Agreed. And crimes against children should result in the same. These sickos can't change. That's just a reality. Are laws need to change. Penalties for these crimes and other violent crimes need to be much much harsher.
That’s very true. My mom was repeatedly abused and molested by her father for 10 years since she was 3 and her father has been free for years. He was already convicted of one molestation when my mom reported him to police, yet he barely got any time. I can’t imagine how many other victims he’s hurt over the years; it could be many. And worst of all, her family took his side. Her mother knew about it and did practically nothing. Her sister shunned her and has no contact to this day, because she doesn’t want her bubble to be burst, she wants to keep believing he’s a good person; and even takes her kids to see him often. It’s disgusting.

I know they thought they were doing their best but it hurt my heart sooo bad the way they over stimulated her right into a camera filled people filled party. She needed a quite calm place therapy and a hugs.
This poor girl needed therapy after what she went through. Instead everyone around her acted like it didn't happen. She will never forget that pain and she needed to be able to talk about it long before now. This breaks my heart. I'm glad she is doing better and is a survivor but I wish she was given an outlet to talk about what happened when she was still young.
Right?! I felt sick watching her father carrying her like that and then both parents holding her exposed to everyone singing, like a trophy, all that after being raped.

It makes me sick that all them people saw her and didn't stop to help her. What cowards, seriously? A little girl was chased by a man, and no one wanted to help her. It makes your faith in humanity that much less. Imagine if it was their child. They would want someone to stop and help. It's just so sickening.
Very unecesarilly judgemental. If you were going about your business and suddenly there's a child in the road and you have at most a few seconds to react, you can really say with full certainty you'd immediately stop? Plus no one sees an anxious 8 year old and instantly thinks kidnapping, you would first think maybe they're having a tantrum or just confused or something. I hate comments like this, where you with full hindsight get to criticize the actions of innocent people, and imagine yourself as the selfless hero who would *obviously* have done better. No, thank God for saving her. She looked up in the stars and prayed to God. The guy literally threw the keys down in front of her and she managed to pick the right key the first time. That can’t be a coincidence. He was practically on top of her so she probably wouldn’t have had another chance to try another key. Let’s give God the glory not our self’s.

How did the cops not think a car with blankets blocking out the windows wasn’t cause to be checked out 🥹🥹🥹 this poor baby could have been rescued sooner 💔
Many homeless people put up blankets on their car windows for privacy and saftey. It is a very usual thing to see, especially in areas where she was parked
My sister was friends with and went to school with Midsi. It was so sad to watch her go through life the way she did. I tell you what though she turned her life around and is absolutely thriving! Everything she does for those who are missing is incredible. Our little town is so proud of her. ❤
What school did midis go to ?? Weren’t there others cases at the time for Loma Vista and Elsa (it use to be called that) both elementary schools - I believe her case ended up helping differentiate the other kidnappings.
I love how Midsi has turned a horrible trauma into such a positive tool to help other kids. She’s amazing! So is the truck driver that stopped when nobody else did! ❤
I was about 6 years old out in my front yard kicking a soccer ball around when this yellow Chevy El Camino or Ford Ranchero pulled up and stopped in front of our driveway. Inside were two men in their early 30's, and the passenger leaned his head out the window and asked me to come over and help them with directions because they were lost. I remember dropping my ball and sprinting inside as fast as I could and that car sped off up the street. I'm an adult now and the thought of that moment still puts fear in me, so I can only imagine what Midsi or any other kidnapped child must have gone through. She's a very strong and brave young lady!
Shame on him taking advantage of a little girls kindness like that. It just scares me just how easily children can be kidnapped, and shame on her schoolmates. She was suffering enough and them bullying her didn't help. I'm proud that she was able to fight back against the pain and survive.
This story (and Xiana’s) were incredibly covered in my hometown (Vallejo) back then. Xiana went to my school and we all volunteered to look for her and then when Midsi was kidnapped and later escaped, it was joyous, but deeply painful and impacted her in ways this short doc can’t begin to express. The trauma was profound and unfortunately is lifelong. I can only empathize and pray for her and her family. Later on, I had the wonderful pleasure to teach her daughter and what a beautiful child she came out to be! I’m so proud of what she accomplished and overcame in the midst of a horrible experience
You did bring me to tears, Midsi..you did act so smart and brave during that kidnapping even not getting any food or water during your ordeal...be strong forever and live your life🏡
This absolutely broke me, I cried so much. As a survivor of monsters like this as a child, I am so speechless of her strength. What an amazing person, I can't believe it I am not superstitious but I like to believe her watching at the stars during that nightmare truly gave her superpowers.
if my child went though something so traumatic and was being bullied, I would have fought the school, the kids, and their parents. hope she continues to heal with her daughter 🙏
This is one of the most heartbreaking but breadfruit stories I've ever heard..... what a strength and soul, trauma to triumph....I love this woman for her strength in sick hard times but especially, stepping up to be the best influence in her own daughters life!! I'm so proud of her 💜💜💜💜 Love to you Midsi....
I love Midtsi's positive outlook that she has made of this horrific ordelle, and how she has stepped up in motherhood and helping those who has been through the same ordelle, what an amazing daughter of God 😢❤🥰
It's not always the parents. People forget that kids are their own people and can be little shits even with wonderful parents. I was bullied by a boy for THREE YEARS before his mother ever found out because the school NEVER called her despite them telling my grandmother they had. The bullying escalated where he threw Windex into my face. So my grandmother finally found his mothers number and we met up with his mother and told her EVERYTHING. The shock and sadness on her face was real that she didn't know. After that he never bothered me again and she would even called and check in to make sure.
not all parents were raised right either. luckily, eventhough my parent was abusive, i think i turned out alright. i obviously blame my parent for their actions, but they were learnt. kids only know what they know
The parents were probably assholes themselves. My parents would have torn strips off of me and I would have been on total lockdown grounding for at least a month.
When she said she was in the driver seat and the next sentence hesitated , I just started bawling I knew what was going to happen how can people be so evil man
Yeah that was painful to hear... like yeah I knew what she was about to say but it still hit me like a train... the hesitation, the horrified eyes, the robotic tone... you can tell that she's still reliving it even years after
I never understand why, when a kidnapped child is found alive and returned, that people think it's okay to immediately hold them up in front of a huge swarm of people and parade them all over tv. They just went through a traumatic experience. Those children need protection and anonymity, not to become the poster child for returned children. Yes every wants to know theyre safe and well, but they dont need to become a media circus for that to happen.
@@dampafextractionsofficialthats kind of worse tbh, you hear a child was kidnapped and taken to the hospital after being found and yall STILL as a community decide the next action to take is throw the birthday party she was on her way to RIGHT before the trauma happened😭 how would r-pe not be one of the first assumptions if they heard hospital
I listened to the “I Survived” podcast episode where Midsi spoke about her kidnapping- and what I really hate is how he rapped a baby- eight years old? I mean wrap is bad enough but eight??? And how the kids at school tormented her after all of this happened is just heartbreaking

I’m from Vallejo, CA…. I’m 25… I can’t believe I never heard about Midsi Sanchez.. I have never felt so connected to a case before and hearing her speak about what she went through, I just have no words. I’m unbelievably sorry you went through this Midsi, you are heaven sent and may life continue to be a blessing for you and your family. I was almost kidnapped when I was 14. Luckily I outsmarted the man in the truck who was following me to and from the McDonald’s, as I walked home. I’m just lucky and I wish more people would protect their kids and pay attention to where they are going and to have communication accessible to them at all times. Thank you Midsi, for being a voice and giving faith to young girls everywhere. You are a hero in my book.
I was abused when I was 6 by a camp counselor. Well, not even a camp counselor. One of the goddamned cooks. I still don't remember it fully, but I do remember being taken to his cabin and then extremely well defined blank spots, multiple times. and being taken to see a doctor by other camp staff, but I didn't know what was going on. The amount of rage I have towards that man is incomprehensible, but I know it likely pales in comparison to that which people like Midsi have who endured _so much more_ than I did. I'm shaking with fury with tears streaming down my face midway through this video. I still don't understand how "people," can do this sort of thing to *fucking children.*
No, your experience is no less traumatic. This probably has affected your whole life to date. I know, I was 4 when it happened to me. I am now 59 years old, and it still affects me.
The day she is returned to her parents they put her on blast in a public birthday party at a time when she prolly doesn't want to talk or see anybody.. Shame on the parents. You can see she isn't having a good time at her birthday party.
Celebrating her return. What's your thought if the girl said how sad she wS that no one celebrated her birthday? Had to know the right thing. Walk in their shoes before judging.
@Joseph Oakley - they obviously thought they were doing the right thing. It's truly tragic that in 2000, child psychologists; law enforcement etc didn't educate the family that counselling was needed and a public court testimony & homecoming weren't in her best interests.
As a law enforcement transcriptionist for two counties in California, I hear a lot from Mexican families and kids. It seems to be a cultural thing.. There are a lot of parties, lotta drinking, any reason to celebrate whatsoever. A lot of kids get sexually abused at these parties too, from what I've heard! Although they may not speak up for a decade or more. This party seems really inappropriate and f*ed up to us but in some cultures it's "normal" I guess
This reminds me of the case of Johny Linn Sells and crystal. Sells had been so very cruel to others, but was never caught. Until crystal. She was 10, she was traumatized, she was broken. But she still went onto that stand and locked him up. Truly astonishing what some people can do
Tommy Lynn Sells… the wildest part about his case that is rarely talked about is the mother who was convicted of killing her son and sent to prison for years…. Until a biographer of Sells recognized his handiwork in the crime and got him to confess. Other physical evidence corroborated his confession and the mother was exonerated.
I'm such a fan of the work you guys do here. The way you tell the story is full of empathy, sensibility and care for the victim. And better than that, you show that those people are more than victims: they are survivors. And the respect this channel gives to all the families is truly heartwarmig. I'm a big fan of true crime and yours is my favorite channel because you guys tell their stories as it should be told. They are fighters, they are survivors, they are inspirations.
This happened not too far from where I live. The whole area was just absolutely glued to the news when she went missing and then for her to escape was incredible!! She was so scared yet she took that chance to open that lock!! Everyone was amazed by her courage and by the truck driver's quick thinking. Never heard until now all that she went through afterwards.
She is a true survivor; someone who not only escaped, but someone who has meaning and purpose in her life. Bravo to her and to the man who rescued her.
I'm crying here. The courage of Midsy is mind blowing. One thing to tell our kids is that if they feel uncomfortable about a guy in a car alone, then stop and go back toward home. Or go into the first driveway they see and knock on the door.
I will never forget the espisodes I SURVIVED. She was one that was just truly distributing!! I’m glad to see more updated footage of her and just to hear her amazing story again!! She is truly a walking miracle!! 😢😇
Midsi is so clever, beautiful, and strong. It's almost unbelievable to me that she and I are the same age. I'm so glad she lived to escape and was able to hold that monster accountable. Love and well wishes to you and your family, Midsi. ❤️💕
Her strength is amazing. And the children who taunted her in such awful ways I hope have grown up and realized how desperately wrong they were and encourage their children never to make fun of others.
A child molester being sentenced to 251 years in prison is like saying "Well, if you last as long as 251 days in there, I'd be very surprised." Other inmates detest scum like that.
What a beautiful courageous young lady. Why her classmates bullied her is so tragic for this little survivor. I’m glad she overcame all she did and became a mother and a advocate for so many other girls of abuse. She is a warrior.
He doesn't want to spend time in a cell block as he says,in order to give the names and bodies of the little girls he killed,to their families???? what a jerk! There must be some "deal"so that the families can get their children back!!
midsi is one strong, powerful inspirational women. So many girls and women who go through these horrific things curl up and die inside. The truck driver may not feel like a hero but he is. If midsi never had the courage to undo that lock and run she would not be alive, so she is her own hero too.

Gotta understand that was just a quick rendition of the story and could've also happened very fast but time slows in fight or flight situations. Sounds like she was going perpendicular towards the street and the drivers proly weren't seeing a guy chasing her as he was way behind and their eyes are on the road, and for all we know people did end up stopping down the way once they got a passing glance of the situation.. She may not of been paying attention to them stopping once she hopped into the the guys truck.. For all we know traffic WAS slowing down for her, which finally gave her the urge to finally jump out. lots was proly going on for a child's mind to remember the whole picture and all she remembers is panic/fear - and I need to stop one of these cars and get in asap. I doubt most people aren't going to choose not to save a child, so I wouldn't be to negatively critical of the drivers. The party was a bad idea for sure, unfortunately the parents/family weren't thinking right. Sad

Cause their parents arent their parents, theyre their friend, too many people should never be parents yet they are, and the children they have are just pathetic. I hope and pray that this individual continues to heal and live a wonderful, which she deserves.
They honestly make me sick. Absolutely disgusting!
@lonelystarX that is not always the case. I don't think Empathy is taught. You either have it or you don't. I had horrible parents who subjected me to horrible things and I made the mistake of caring about them and every one else more then I do myself. I'm still working on this.
You get convicted of kidnapping once and you go to jail for life. That's a crime where you just know he's going to repeat and escalate.
He was convicted of 2 kidnappings, child molestation, and murder. Probably a whole bunch of other things. He killed Xiana and obviously planned to kill Midsi
Yes-Sexually violent predators do not change. Even after incarceration, they will get out & do it again. It’s been studied & studies & I agree with you!! They WILL NEVER CHANGE!

Then he died in an auto accident as a very young man.
Then the older son turned out to be a serial killer!

It makes me sick that all them people saw her and didn't stop to help her. What cowards, seriously? A little girl was chased by a man, and no one wanted to help her. It makes your faith in humanity that much less. Imagine if it was their child. They would want someone to stop and help. It's just so sickening.
That’s all I keep thinking too, considering they also looked nothing alike….. how could anyone not look at that and keep driving without concern
Not to justify it, but on a busy street, at a high speed, some people don't stop because that would lead to a massive car crash.
It's the American culture of "minding your own business" taken to new levels everyday.

Kids bullying her st school? Why aren’t parents raising their kids right?
It's not always the parents. People forget that kids are their own people and can be little shits even with wonderful parents. I was bullied by a boy for THREE YEARS before his mother ever found out because the school NEVER called her despite them telling my grandmother they had. The bullying escalated where he threw Windex into my face. So my grandmother finally found his mothers number and we met up with his mother and told her EVERYTHING. The shock and sadness on her face was real that she didn't know. After that he never bothered me again and she would even called and check in to make sure.
not all parents were raised right either. luckily, eventhough my parent was abusive, i think i turned out alright. i obviously blame my parent for their actions, but they were learnt. kids only know what they know
@@BloodNote The Good Son and The Bad Seed, for example, were just born psychotics.
