I went out to target a new species for my list, and succeded! Link to my Race for Life page : fundraise.canc... Link to the Tronixpro Crimp Booms : christchurchan...
Ok Tom, here's 3 species that you probably haven't thought of targeting. 1) Weaver ( used to get them on ragworm and sometimes amazingly even live Sandeel off Bournemouth pier 2) ready.....don't get too excited Smelt , used to also catch loads of Bournemouth pier in the 70s when I was about 10 on size 10vhooks and 5mm of ragworm 3) steady now.....don't get too excited...silver eels...Hamworthy and Baiter near the freshwater outlets. PS I now live in New Zealand but love your channel. I fished every mark that you show on your channel (sea and river Stour ) back in the 70s and 80s when I lived in Mooredown. GREAT CHANNEL love your self depreciating humor mate 😂
Hi Andy. I shall add all three of those to my target list. I like a challenge! I hope you're still fishing over there? I have friends and family in New Zealand and the fishing looks amazing!
Thanks Tom, yes still fishing but the sea fishing is "too easy" ! So I've switch to dry fly fishing in streams for trout. I say fishing, but it's mainly swearing at tress, bushes and rocks 😊 !! But just love the clean trickling streams, reminds of the lower end of the Muscliffe free stretch of the Stour where I cut my teeth on Chub, Dace the odd Barbel, the odd Perch, a few Pike, Roach, Gudgeon and even one Brown Trout. 😊 Variety is the spice of life 😊
Last night I fished gilkicker, Gosport. I nearly always have one rod out only a few yards for the bass. Last night I pulled it in to literally a couple of feet. I was still catching dogfish. But last cast on black lug I caught a rockling. 😁. I was so happy. Keep up the good work.
Hi tom great video as always best tutorial video's on you tube well done on the rockling fished the far end of avon beach last week but only 1 doggie and a few pesky crabs 🦀 but hopefully out again this week.stay safe and tight lines look forward to next video
Hmmm, I'm not sure the prototype could cope with the power of rockling. Nothing has replaced booms as such, we've just stopped using them. I think, with fishing continually evolving, the need (or want) to fish for things like rockling has waned.
Always a good day when you upload Tom. i like your attention to detail. all the myth busting you do aswell with regards to distance fishing and the amount of bait needed (like your ray videos) no one else is showing this. video of a tpur of your shop woukd be cool. i am in cornwall amd want to fish up by you soon. so will have to pop in.
Thanks for the kind words, mate. I do love to debunk the Facebook myths that everyone seems to blindly follow these days. Be great to see you in the shop if you're around our neck of the woods.
I'd like to see you add a Lesser Weever fish to your species list. The UK rod record is only 3oz 4dr. Please proudly hold the weever fish up to camera in the hand that grasps my pocket money when I buy ragworm from you.
Can I leave my car in the car park overnight? As if fished and travelling from Milton Keynes, it would be brilliant if I could 😊 Any advice greatly appreciated 👏

Amazing!!! Well done, mate. Who needs pesky bass when you have rockling?
Great stuff as usual.... another one of my nemesis', 5 bearded 😅..... your comments about species hunting are spot on, of course. ❤
Coming from the Species Master himself, thank you.
I wonder if we miss out on the 5 beards due to simply over casting on most beaches?
@@FishyTom I'm sure you're right. And it's not just 5 beardeds we prob miss through over casting and using baits/hooks that are unnecessarily large.
I usually am. Just ask Abby.
@@FishyTom🤣 I'd rather avoid stirring that pot, thank you. I hope to be down in April. A wel ome party with staffs and pikes was not my intention. 😳
🤣🤣
Look forward to seeing you mate. I trust there'll be a "hit list" for us to get our teeth into?
What a superbly different approach to RUclips videos - loved it Tom! More fun than you should be allowed!
It was far more fun than I expected! Very enjoyable. I shall do more of these for sure!
Top film, no information on Rockling on Google... So thank you Tom.
Have fished for flounder like that.
Yes! I've had flounders incredibly close, just a few feet out. Always amazes me who close you can catch them.
Hi tom great video as always best tutorial video's on you tube well done on the rockling fished the far end of avon beach last week but only 1 doggie and a few pesky crabs 🦀 but hopefully out again this week.stay safe and tight lines look forward to next video
Thanks Paul. Glad you enjoyed it. Good luck when you're out this week 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Good to see the fun side of fishing with the target species caught Tom. 👏🐟
It was a real fun little session mate.
Thanks Tom
No worries, good luck when you get out next.
Thanks Tom great video 😊
Thanks for watching. 😊
Well done on species 29!
Thank you mate.
Well done Tom Target achieved 👍
Thanks mate. Got to love a slug!
Is this a missed opportunity for the “prototype rod” ?
What has replaced booms?
Brilliant as always👍

Well done sir tight knickers
Thanks mate

Well done on the target mate, has actually inspired me to try my hand at a species hunt
Great news! It's a whole lot of fun! Good luck with it.
The angling trust one has started the applications for next year's, which starts in April. It's good fun and free.
Thanks for posting Tom, can we expect to see you doing some LRF to bolster your species count?
Absolutely! Already planned a little trip out with the light gear.
Well done Tom, 👏 did well to land that monster pal 😮
I was impressed with myself. I have a sore back now though.
@@FishyTom 🤣🤣🤣
I caught one last cast at southbourne on monday... it made a change from the whiting lol
Brilliant. I do think they're far more interesting than whiting!
great stuff to so simple yet satisfying
Absolutely that mate. I really enjoyed that little session.
Congratulations, target achieved!!
That was good, something different.
Thanks matey. Was really enjoyable to do to be fair. Look forward to a few more little sessions like this.
Fair play lad never new that 👏
Thanks
Nice film Tom as usual. Any bass around the area?
There's the odd one or two. The crabs have just started to moult, so they'll be back in hunting those very soon.
Good to see the number 29 the hat today was like a glowing pink on camera have you uv coated it tom 😅
I haven't! But that's a great idea! I'll look into that... 😅😅
Got to love slugs!!....apart from odd Whiting and Haddock thats about all we get up Yorkshire way 😂😂
I love the little things! They're so cool in their own right.
@@FishyTom I move my camera in closer and say I've caught a 35lb cat from France 🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Genius! Why didn't I think of that.
If you're planning a dirty weekend away with Darren, you really should upgrade the wardrobe...😘
Nice Rockie though..😀
🤣🤣
Maybe he's into the homeless look.
That was quite a big rockling I thought. What’s the next species on the list ?
It was a fair length hey! Maybe I should have weighed it for my pb list! 🤔
Not sure what's next. Might go mini hunting somewhere for a change.
@@FishyTom catch a sand eel on a hook challenge 😂 that would be impressive for a mini species
That would be an achievement!

Well, I'll try to add one to my list, but not sure about the holding it in my hand bit!
Can I leave my car in the car park overnight? As if fished and travelling from Milton Keynes, it would be brilliant if I could 😊
Any advice greatly appreciated 👏
I'm not 100% sure on that, to be honest. I can't see it being a problem, as long as you're not sleeping in it, maybe?
OK thanks, I will try and contact the parking people directly and ask them and see what they say...fingers crossed 😊
Tom when you come over don’t forget your passport 😮 and don’t bring your man flu with you 😂
🤣🤣
I'm looking forward to it mate. Having my jabs done tomorrow.
Tom, dressed as a homeless guy in a pink hat 🤦♂️, definitely get taken home by someone ..
🤣🤣
The men in white coats are coming.
