So I will share a different perspective. I used Qmerit to install an outdoor 240V outlet for an EV at a house I have in the mountains. Through Qmerit I got connected to an installer, despite my being in a very rural area. This person was also installing several Level 3 DC fast chargers for car dealers in the major city in the region. Professional and knowledgeable and did a great job.

We used Qmerit for our recent ChargePoint EVSE installation. Their local contractor for us (State Electric in Michigan) not only was the most knowledgeable of all the ones I spoke to, their quote was also the lowest! They did a great job, and were super professional. Can't recommend Qmerit enough based on our experience. (And we gave them a shot thanks to you, Tom!)

I had a good experience with the installation of my Juicebox 40 through Qmerit by the certified electrician. However, they did not offer an optional annual safety and service plan at the time of installation. After seeing this video, I called and double checked and they claimed not to offer such a plan. They do have a one year warranty for installation. I hope in the future, such a safety and service plan will be offered.

Although the delivery of my Lyriq is in the future (who knows how long 😡), I am looking into having my home power connection installed.
In doing this I have been monitoring Cadillac forums and the consensus there is that Q-Merit does a good job, but since the local Qmerit installers know that Cadillac owners are going to be receiving $1,500 toward the installation, they price the job way above the local rate, in effect pocketing the GM money. For many it was hundreds of dollars less expensive to pay a non-Qmerit licensed and EV experienced electrician out of pocket for the installation and use the GM money to purchase the wall unit. I am willing to pay a LITTLE extra to have a seamless installation process, but not to the excesses that are being reported.
I know that Qmerit certifies their local “partners” and the installers have to recover those costs, but somebody at the Qmerit corporate level needs to address the price gouging that is going on.
Tom, you might want to speak to Qmerit about this since you are associating your good name with their service.

I'm in the midst of a QMerit install through Chevy's free program with bolt purchase. It's going fine so far, qmerit connected me with a local electrician and the quote was reasonable for the work i thought. I'm on the schedule so we'll see how it turns out.
However, despite my fine experience, I'm going to echo others concerns with this sponsorship. There are a lot people who have had bad experiences. Tom is highly trusted and I'd hate to see that eroded via a such a strong and prolific endorsement of a company that clearly has issues.

I know there are people that have had bad experiences, Qmerit is a nationwide network of electricians and it's natural for some to be better than others, But Qmerit does weed out the bad apples and cuts them out of the network if they get too many complaints from them. They actually keep getting better every year and their customer surveys support that. Their satisfaction score keeps improving as they refine the network and put better safeguards in place to assure better customer satisfaction.
I didn't jump into this partnership without doing my due diligence. Also, as I've said, I have dozens of messages and emails from my followers that thanked me for introducing them to Qmerit.

Hi Tom. I have a reservation for a Rivian R1S. I was really excited and glad that they do home delivery since I don’t want to travel into NYC (Brooklyn) to pick it up. I live very close to you in NJ and I am being told I have to be more than 3.5 hours away to be eligible for home delivery. In a previous video you questioned if you were treated differently since you have a RUclips channel. I would say after my experience so far that you are right about that. I tried to tell them that Brooklyn is 3.5 hours from me and they said 45 miles is too close for home delivery right now. I offered to go to a mall in Edison NJ or anywhere in NJ that they prefer to pick up the vehicle. I was told they just can not accommodate me. Why don’t they have a place for deliveries in NJ? They are telling me I have 7 days to pick it up or I loose the car! I told them I run a large organization and don’t have many hours in a day to make that trip in and out of Brooklyn. I am not trading a car so I need to find a person to drive me. My wife and kids are not an option! I’m actually likely going to loose this car. Seems crazy to me and I just wanted you to know you were right about you getting very special treatment from the Brooklyn service center! Thank you for the great videos and all the interesting content!

Thanks for the large amount of information you provide in your videos. I am currently in the que for a Cadillac Lyriq and have been hosting electricians to install EV charging stations in our community deeded parking spaces. I am the President of our community and am seeking installation for two parking spaces, but also looking to the future for many more across our three buildings.
I contacted Qmerit but they immediately wanted $500 deposit before they would send out an electrician. So I am getting quotes from local licensed electricians, then may pursue the Qmerit electricians.
No other electrical companies require money before they come out. This is a turn off in my opinion dealing with Qmerit. Is it because they know Cadillac provides up to $1500 rebate?

I just received my first bid through Qmerit. It seems I need a custom installation (not the standard one Chevy pays for completely) from the breaker panel in my basement to my attached garage. The bid is $2661, which seems quite high when I have 200 amp service & space on the breaker panel. I am supposed to accept or decline, instead of receiving competing bids from which to choose! If I decline this bid, I have no idea if I will receive a lower bid from another contractor. The contractor is an 80-mile round trip from me. My town of 16,000 must have qualified contractors, & a city of 68,000 25 miles from me must have a dozen or more.

Horrible some electricians will try to rip you off because they think if you own an EV, you can afford a huge markup. I followed your recommendation to get "Qmerit" to install my EVSE, and after getting an estimate and putting a deposit through their website, they referred me to a local Qmerit authorized installer. Unfortunately, the bid was extremely higher than the Qmerit website estimate. I cancelled the order and had a local electrician do the install. It was a pain to cancel and get my deposit back from Qmerit. This felt like a bait and switch. If Qmerit is going to partner with local installers, they should not provide an installation estimate and require a deposit upfront. If they do continue that practice, the local electrician needs to honor the Qmerit quote.

I used Qmerit because I got a Chevy Bolt, and they came free with the car.
My experience was awful. The electrician they sent out had no idea what he was doing. Originally put a 30 amp breaker in. I had to explain the NEC continuous load rule to him. He insisted that a 30 amp breaker would work. He installed it and left. Of course the breaker would trip when my 32 amp charger would start charging.
It took weeks to get him back out. Qmerit was no help. Finally his boss came out to check it out and confirmed it was wrong. Turns out the original guy just didn’t have a 40 amp breaker on him and didn’t want to go to the store to get one. That laziness also explains why the install was so sloppy. For the conduit it was just flex and not rigid. There wasn’t bends or reasons not to use rigid outside of laziness. Circuit and my panel were on the same wall.
I’ll never recommend Qmerit or the subcontractor they sent out.
