a real smoth ride! like driving down the road in your front room chair!
The Cadillac looked pretty good. It’s a 1955 not a 1956.
I think my uncle had a full-size blazer like that when I was a kid. I I closed the rear hatch with window up n it shattered. My uncle said I was supposed to crank window down when opening n closing tailgate door or the glass brakes. Did he lie to me. I felt so bad n scared of the trouble I'd get in for breaking window. Any one else break rear window on the blazer?
Without prices you don't know what's affordable.
Btw it’s not called donkers. It’s called a Donk but a Donk is a 71-76 Chevy impala or Caprice
The first-generation Camaro debuted in September 1966
Hi Greg could you help me find a Trans Am? Looking for one from 78-81. Please let me know. Thanks, Tim
Should of called out the prices on cars outside when u went threw them
There are front wheel drive
Do the Mec SEC what did it sell for?
Great video Craig
Donk is short for donkey, because the impala sign looks like donkey. If its not an impala its not a donk.
I thought donk was when you added the huge rims
@@douglasfowler2899 I did too
How can I get notices of these auctions?
Auburn cord Indiana front wheel drive it must be the hair dye and I'm not sure that's the first front-wheel drive car but I think it is
1980'S T-Birds had a Bad Rep. And is WHY there aren't many out there. Especially the 4 CYLINDERS THEY CAME OUT WITH were TOTAL junk
My buddy had a early 90’s one with a v8 in it that was a absolute monster. It was that ugly flip flop purple blue and green I think but under the hood was crazy!
He didn’t mention that the quattroporte had two transmissions- the nightmare Ferrari type F1 transmission and then the reliable ZF torque converter auto
Damn that 2 door tahoe 😍😍
Funny I’ve owned a Tahoe ever since my first. 1981 s15 Tahoe by Chevy run into one of those some time
Love your videos man
Very Good!...
For how many jeeps you sell. idky you didn't spend anytime in that older mint jeep. would of been nice for you to go over what one was like.
I really liked that jeep too!
That 56 Cadillac looks like the car that mrs. Downey drove in the episode of chips LOL great looking cars where's this auction at? And thanks for the video
That was an S10 blazer Tahoe was a trim level
The 1966 Olds Toronado was the first to have front wheel drive. I know this because my older brother bought one new. He only drove it sparingly as a second car believing that it would only grow in value.
Cord had FWD in the 30s I believe the first American car with FWD. The Oldsmobile had higher production numbers
396 and 454 are both Mark 4 big blocks. Same dimensions and pretty much the same weight.
Funny how he dogged the 210 hp 1980 TA but really liked the either 110 hp 3.8 or 140 hp 302 T-bird.
What is the brown car at 7:04 that thing is beautiful
Put fire extinguisher in the back seat
What prices did they go for!! That’s what we want to know
