Always a pleasure watching a star of the beach in action. I do think a bell would have heightened the experience. I can’t wait for the next instalment…The hunchback of Southbourne beach …. the bells, the bells🔕☘️
I honestly don't know! That was mad! Spent about 10 minutes inspecting my hooks afterwards trying to find an excuse! All seemed fine! Maybe it was a mermaid pulling on my line.
Beautiful evening, plenty of info.. as always and some nice catches . Was that an old Viper GT Phil was using? Not many rods that bright. Just rediscovering my old 4.5 Viper, be careful what you throw out!
Hi Tom great vid with comedy value. I also have neglected South Bourne this year, I usually travel up from lee on Solent for a session and fish near Warren edge. Don't know the area that well but without giving away any secret marks where did you fish and what time was high tide. Thank you.
No secrets to my fishing mate, so you're always welcome to ask. This session was about 6 or 7 bays west of the bistro slope. There's a zigzag called Gordon's Zig Zag, but it's a killer walk back up! To be honest Warren's Edge, Gordon's, Fisherman's Walk, Portman Ravine and Manor Steps are all very similar, and areas I frequent. I'm happy to do any of those. I don't worry too much about tide times, in fact I don't actually know what it was when we fished, I just don't bother looking. I know the conditions were perfect, so I knew I'd catch. That's more importnant along that bay than tide times.
@@FishyTom Thank you, looking ahead to next weekend we have a blow all week the dry and winds swing to to he north, if it stays like that I will give it ago at Gordon's slope. Thank you. Tite lines. Simon.
Have you fished poole quay? I was there with my feeder rods and and some wrass a big bream And a small bass tho some kid next to me had a good eating size bass that i had to net as he didn't have 1 Nice relaxing video 🎉
Hi Tom, great session very enjoyable watching. If I may ask a bit of advice, I've managed to get some time off so coming down in a couple of weeks, have I missed the chance of a underlate off Hirst spit or is it to late in the year? Sorry to bother you but chances to fish the area don't come along to often n would like to make the best of it, many thanks a Tom
Its about time you and Shane hook up for a session at each others marks. Tom your Mr Southbourne and Shane your Mr Poole harbour. If you lads can do a session together.. Tom there will be a roast dinner dropped off that night at which venue off your choice ! You and Shane can let me know what protein you want ! Tofu is not a option
@@rickphillips5098roast dinner again what a legend .im sure i will catch up with Tom but the man’s a fishing machine on the beach 🤣,plenty of time for a meet up ,im sure
Great videos as always...where you are using a three up rig - how did you keep the snoods long without having a 9 ft rig body? Is the last one dropper set up like the Pompey loop with a cascade swivel? Also I assume these aren't glue rigs?
@@FishyTom ahh…I thought it was three up. I tried out glue rigs based on your video and they work great for my pop ups rigs but weren’t sure if they would be up to the job for bigger fish. I ran out of the Tronnix Glue (spilt it!) and bought another make and it’s no way as good. Buy cheap, pay twice!
@thegrumpyblenny glued rigs are stronger than stop knots and crimps. I use them for everything from pouting to hounds and even big eagle rays in South Africa. Definitely not a small fish only set up, mate.
Definitely wet ones 😝 In all seriounsness, conditions are far more important than the actual tide times on Southbourne. This week has been perfect, bit of a blow last week, new moon, mid sized tide (I know, I just said that didn't matter! lol) etc etc. Evenings always out fish day sessions too. We fished a club match last night and it was even better than this session. Best Small Eyed went 9lb 1oz, best sole 1lb 5oz (neither mine, I must add!).
Great video, I learn so much watching your videos! Caught my first ray tonight. An undulate ray at 8lb 6oz. Thanks for the help 👍
That's an awesome first ray! Well done 😁😁
A good nights fishing is a great excuse to be late for work. Well done.
This is true! Fishing is more important than work.
Brilliant video as ever Tom. Learn such a lot from your commentary 👍🏻
Thank you, Chris 😀
Great watch thanks Tom top angling 😊

You are my inspiration, sir. I shall don my Quasimodo suit for my next outing.
Well done mate 3 species of ray well done!!!
Nice to see some sole too!!!
All the best cheers Ian
I managed a small undulate last night too. 4 species in two sessions. Lovely jubbly!

You’re on fire mate!!!!
Love an undulate ray!!!!🎣👍
It was only a baby, but a beautiful fish nonetheless.
Phil with the Southbourne lightsaber rod . Great vid chaps 👍

Well done Tom on ya session . All the best from GRIMSBY
Cracking session , love the rays and the soul best catch had to be the pb marlin 😂
See you on the next one 🎣😎👍🏼
Ha ha. Not many Marlin caught down here. That's my first for nearly a year now.
Awesome video again mate 🎣 👍🏻
Thanks, as always mate 😊
You make my day 🤣🤣, great angler (well not too bad) 😂.
Ha! Too kind!
Perfect session, well done matey!!
Thanks matey. Hope you're keeping well and catching plenty.
@@FishyTom good thanks Tom, although I'm not angling as much as I'd like to 👍
Are we ever?
Top quality session tom time for the pink hat soon 👏
Nooooo. I'm not mentally prepared for that! It's still the summer, right? 🌞 ☀️

fantastic session, mate. Well done. Not a venue I fish much myself, I prefer the more secluded beaches away from people!
Fair point
I was offered an alcoholic drink ?

No, definitely not. My last few PB's have come in the winter. We're approaching the best time!
Great video Tom what tip light's are you using please.
Those are just the little chemical clip on ones. I'm not a tip light fan, only use them whilst filming to try a improve the bite viz on camera.
Won’t be going southbourne Tommorow night now 🤣🤣well done a very nice session
Cheers dude. It's a long old stretch of beach, plenty of room for everyone.

The 3 hook flapper in this video was a 2up 1down, 3 foot snoods. So a 6ft body. Yes, all my flappers are always glued. There's no better way.
P.s. thank you for watching and commenting 😁

Hey Guys, when fishing a urfe rig for bream do you use light flourcarbon snoods or quite heavy to stop tangles? Cheers 🎉
Belter again pal, defo coming down that end next autumn!! Will be in touch nearer the time for recommendations on a tidy tackle shop near by!!
No decent shops around here, sadly.

Those congers have no place being on a beach like Southbourne!
It's crazy hey! They're everywhere! Not a bit of rough ground to be found there!
