To say I am obsessed with fishing would be an understatement!
I fish every week, of every month and in every type of water. I am lucky enough to live on the south coast where the diversity of fishing is endless, as you will see in my videos.
I hope you enjoy the videos, they are aimed at being fun and lighthearted, but with a healthy dose of tips and tricks along the way to hopefully help you catch fish too!

Wow Tom didn't them funny little smoothounds spoil the stingray session , god it was so boring (NOT) LOL , great fishing , hope Mrs Boss is good , and I shall be using them bagnel bar rigs this weekend can't wait , Unfortunately My grandson passed away just over a year ago and it knocked me sideways , but my son and I will go fishing again this weekend first time in a year , thx to your brilliant videos you've giving my son and I the zest to go again 💙, sorry couldn't find a pink heart lol lol , take care Tom to u and Mrs boss and the family x
Grest video! Looking to get out and target a mullet, Are we able to order stuff from you guys to be posted?
A quick question on fishing with pop-ups in general - and excuse my inexperience, as it may be a stupid question, but is there much point in doing it once the sun goes down, or are all the fish you might reasonably target with this method tucked up in bed? I've seen it used for bream, mackerel, scad etc, which I thought fed better before the sun went down. I suppose the question really is - when it gets dark, do I switch to a rig with my bait on the bottom, or do I persevere with the pop-ups?
Right, for starters that's not a stupid question, it's a brilliant question, thank you. You are very nearly absolutely right... with a slight exception, and a slight rethink of why we use pop ups. If we are genuinely "popping up" a bait, so lifting it off the bottom to fish midwater or near the top, then this is usually done in daylight and dusk. The main exception to this is scad fishing, these feed right through the night. Their large eyes are a dead giveaway to their hunting habits. When I am scad fishing I will always use a glow in the dark pop up, and usually a small glow in the dark bead on the hook too (the Toho greens in a size 3 are perfect!), twitching is essential too. The other thing to think about is why we're using a pop up. In this video I made a bream rig and I'm using the pop ups to add movement and visual attraction. The bait is unlikely to be lifted off the bottom becuase of the size of the hook, bait, line etc, but it will waft around enticingly in the water. Movement is really important for many species, such as bream. With this in mind, there's absolutely no reason why you wouldn't continue to use them in darkness. I hope that has made sense and answered your questions.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 An excellent answer - many thanks.
Another great vid Tom…Love it 👏❤️🎣 I’m heading down to Sandbanks next week. Don’t have the time to bait fish but will take my light spinning rod and a bad full of metals and plastics. Anywhere worth visiting for 2-3hrs…? Thankyou….
Hi mate. Yes, the Sandbanks chain ferry area is fishing very well for bass, mackerel and scad on lures! Well worth a visit. I'd probably avoid peak busy times, so if possible an evening or early morning session.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 thanks so much Tom, much appreciated 👍🎣
No probs mate. Best of luck when you're down.
Bracklesham Bay ,last Tuesday. I had two ,the guy next to us had ten. 3pm high tide we fished two hours flood and two ebb down .... Great sesh !!!! Sqid and rag
Great session mate! Well done 😁
Enjoyed that Tom. And I know what you mean by hating being watched when you fish. You should try playing a 4lb thick lip in Padstow harbour with 40 people behind you - I can assure you it's extremely unpleasant!
Oooh, that doesn't sound like a fun experience! I do try and avoid fisihng anywhere near members of the public! The problem with mullet is they do seem to really like public places! 😣
Well there is another one of my questions answered. Cheers dude. ✌️
Cracking vid as usual Tom, great job finding the hounds. Just wondering if you're selling the T-shirts and caps?
Thanks, mate. I will be selling both at some point soon. I'll make a song and dance about it once they're ready, I'm sure!
What a quick session that was. Nice one dude!
Thanks dude. It was actually filmed over a 5 day period, cleverly edited together to look like it was only a couple of hours and I am in fact a fish catching demi-god.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 Demi-God rhyms, specifically, with "you ...."! 🎣
love it well done tom💪
Thanks mate. 👍
Nice session! But what IS that t shirt? I LOVE IT. ...
Aha, that's my new logo! Having a slight rebrand of the channel (not the shop!). I'll be doing hats, t-shirts etc to sell in the coming months.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 Awesome 👌 Really nice choice - logo looks great. Will be buying a few bits when available 👍
Thank you 😊
Great film, many thanks for posting. What length of rods are you using there please .....if that's not secret ?
Nothing is a secret on my channel. Apart from the secret bits, of course. Both of these rods are 14ft (or 4.3m). That is my general go to length for my beach fishing.
Loving the videos Tom. I went to Lepe to try for a few pesky hounds last week, but no luck. Could you point me to a spot for them please? Cheers Doug.
You weren't wrong with Lepe to be fair. The problem with hounds is they run through in packs and move about a lot. There'll be loads one night, none the next. So a good dollop of luck is always needed. I'd leave the Solent alone this week though. The bigger tides will make the weed horrendous :-(
Great vid Tom and well angled. Never heard them called silver dogfish before lol, but they are great fun on light gear and we have been very lucky with the lack of weed so far, any ideas why?
Thanks mate. I think sadly we've spoken too soon though. Just a few days after I fished the whole Solent became pretty unfishable because of weed! Think I'll wait until the smaller tides are back.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 do you think all the winter rain washed the nitrates etc from the fields to the sea so the weed has less to use to grow? Just a theory and also why so many straps around, I have never caught so many in all my 45 years fishing.
Cheers Tom … Awesome way to spend an evening 👍🎣🎣
It sure was. Can't beat a summer evening with screaming reels!
What a fantastic evening's fishing. Do you offer a guiding service at all ?
I don't I'm afraid. Sorry. Just a lack of spare hours in my week with everything else I do!
Awesome video again mate and well done on the hounds 💪 🎣 👍🏻
Thanks Ian 😊
Enjoyable little flick yet again matey, you're really getting the hang of the editing and filming!
Cheers dude. Appreciate that. There's actually a fait bit of time and effort goes into these!
Awesome mate, thank you for sharing, I haven't really ever had a session like that where the rods are just going mad every 5 minutes, so it's great to see that it can happen, and on rag too, did you manage any more fish into dark, or did you pack it in👍🎣🎣
Hey dude. I actually just packed up. I figured I'd had a really great session already, and meant I got home at a sensible hour, so wasn't too grumpy in the morning! Win win.
Ah Tom what a beautiful evening and some lovely hounds too!!! 😊 Such an enjoyable video I was smiling all through it!!! Well done mate cheers Ian Ps… I always remember my headlamp but don’t always remember to charge it which is even more frustrating 😂😂😂
Thanks mate 😁 I can't believe I forgot my lights! I honestly can't remember the last time I did that! What a plonker.
Another very insightful video Tom, just a quick question re the SG2 is it the ultra light game rod and could it also be used for some light mackrel spinning from rocks or the beach if conditions permitted
Yes. It's rated 3-15g, so suitable for anything that involves chucking lures in that bracket really. I've used it for chub and perch fishing on the river. I've yet to chuck light jigs for mackerel, but I bet it would be a joy.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 Thanks Tom do you stock this rod?
I have another batch due in this week mate.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 thanks Tom i may well pop in what willthe price point be any idea?
They're £95 mate. Which, for such a wonderful rod, I think is a bargain!
Going to watch this in a bit, popped in today with my daughter thanks for the selection of mullet spinners and setting them up for me and the special mullet spinning rod, you have a lovely shop there with a great selection 👍🏻😉
Hi mate. Was great to meet you today. Your daughter is an absolute star. Best of luck when you're out next.

@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 🤣🤣🤣
Well done buddy
Thank you my lovely.
Great video! Do you think the same idea would work at Bracklesham Bay in Chichester? Is it best at high tide?
I can't see why not mate. You can get a good run of hounds there too. I'd probably suggest a short session up to high on a smaller tide at the moment. There's a lot of weed around in the Solent making the bigger tides pretty unfishable.
Ok thanks for your help, I will give it a go. 👍
Thank you for the advice, my fishing mad 11 year is very happy! We caught our first smooth hounds this evening. The biggest being 7 lb. 👍
Fantastic mate. Really glad to hear that. They are such awesome things to catch.
Unlucky on the stinger hunt mate.
Pfft. Any idiot can catch stingers
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 Ur absolutely right lol 🤣🤣
Is this a particularly good year for the hounds Tom? So many being caught along my Kent coastline.
Certainly seems to be, mate. I've not really put much time into them over the last couple of years, but have really enjoyed it this year. There aren't many things that pull back as hard as they do. The fact they often move through in shoals means you can have a really awesome session without grinding out a load of hours!
Cracking fish
Thanks 😁
Oh dear, what a shame, never mind! 🤣🤣🤣
It was awful mate. Ruined the session 🤣🤣
just gonna watch this now but the title made me laugh, i wish i had that problem, popped in your shop earlier grabbed a few bits, great shop you have great selection
Thanks mate 😁

Thanks for watching 👍
Hi Tom can you put one back for me please when they come in and some line hooks and spinners
No probs mate
Tom you're such a good role model gonna get a poster of you in my bedroom 😋 Only joking! Seriously though; I enjoy your easy going simple fishing 💪
🤣🤣 thanks mate. I always wanted to be a pin up poster boy.
Did you see country file on Sunday showed all the work they are doing up at Hengistbury head very interesting and must be a good thing long term for anglers.
I didn't mate! I'll have to find that on the iplayer. From what I've seen, I'm not sure it'll have a flat top though, so could be difficult to fish from. Hopefully I'm wrong though.
Such a good channel you have Tom. I particularly like the way you explain how you construct your chosen rigs 👍🏻
Thank you mate, appreciate the positive feedback 😊😊
@christchurchanglingcentre5428 Mega easy?? If only Tom. Though you make it look mega easy. Fingers crossed i can hopefully catch me a bass this year. Keep the videos coming Tom. 👍
It's all about being in the right place at the right time, that's the real skill of beach fishing. A bit of luck doesn't go amiss either!
How on earth did you get to that mark? Did you take a boat?
No, you can walk there from the car park.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 Which car park?
Sums up our summer so far.. I use the word summer loosely
Summer? Fiddlesticks! Have I missed it? What day was it on this year?
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 I vaguely remember a 60-72 hour period early June? Almost missed it, the bookies made a killing.. I have learnt so much this year about circle hooks from you, I must buy some more and larger! Cheers as always
72 hours? You lucky bugger! The more I use circles, the more I learn. I really do love using them now.
Short sessions all the way.
Yes! Gets my vote every time.
Hi Tom can you tell me where I can get the savage gear rod you use thank you love the videos and what price 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
Hi Keith. We normally stock these, but are out of stock (they sell very quickly!). They are due back in before the end of the month though. They're £95, which is a bargain for such a beautiful rod. I do have the shorter version in stock at the moment.
Hi Keith, if you were still interested in a rod I have had my delivery now, so plenty in stock again :-)
Hi Tom, unfortunately living so far away from the coast, tend to fish tide up tide down 6hrs ish, just one rod and rucksack mostly, it has my full attention as don't need to be constantly baiting up, looking forward to coming down your way again soon, you've just demonstrated the diversity of fishing you have around Christchurch very enjoyable to watch, many thanks Tom
It's all about maximising your fishing opportunities. I'm very lucky, being so close to the sea, I can drop in and out as I please. Hopefully see you again soon on your next outing.
nice short session after work just what's needed after a busy day at graft! what's that tray on your tripod m8
That was a bucket system I designed a few years back. Sadly another "copycat" company ripped it off, badly, and killed the product. I didn't run a second batch so there's none available 😕
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 looks good & deep , shame someone had to rip it off !
