Great video again. Could you add a little feature in a future video on fish handling please? I want to know how you hold the rays single handed without getting fingers munched. Makes a better photo without seeing hands/fingers. Thanks Damo, Isle of Wight. 🎣
Lovely session plenty of fish and banter! I’m sure Mr Big Bass will take your close in mackerel soon! That beach seems very productive and relatively easy to fish!!! Happy Xmas and a fish filled new year! Cheers Ian
Thanks Ian. It can be a joy to fish at times, easy and comfortable. But, like all beaches, can switch off in the wrong conditions. Thanks for watching and commenting again. Happy Christmas to you too.
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 Very well thanks Tom. Hardly fished at all for the last few years but getting the urge to wet a line again. Even serviced my reels this week!
Was my birthday Monday, wasn't fussed about a "shout out" but gutted the 4.5m Syria wasn't on my doorstep when I woke up!! 😂😂 still enjoying your flicks, keep up the good work 👏 👍
Hi Tom another cracking video just seen your short video about your office window well gel on that one wish mine was as good as that😅 stay safe and merry Xmas to all at christchurch angling 🎄🍻
Brilliant video Tom ,great for a non distance caster lol ,do love a bit of southbourne, must admit my last few rays have all been caught on squid strips saves£ and re freezes well😊
As entertaining as always Tom 👍. But the conger was a tiddler 😂😂. By the way, you don’t seem to have a problem getting sandeels, I’m across the water from you and it’s a struggle to get them 🙄🐟🎣
Thanks mate. The conger was great fun, considering I'm fishing completely featureless sand, I'm amazed we get them to that size. Plenty of sandeel about this year, just small and mediums as usual.
Another great video Tom! Always amusing and educational. I know flounder have been in decline around our area for a few years but perhaps it’s something worth a little hard work and a good video?
Hi Tom great vid and commentary as usual. Been fishing all over the south coast for nearly 40 years mainly east of Hampshire. Started fishing. Southbourne this year and had loads of sole, plaice pout bream etc but no rays. I fish about 500 yards west of hengistbury head. Where would you recommend to fish on southbourne beach for rays. Just can't connect with any. Any ideas ?Thank you Simon.
Hi Simon. I usually walk west of the Warren Edge/SOBO beach car park about 3 or 4 bays. Mainly because it's a bit quieter up there, but does seem to produce well. To be honest anywhere from there through Gordon's zigzag, to Portman Ravine is a good area. There's a lot about at the moment, most are close range.
Nice last minute conger at the end Tom, did you get it on your usual bass Urfe rig with 0.50 line tied to a 6/0 which I've ordered from you and would you recommend beefing the line and hook size up when congers are around to cope with something a bit more toothy or can it handle it as it is? (same question for the Bagnall bar ray rig) Thanks mate
Excellent video again Tom, as always. Does the close-in gulley you mentioned run along the entire beach at Southbourne or is it only in a specific section?

I've got a cheeky little tip for that... I'll try and do it in a video.
Another classic species filled bonanza.
Thank you. That was a good session.
Hahaha thanks mate for the birthday. My gf and dad said fancy bothering the man while he's fishing but I can't help feel proud of myself 😂
Happy birthday mate! Hope you've had a good one!
@@christchurchanglingcentre5428 thank you mate I have and also had 100 pounds of vouchers for your shop so will be in soon

Ha ha, thanks mate.
You make it look easy, like me catching whiting.
Fishing is easy... when the fish are in front of you and hungry!

Great Video Tom, like your style, new to your channel, glad I stumbled across it...
Thanks mate, glad you liked the video. Hopefully there's a few more on my channel that'll float your boat.
Quality as usual Tom 👍🏼
Thank you mate 😁
Another good one Tom well done mate , let me take this opportunity on wishing you a merry Christmas and happy new year
Thank you, John. I hope you have a great one, too, and get to wet a line at some point.
Brilliant video Tom ,great for a non distance caster lol ,do love a bit of southbourne, must admit my last few rays have all been caught on squid strips saves£ and re freezes well😊
Absolutely! I am a bit sandeel obsessed, but as you say, squid works so well too and is a cheaper option.
As entertaining as always Tom 👍. But the conger was a tiddler 😂😂. By the way, you don’t seem to have a problem getting sandeels, I’m across the water from you and it’s a struggle to get them 🙄🐟🎣

They’re everywhere these days. Perhaps I’ll have to look around then, for the eels.
They've become quite a pest over the last few years, to the extent that I'm actually pleased to see a dogfish instead!
Another great video Tom! Always amusing and educational. I know flounder have been in decline around our area for a few years but perhaps it’s something worth a little hard work and a good video?
Hmmm, yeah I think there's scope for a flounder video. I'd like a nice day time one, so hopefully I can find a free day to do that soon. Thank you.
great vid, wana see a sea-trout one next season thou, 👍👍
Ooooh, ok. I'll add that to my list, thank you.
@christchurchanglingcentre5428 cheers mate i know you guys get a good run down there 👍👍
We do, we're lucky to have two great rivers going into a beautiful harbour.
Another brilliant vid Tom!...Quick question what mainline are you using ?
I was using the Asso Tapered Line in 0.26 here....

Hi mate. Yes, it was on that exact set up. I have, since this video, increased the line to cope with the congers, so you are spot on with that.
Hi Tom, good video, can I ask what tripod you’re using for the bait tray?
I use the Preston Pro Tripod :

Eazy Tom you ok pal, well done on your session, a nice mixed bag. Love the sense of humour lol. All the best from GRIMSBY
Thanks bud. Been treated to some lovely weather, so making the most of it.
Excellent video again Tom, as always. Does the close-in gulley you mentioned run along the entire beach at Southbourne or is it only in a specific section?
It runs the whole length in varying degrees.
Thanks Tom@@christchurchanglingcentre5428
No probs mate
tom please be careful with the language. as you had the bar rig ready you said lets launch it. or was it lawn shit. hahaha
