Oh my lord. I might have had this mutation in my flock at some point and not even realized. I had a budgie that had the bars everywhere and she never lost them. I ended up giving her away and had no clue it could have been a mutation x_x'
Now I feel stupid. I had a black face budgie with blue base color years ago. It was the offspring of a female ( i think she was violet ) I got gifted from a breeder because she had a tendency to abandon her clutches and one of my males a grey winged blue . I remember him because I had to nurse him by hand , the hen abandoned the clutch and he was the only one who survived incubation with a few minor hick ups and I just was happy to have such a black heavy budgie ( my favorite 'color' is black). Sadly he flew away after some idiots vandalized my aviary. I had seen him around the area a view times ( funnily enough with a flock of pigeons) but he never came back to stay. I need to ask my dad if he can send me our old photos from that time I know i have a few of him. Maybe I can come back and share them. The whole thing happend around 12 years ago and i remember searching the internet for black budgies back then not really finding anything so I really didn't know what I had on my hand back then.
Actually, the 'Black Pigmentation' on budgies affects two parts of their bodies. We have 2 new budgie mutations that have high Black pigmentation on their body. - *BLACK FACE MUTATION* - *BLACK WING MUTATION*
I think there is also a new type of budgie mutation known as the *'BLACK WING'* i see a lot of South Asian (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, etc..) budgie breeders posting videos on youtube and showing their budgies have normal body & head colors but the wings are completely Black. I hope someone sends you a video about *Black Wing* Budgies.
True, I've heard of it, but Blackface is still the rarest, in fact, I don't anyone who owns blackface variety other than the breeders mentioned in the video. I Hope someone sends me videos of the Blackwing too 😊
@Dayasam Abbas hello, I also have a green male & a mainly white with little light blue female I'd be mind blown if mine had black faces aswell..how much do they go for?
I really have learned so much from you. Watching your videos have taught me how to be a budgie owner. I started giving up hope in having a close relationships with my birds UNTIL I watched your videos. 2 are older and I adopted them trust me finally and the 2 babies come from pretty store and I was clueless on how to even train the"step up". Followed your FPFCT scale and everyone is on second F. Yes!! thank you thank you thank you

Hi sir I think I have a black face budgie and the second one looks similar I have attached a video in my channel please suggest me what to do next is it dangerous to health of the birds?
Actually, two of our budgies breeded to get a blackface budgie amazingly. Sadly, it passed away after a month because it was diagnosed with Psittacosis. R.I.P all the beautiful birdies that have past >:'c
I came looking for answers as to why my budgie has a black beak had never seen one like him he also has darker feet than any other I've owned. Now I now that he's unique🙂✨
Cool vid!!! Though your explanation of punnett squares in this specific video can be misleading. If you have 4 offspring it doesn't mean that 1 will be a dominant, non carrier, 2 will be carriers of the desired allel, and 1 will have the desire phenotype, if the parents are both carriers. Punnett squares give you a statistical chance at all possibilities. Your clutch of 4 may be all carriers, dominant, noncarriers, or express the desired phenotype or any combination of the 4 possible genotypes. It all depends on how the DNA is spliced during meiosis.
That's exactly what I said, I don't give fixed numbers, I give numbers in percentages.. let's say "50% of the off spring will be black face" which means if you have enough sample of these parents off spring, then their children will be half blackface. If all your children are boys (let's say 5), it doesn't mean you have 100% to concieve a boy, it is still 50%, you just got extremely lucky. This is how the punnett square works, and that's what I explained. I hope it cleared things up, and the last thing I want to do is mislead you in anyway. If you have any questions please ask me, and I would gladly try to help/explain as much as I can. and thank you for the compliment I really appreciate it.
No, it's not to breeding siblings. It causes desease and many genetical disorder also this method is not effective for producing fertile healty new ones. Maybe the man who didn't want to share at first tried that and didn't get succes. Normally it should be reduced the relation by breeding other partners at first and than breed each other their nestlings. I mean their grand grandsons and daughters. But it takes a lot of time and gives a lot of chicks. Think that they didn't know what type of gen it is at first, sex-linked or not, recessive or dominant. Also some monogamic birds doesn't want to mate with same type with its. It is hard to trick them to breeding each other. And even they want to mate, their chicks may can't live long enough because of many possible cause. (Edit: grammar)
When budgies are that young, almost all of them look like that, you need to look at the abdominal area, to see if it has stripes as well to be this mutation.
when i was 4 i got an black faced budgie it was rescued in a hole behind our yard and we petted him after someday i was 4 t that time i wonder what if i hold the budgie because i see lots of ppl holding it so i did i was so small i had no idea that holding a small animal tight might die and then it did sorry wolfie
So then black faced budgie isn't the same as a melanistic budgie? I've seen some I think are melanistic budgies. I would think that might be confusing when the black face budgie is recessive.

Wow, they're amazing, and thank you for this channel, I love it. Now, some 20 years ago I got one of these budgies from a pet store in Portugal - I knew something was different about them. At first I thought it was just a chick with way too much dark markings (it was indeed a chick); he grew up and the markings were still present. I paired him up with two females (both ancient green), but none of the offspring came out like like the father... I thought - there we go, a new mutation got lost... And then, here we are. They're gorgeous!!
Wow, what a beautiful bird. I have a quick question for anyone that knows. I believe my budgies are breeding. I have a nest box coming and I am studying like crazy and have an avian vet lined up just in case. My question is can all natural coconut fiber be used a ps bedding after the chicks start to grow?
